Ice Cube rules out running for Congress

Ice Cube rules out running for Congress.

The 48-year-old American rapper-and-actor – whose real name is O’Shea Jackson Sr. – realizes with his huge fan base he could make a popular candidate but is adamant he would never consider running for office.

Speaking on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Friday (06.04.18), Ice Cube said: "I use my music. I use my entertainment. I’m an artist. I’d rather paint what I’m feeling than sit up and try to deal with Congress and them crazies out there. They are more crazy than the rap game, so I’ll stick with rap. We’re safe."

This comes after Oprah Winfrey caused a stir at this year’s Golden Globes when she gave a rousing speech as she collected the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement and many called for Oprah to run for president.

And while the media mogul was flattered by the comments, she insists she will "definitely" not be campaigning for presidency.

While promoting her latest film ‘A Wrinkle in Time’, Oprah said: "That is a definite no, because you know as we talk about this film and how all the ‘Mrs’ are trying to get Meg, the main character, to understand and listen to the voice inside of herself and I believe everybody has that. And you know, regardless whether there are a thousand people telling to do something, you know for yourself what feels like the right thing to do. I recognize I have a voice in the world and I feel very honored and that people trust me with some level of moral authority that I feel like I have been on the right track. But it doesn’t feel like politics is the way that I want to exercise that voice. I kinda like my life. I have a very nice life I don’t want to ruin it."

Jamie Foxx accompanied to birthday bash by Katie Holmes

Jamie Foxx celebrated his birthday with Katie Holmes by his side.

The singer-and-actor enjoyed a star-studded 50th birthday bash at Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles on Wednesday (12.13.17), and though he and the former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ actress have never confirmed rumors – which started in 2013 – they are a couple, the pair "walked in" together.

A source told People magazine: "They walked in together. They mostly mingled with other guests, and spent very little alone time. It was obvious that Jamie had a great birthday. Katie looked like she had fun as well. She looked gorgeous."

During the party, Jamie performed for his guests, and according to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, Katie – who has daughter Suri, 11, with ex-husband Tom Cruise – sat with his ‘Django Unchained’ co-star Leonardo DiCaprio and a few other friends to watch the performance from a private table.

And the onlooker claimed the Oscar-winning star looked directly into the 38-year-old star’s eyes as he sang a song with "I love you" lyrics.

Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube also joined Jamie on stage to perform, and other guests at the bash included Tobey McGuire and Smokey Robinson.

Earlier in the evening, Jamie was presented with a cake by his daughters Corinne, 23, and eight-year-old Annalise, with the sweet treat featuring a throwback picture of their famous father along with the words "Happy 25×2".

Before the big party, a number of the ‘Ray’ star’s closest friends, as well as his daughters, celebrated with an intimate dinner at the Highlight Room, where he was reportedly met by Katie after the meal so they could head over to the party together.

Earlier in the day, Jamie took to Instagram to thank his fans, family and friends for their messages on his birthday.

He said: "Listen, I’m about to turn up.

"I’m having a fantastic day celebrating my family, my friends, they’ve done so many good things for me — so many great things for me. … We’re about to have a good one tonight, about to turn up, about to be a two-day thing, and I’m appreciative."

Ice Cube suffers breakdown en route to festival

Ice Cube was 90 minutes late for a performance at a marijuana festival because his car broke down.

The rap icon was due to headline the Chalice Festival in Victorville, California, on Saturday (08.07.17), but he kept his fans waiting after his vehicle broke down and he was forced to rely on an Uber to reach the event.

A festival insider shared: "On his way up, the car he was in broke

down on I-15, about 45 minutes from the venue.

"We sent our guys to pick them up, but about five minutes before we got there they decided to call an Uber."

The 48-year-old musician – who was previously part of the legendary rap group group N.W.A. – was forced to change in the car while the vehicle was en route to the festival.

And when he did eventually arrive, Cube was dropped off right next to the stage, where he quickly grabbed the mic and started performing some of his best tunes.

A source told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six Column: "It wasn’t like a Suburban, but some Uber driver’s basic minivan. He grabbed the mic and hit the stage."

Cube’s fans quickly forgot about their frustrations as he delivered a memorable performance at the festival.

The insider said: "He was 90 minutes late but nailed the show like a total pro."

In June, the American rapper was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and during the unveiling ceremony, Cube thanked his mother Doris, who worked as a hospital clerk, and his father Hosea Jackson, who worked as a groundskeeper at UCLA during his younger years.

He said: "Thank you mama for always supporting whatever I wanted to do, whether you was with it or not, you said ‘As long as it kept you off the street, you can do it."

And of his father, Cube added: "A lot of guys don’t have their fathers around, and if you want to make a man like this, stay around your sons. Stay around your kids."

Ice Cube receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Ice Cube received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday (06.12.17).

The 47-year-old rapper – whose real name is O’Shea Jackson – was overcome with emotion as he thanked his parents Doris Benjamin and Hosea Jackson for their support throughout his career in showbiz while he picked up his honour on Hollywood Boulevard outside the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, California.

According to ABC7, the actor said: "Thank you mama for always supporting whatever I wanted to do, whether you was with it or not, you said: ‘As long as it kept you off the street, you can do it.’ A lot of guys don’t have their fathers around, and if you want to make a man like this, stay around your sons. Stay around your kids."

Ice Cube may have kept it casual in a black cap, a black shirt, black jeans and black trainers to collect his honour but he certainly couldn’t contain his smile as he posed for a photograph alongside his certificate and his name embedded within the pavement.

The ‘Check Yo Self’ hitmaker’s close friends John Singleton and rapper WC watched on as he collected his star and couldn’t help but say a few words of their own at the end.

