Dallas Cowboys give Brandin Cooks a “lifeline”

The Dallas Cowboys have a brand new wide receiver, having brought aboard Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans in exchange for draft picks. The move came not long after the Cowboys made the call to part ways with running back Ezekiel Elliott, so naturally, more offensive help was needed.

He’ll be teaming up with CeeDee Lamb to give quarterback Dak Prescott some additional offensive weapons, and according to NBC Sports’ Mike Florio, this is exactly what Cooks needed in his career after having prior suited up for the hapless and struggling Texans.

“Cooks is coming in with the right attitude, and he’s just got to be thrilled to go from one of the worst teams in the NFL over the last couple of years to a team that’s in a position to contend, he’s got to be happy,” Florio said.

“He’s been thrown a lifeline, you don’t even have to leave the state, and he’s still paying zero percent income tax.”

And judging by the comments that Cooks made, he’s thrilled to be a part of the Cowboys family.

“I’ve really never gotten upset because that means someone out there wants me to be a part of their group,” Cooks said. “I think I’m just fortunate enough to be able to play with so many great organizations and make an impact in this league everywhere I’ve been. It excites me. I think it’s special because that means I didn’t get to free agency, so people jumping the gun to get me before I get there. So, that’s the way I look at it. I look at it in a positive light.”

Texans angry at Cowboys over Brandin Cooks trade!

The Dallas Cowboys brought aboard some much needed offensive help in the form of wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who was acquired in a trade late last month with the Houston Texans in exchange for draft capital.

And the Texans, who have to share the Lone Star State with its main sports attraction in the Cowboys, don’t appear to be too pleased over Cooks departing their squad – especially to the in-state rival.

“It sucks losing a talented receiver like Brandin Cooks, so, we never wanted to lose talented players,” Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said of the Cooks trade to Dallas. “We’re really trying to acquire as many talented players as possible, so, it’s hard losing him.”

But in the meantime, Cooks isn’t worried at all about what his former franchise is thinking – he’s just ready to go to work with his new teammates.

“I couldn’t be more hungry,” Cooks said. “Last three years, it is what it is. But when you step into a locker room like this and an organization … I mean, it’s definitely fueling the fire and that hunger to be able to come out here and just show up and help my team win. I can’t wait, I truly can’t.”

Sounds like he’s happy to have jumped ship to the real football attraction in the great state of Texas! What kind of season will he enjoy in his debut campaign with the Cowboys?
