Where to stream viral Canadian horror movie Skinamarink in Canada

Over the past few months, you might have heard of an indie horror movie called Skinamarink. 

After all, it’s been something of a viral sensation thanks to the likes of TikTok. What you might not have known, however, that it’s Canadian. Filmed by YouTuber Kyle Edward Ball in his native Edmonton for just $15,000 USD (about $20,000 CAD), the movie follows two children who cannot find their father and must deal with mysterious happenings in their home.

As a slow-burn experimental feature, it’s proven to be rather polarizing, but regardless, it’s certainly captured the internet’s attention. And now, after a small theatrical rollout in January, the movie is finally streaming worldwide, including in Canada, on Shudder.

The horror-themed service costs $5.99 CAD/month with a free 7-day trial. It’s available on a variety of platforms, including Android, iOS, Amazon Prime Video (as a channel) and the web.

Skinamarink isn’t the only Alberta production to recently take off. HBO’s hit The Last of Us series was also filmed in the province — a fact that the creators and stars, including Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, raved about to MobileSyrup. The series’ production designer even said he was surprised at how “clean” the province ended up being. Travel Alberta has also created an interactive map to let viewers view exact filming locations from the series.

Crave announces a horror movie marathon for the whole month of October!

What better way to mark the scariest month of the year than with a horror movie every day?

Crave has just made an announcement that will greatly please horror movie fans: every day in October, a new horror movie will be offered to subscribers of the streaming service.

The movies will be available for a limited time, so we suggest you plan a few viewing marathons during the month of October.

A horror movie a day is heaven for people who like to get the chills! Special Halloween programming will include classics such as the 1976 film Carrie and more recent films. A HALLOWEEN section will be featured on the Crave homepage so that everyone can find the movies easily.

Emma Roberts ditches ‘toxic’ friends

Emma Roberts has cleared the ”toxic” people from her life.

The ‘American Horror Story’ star has admitted she has spent the last six months since her 24th birthday making sure to weed out any bad people in her friendship groups.

She said: ”Since I’ve turned 24, I really like cleared out toxic people in my life.

”I only surround myself with people – with work and with friends. People that are going to make me feel confident and make me happy and make me laugh. And so that way, the mean things don’t get to me as much.”

And the 24-year-old beauty is also trying to avoid looking at any mean comments made about her on social media in a bid to feel more positive about herself.

She added to PEOPLE magazine: ”I feel like people think actors aren’t real people and you can just say whatever you want about them and it doesn’t matter.

”I guess it hurts my feelings, so I try not to read that stuff. It makes me more mad when I see it written about my friends or, like, my sister. My sister is 14 and she didn’t want me to post a photo of [us] because she said people were saying mean things about her. That really broke my heart.”

Jessica Lange confirms American Horror Story exit

Jessica Lange has confirmed she has quit ‘American Horror Story’.

The 65-year-old actress – who a different character in each of the first four seasons of the FX show – will not be returning for the fifth series of the US TV series, ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’, but paid tribute to creator Ryan Murphy and her co-stars for making it an ”insane” experience.

Speaking at media convention PaleyFest in New York yesterday (15.03.15), she told the audience: ”Yes, I’m done. We’ve had a great run here. I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I’ve had the opportunity to play.

”In all the madness, I’ve loved the writers, my actors, Ryan and the whole, I mean, insanity of it, shooting here, shooting in New Orleans, the stories, everything.”

But it’s not all bad news for ‘American Horror Story’ fans as Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson will both appear in the fifth series.

The pair will be joined by Lady Gaga, and Matt failed to ”confirm or deny” whether his alter-ego will be romantically involved with the ‘Born This Way’ star’s character.

It’s not the first time Matt has appeared in the series as he played a prostitute called Andy who was brutally murdered by Finn Witrock’s character Dandy in the fourth season, ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’.

Last month, Gaga – who is engaged to ‘Chicago P.D.’ star Taylor Kinney – confirmed she had signed up for the program by posting a chilling video on her Twitter account in which she was seen wearing a mask and saying, ”’American Horror Story’ season five,” before ripping the headgear off and adding: ”Hotel.”

The ‘American Horror Story’ actress, who got engaged to her co-star in December 2013, sparked rumors their relationship was on the rocks after she was spotted out multiple times without her engagement ring over the past few weeks.

But a source said: ”Emma and Evan are still together and happier than ever!

”Emma has been known not wear her ring all the time.”

The couple – who started dating in 2012 – recently celebrated the one year anniversary of their engagement on holiday with friends.

The insider told E! News: ”The couple spent their New Year’s on a ski trip with a group of close friends.”

News that their relationship is still solid comes just weeks after another source claimed Evan, 27, and Emma, 23, were fighting a lot on set.

The source told OK! magazine: ”Emma and Evan are making out – that is, if they’re not screaming at each other.”

Evan admitted last year and he and Emma were in no rush to plan their wedding.

He said: ”No, we’re just enjoying being engaged right now. I’m very happy right now, thank you.”

Emma Roberts scared of ghosts

Emma Roberts is scared of ghosts.

The 23-year-old actress admits she’s worried a spooky figure will creep up on her when she is sleeping, so she makes sure she checks behind every piece of furniture in her bedroom before she settles down for the night.

Speaking on the ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ last night (05.12.14), she said: ”Everywhere I go I think is haunted. I’m the person checking under the bed, behind the curtains ten times before I go to bed. I’m very easily scared.”

However, Emma has a good trick for keeping the eerie spirits at bay after she took part in a ghost tour of New Orleans, known for it’s spooky stories, before shooting the upcoming season of ‘American Horror Story: Coven’.

Speaking about the tour, she explained: ”They take you around and they basically show you all these places where horrific things have happened and then tell you about all the ghosts and so after the ghost tour, I’m scared to death. ”And I said to the woman, who led the ghost tour … ‘What do I do to make sure nothing happens to me, like there are no ghost encounters’. And she was like, ‘Well, you have to make an offering when you get home tonight.’ … And I thought she was going to tell me to like cut the head off a chicken and put blood [over me] or something. And she was like, ‘OK, I’ll tell you the trick. Tequila and salt’ … she said leave it on your kitchen table and tell them it’s for them and to leave you alone.”

The blonde beauty admits she followed the woman’s advice and the ghosts left her alone, unlike her co-stars.

She added: ”A couple months went by, and we’re shooting the show, and everyone had these horrible ghost things happen to them! I was the only one that didn’t.”
