No Gap Internship for Kanye West

For several days, an Internet rumour claimed that the singer was doing an internship with the  Gap.

The fashion company’s spokesperson claimed that the information is false, People reports.

This isn’t the only rumour concerning West’s career in the fashion industry. There was also word that the star was hired to design sports shoes for Louis Vuitton, and that all his shoe models already sold out.

Only three models he designed were sold in England, while the others are not expected out until the end of the month. Currently, the shoes are being distributed worldwide.

Louis Vuitton indicated that there have been many presales, however the stocks have not yet completely sold out.

Stella McCartney Dresses the Kids

McCartney will introduce a line of clothing for GapKids and BabyGap, and the British designer says she’s excited about the project, reports Vogue.co.uk.
 
She stated, "For years now I’ve wanted to create a collection for kids, it’s something I’ve often been asked about."
 
The collection is set to make its appearance later this year, and will be available in Gap stores in England, France, Ireland, Canada and Japan, as well as online and across the United States.

Gap Encourages New Talent

People.com reported that Gap hired rising designers to redesign the brand’s khaki line.

Albertus Swanepoel, Alexander Wang and Vena Cava’s Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai designed jackets, dresses, hats and pants for the Gap Design Editions collection, which will be sold in limited edition.

Starting in mid-June, fashionistas can get their hands on the new items that will cost between $40-90 each.

Gap Heads to the Beach

Creative director at GapBody, Mireille Gindrey, has introduced a debut swimsuit collection for the American label, FashionMag.fr reports.

Printed graphics or romantic patterns are set to the backdrop of bold or pale colours. The swimwear items are sold separately to best suit individual tastes and styles, whether it be a bustier, a triangle-cut or a balconette.

In addition to the swimwear, a beachwear collection is being offered, including light, jersey dresses, shorts or caftans for the beach, for a touch of oceanside elegance.

The items from the new Gap resort collection will be priced between $28 and $50.

Jennifer Hudson Stars in Gap Ad

Despite the recent triple homicide that took the lives of Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew, the actress and singer gave the company the green light to use her holiday ads.

Olive Doyne, Hudson’s rep, confirmed that Gap offered to scrap the ads, but the star refused the offer, saying that she wants to continue with her life despite the recent tragedy.

The photographs of Hudson were taken by Michael Thompson in New York last July.  Other stars featured in this year’s campaign include Jason Bateman, Mary-Louise Parker and Mila Kunis.

Liv Tyler Becomes the New Gap Face

Tyler will work with designer Georgina Chapman from the fashion house Marchesa and the Black Hawk Down actor, Hugh Dancy, as one of the new faces of Gap’s fall/winter 2008-09 advertising campaign, reports Vogue.co.uk.

The first complete line by designer Patrick Robinson, will be presented by photographer Mikael Jansson, who worked on the theme, Create Your Own Gap.

The Gap advertisement will be featured in the September and October issues of several magazines such as, Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Elle.

Gap To Launch Limited Editions

For the second consecutive year, Gap is working with designers such as 3.1 Phillip Lim, Band of Outsiders and Michael Bastian to create a line called Gap Design Editions.

"At Gap we’re proud of our history of celebrating creativity, supporting emerging talent and inspiring our customers to wear classic American styles. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to support some of America’s finest talent and to work with them to reinterpret that most iconic of wardrobe essentials – the classic white shirt," said Gary Muto of Gap.  Therefore, the designers will be working on one of the key pieces of a wardrobe for both men and women, the white shirt.
 
The collection will be on sale at certain Gap stores in Canada, the United States, Japan, Great Britain and online.

Gap Helps Fight AIDS

Katie Grand was hired by Gap to supervise and recruit designers around the world to develop new versions of their products with the Gap’s quality and accessibility.

This resulted in a creative collection sold in Gap stores in London and Paris starting December 1, which is International AIDS Day. To commemorate this day, 50% of the profits made on this day will be given to the Global Fund, which works to fight AIDS in Africa.

There will be t-shirts and camisoles created with logos of many designers such as Calvin Klein, Giles Deacon and many others. For the accessories, Grand worked with Mulberry, where she was named director of designs, to recreate the Roxanne handbag in red. Pierre Hardy created red satin flat shoes.

This collaboration will be celebrated this Thursday, November 29, in London with a meal organized by Grand and Sunnucks at the Bistrotheque.

A Christmas Campaign for Gap

The American brand has released their promotional campaign for the holidays.

Several stars appear in clothing from Gap, including John Krasinski of the American television series The Office, the stars of the film Enchanted, Amy Adams and James Marsden, will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, and many others.

You may remember that on October 29, Gap had to withdraw its clothes made by children working in workshops in India, where poor working conditions have been unveiled by the Britain’s The Observer.

Gap To Launch Organic Line

The new collection, called BabyGap Organic, will feature clothing and accessories for babies from birth to 12 months.  All of the products will be created in colours such as grey, beige and white.
