Harry Potter exhibit comes to New York City

Starting next month, Harry Potter: The Exhibition will make a final, unscheduled stop in New York City before leaving North America for Europe, reports Le Blog Luxe.

The exhibition features hundreds of original props and costumes that were used in the Harry Potter movies. For the added New York show, organizers will include new, never-before-seen props from both parts of Deathly Hallows.

Opening April 5 at New York’s Discovery Times Square, the final North American stop will run for five months before the show packs up to head overseas. Tickets for the show are already on sale.

"From the moment they step inside, visitors to ‘Harry Potter: The Exhibition’ are immersed in the fantastic world brought to life in the blockbuster films," said Brad Globe at Warner Bros.

The exhibition allows fans to travel through familiar settings such as Hagrid’s Hut, the Great Hall and the Gryffindor Common Room, while viewing the hundreds of artifacts on display.

"We’ve saved the best for this last stop – this finale will be the biggest and most magical," promises James Sanna, president of Discovery Times Square.

More accusations against Rowling

According to Reuters, J.K. Rowling has joined her editor, Bloomsbury, in refuting accusations she copied elements of the book The Adventures of Willy the Wizard: No. 1 Livid Land, published in 1987.

The author called for a plagiarism case against her to be dismissed today, describing it as "unfounded" and "absurd".

In June, the estate of Adrian Jacobs issued proceedings at London’s High Court against Bloomsbury Publishing, claiming that Rowling copied substantial parts of Jacobs’ book The Adventures of Willy the Wizard — No 1 Livid Land.

It says that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire contains elements copied from Willy the Wizard, including a magicians’ contest and the idea of magicians travelling on trains.

Rowling’s name was added to the case as a defendant. The 44-year old author says in a statement, "I am saddened that yet another claim has been made that I have taken material from another source to write Harry."

She goes on to add, "The fact is I had never heard of the author or the book before the first accusation by those connected to the author’s estate in 2004; I have certainly never read the book."

The seven Harry Potter books have broken publishing records. More than 400 million copies have been sold worldwide in several languages and the film franchise has earned billions of dollars.

Daniel Radcliffe To Quit Acting?

Radcliffe was 11 when he began working as one of the main characters in the popular Harry Potter films and found himself in the spotlight. Now 19, the actor has performed in many other films and projects, both in London and in New York.

However, Isaacs, who plays Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, believes that Radcliffe has a long career ahead in Hollywood, but not as an actor, reports Starpulse.com. He said, "Daniel will potentially be a great director or producer. He’s very interested in behind-the-camera work. Remember, (he) has spent more hours in front of the camera in the last decade than most people have in their entire career."
