One More Harry Potter Film

Warner Bros. has decided that the final saga by  J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be made into two films.  The two installments will be released within six months of one another, reported Variety.

Warner Bros. has not yet decided how to adapt the final Rowling novel.  They will be dividing the 784 page book in half.  The release dates have been tentatively set.  The first installment of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be in theatres in November 2010.  The sequel will be released the following May.

David Yates will be directing the two parts and they will be filmed concurrently. Yates directed the last two films about the famous wizard, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which will be in theatres in November of this year.

Steve Kloves wrote the screenplay for all of the installments except Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

JK Rowling Feels Exploited

In a lawsuit filed yesterday in a New York court, JK Rowling is attempting to ban the publishing of an unofficial Harry Potter encyclopedia.

The British author told the BBC of Steve Vander Ark’s project to publish the project through RDR Books: "I am very frustrated that a former fan has tried to co-opt my work for financial gain."

Rowling is planning to publish her own encyclopedia including material never seen in her books.

She said: "I believe that RDR‘s book constitutes a Harry Potter rip-off of the type I have spent years trying to prevent."

This is not the first injunction against the publication of Vander Ark’s Harry Potter encyclopedia.  It was originally scheduled to be available to the public last October or November.

JK Rowling sold over 400 million copies world-wide of her Harry Potter books.

Will There Be an Eighth Harry Potter Book?

According to FemaleFirst, Rowling, who recently released the seventh and final book of the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", admits that she may revive the magical world of Hogwarts one day.  "There have been times since finishing, weak moments, when I’ve said, ‘Yeah, all right,’ to the eighth novel," admitted the British author.

Rowling, who is now writing a book for adults, has considered another Harry Potter book during moments of nostalgia.  She said that she has already thought of the book in her head.  Rowling explained, "If, and it’s a big if, I ever write an eighth book about the wizarding world, I doubt that Harry would be the central character. I feel like I’ve already told his story. But these are big ifs. Let’s give it 10 years and see how we feel then."

J.K. Rowling Sues Publisher

The author and Warner Bros., who produced the Harry Potter films, wants to stop RDR Books from publishing a 400-page book, reports FemaleFirst, based on the Harry Potter Lexicon website.  Rowling said, "I cannot approve of ‘companion books’ or ‘encyclopaedias’ that seek to pre-empt my definitive Potter reference book for their authors’ own personal gain."

The author previously commended the website for its exact information about the young wizard.  In 2004, she even gave fans of the website a special price on books.

However, Rowling insists that this book would infringe on her intellectual rights, and prevent her from writing her own Harry Potter encyclopedia.