WC – whose name is William Loshawn Calhoun, Jr – gushed about how Ice Cube had made an impact with his music as a solo artist and as part of the rap group N.W.A.

He said: "One thing I can say that he did better than most was utilize his lyrics to wake up spirits."

Ice Cube’s star comes just over a year after he was into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Addressing his wife Kimberly Woodruff and their children O’Shea Jackson Jr., 26, Darrel, 24, Karima, 23, Shareef, 21, and Deja, he said: "You guys make everything normal for me."

Ariana Grande and John Legend to perform Beauty and the Beast

Ariana Grande and John Legend are to perform ‘Beauty and the Beast’ for Disney’s upcoming live-action film.

The 23-year-old pop star and John, 38, are poised to collaborate on a new version of the Grammy and Oscar-winning song, which will serve as the title track from the movie’s soundtrack.

The song – was first recorded by actress Angela Lansbury in 1991 – is being produced by industry veteran Ron Fair, whose work has led to six Grammy Awards and 18 nominations.

He said: "Stepping into the shoes of an Oscar and Grammy Award-winning classic is not small potatoes. But with today’s two greatest plutonium singers – John Legend and Ariana Grande – we are bringing the song back with a new school-old school fresh treatment that shows the soulfulness and power of what a great melody and lyric can inspire."

It has been confirmed, too, that the single will be accompanied by a music video produced by Dave Meyers, who has previously worked with a host of major artists, including the likes of P!nk, Janet Jackson, Ice Cube and Britney Spears.

The hotly-anticipated ‘Beauty and the Beast’ live-action movie features a star-studded cast, with Emma Watson and Dan Stevens set to play the central roles.

In the film, Emma plays the part of Belle and a video clip of the 26-year-old actress singing leaked online earlier this week.

Emma previously admitted to being nervous about singing in ‘Beauty and the Beast’, having not done so for such a long period of time.

The actress said that whilst she was "excited" to be given the iconic part, she also felt anxious about lending her voice to the role.

Emma shared: "It’s so crazy. I was so excited. It was nerve-wracking for me because I’ve sung as a child in plays and I loved it, but I just hadn’t done it in such a long time, it was like learning to ride a bike again."

Ice Cube doesn’t think Kardashian sisters could ‘handle’ his son

Ice Cube doesn’t think the Kardashian girls will be able to "handle" his son if they were to date him.
The ‘Ride Along’ star will never tell his child O’Shea Jackson Jr., who he shouldn’t romance but is convinced nothing will ever blossom between him and the reality TV star sisters – Kim Kardashian West, Kourtney Kardashian and Khloe Kardashians – because he’s too independent and driven.
Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, he explained: "I didn’t say [O’Shea can’t date] no Kardashians. It isn’t my choice. But I don’t think they [the showbiz sisters] can handle him."
And it seems the 25-year-old actor is too busy for love at the moment as he’s focusing on carving a name in Hollywood.
The 46-year-old rapper said of his son: "I’m so proud of him. He’s working. He’s trying to submit himself out in Hollywood."
But Khloe – who split from her husband Lamar Odom in 2013 following four years of marriage – has other ideas as she recently admitted she’d like to get frisky with O’Shea while playing a game on her show ‘Kocktails With Khloe’ with her half-sister Kendall Jenner back in January.
As a picture of the hunk popped up on the screen behind her, the 31-year-old beauty said: "I would bang him."

Ice Cube blasts MTV for Paul Walker win

Ice Cube has blasted the MTV Movie Awards for giving the Best Onscreen Duo trophy to Paul Walker posthumously.

The rapper believes the ‘Fast & Furious 6’ star, who died in a car crash in November, and his co-star Vin Diesel only won out of ”sympathy” on Sunday night (04.13.14), and insists he and his ‘Ride Along’ co-star Kevin Hart were ”robbed.”

The 44-year-old actor told USA Today newspaper: ”We was robbed. Shame on you, MTV.”

He added: ”We had the best chemistry of everybody nominated, for us not to win was crazy. We were the best onscreen duo, period.”

Paul was also honored during a special tribute led by his co-star Jordana Brewster at the star-studded event.

But Ice Cube claims he wasn’t suggesting the late actor, 40, wasn’t talented enough to receive the accolade, saying: ”They should have gave it to him before he passed away.”

The actor also left the ceremony, hosted by Conan O’Brien at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, mid-show because he wasn’t enjoying himself.

He said: ”I just wasn’t into it. I have been going in and out of these things for 25 years. If you ain’t into it, why torture yourself? As soon as you get bored, get up and leave.”

Shortly before the awards, he wrote on Twitter: ”On my way to the MTV movie awards. If me and Kevin Hart don’t win. The fix is in.”

There was a lot of bad blood among the artists back in 1990, when Cypress Hill accused Ice Cube of stealing one of their songs.  The tension continued until 1997, when all was resolved.  Now, they’re planning on working together in the recording studio.

B-Real of Cypress Hill explained, "We reconciled the problem in ’97 but still people have a lot of questions about it. So I figure it would be big to have him on the next Cypress Hill record."

New Movie for Ice Cube

Dimension Films has acquired the rights to the first screenplay written by Ice Cube since the Friday series, reported Variety.

The rapper will also be playing in the movie and producing it along with his partner Matt Alvarez.

Janky Promoters is the story of two music promoters who have the opportunity to book a big hip-hop artist to play in a small venue.  The duo is not equipped to deal with such a responsibility and everything falls apart.

Ice Cube can be seen in the sports drama The Longshots and in the suspense The Extractors. He has also been playing in the comedy First Sunday since January.
