Harry Potter play to open in the West End

A new Harry Potter play is opening in the West End.

The stage show, called ‘Harry Potter and The Cursed Child’, will debut at the Palace Theatre in the heart of London in summer 2016 with tickets set to go on sale this autumn.

The show will follow the lives of the boy wizard’s doomed parents, Lily and James Potter, and their death at the hands of Lord Voldermort, which results in a baby Harry being sent to live with Lily’s cruel sister Petunia Dursley, her husband Vernon and their bullying son Dudley.

The play has been penned by Potter author J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, who will also be directing the show.

While the cast is yet to be announced, producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender are said to be on the lookout for the leads and informal auditions are currently being held, reports the Daily Mail newspaper.

The 49-year-old writer took to her Twitter to announce the news but refused to reveal too much about the play for fear of spoiling the story.

She tweeted: ”I’m very excited to confirm today that a new play called Harry Potter and the #CursedChild will be opening in London next year.

”It will tell a new story, which is the result of a collaboration between writer Jack Thorne, director John Tiffany and myself. #CursedChild

”I don’t want to say too much more, because I don’t want to spoil what I know will be a real treat for fans. #CursedChild

”However, I can say that it is not a prequel! #CursedChild. (sic)”

Rowling also revealed the reason behind her decision to add to Harry’s story in a play format instead of releasing a new novel.

She explained: ”To answer one inevitable (and reasonable!) question – why isn’t #CursedChild a new novel? – I am confident that when audiences see the play they will agree that it was the only proper medium for the story. #CursedChild

”I’ve had countless offers to extend Harry’s story over the years, but Jack, John and Sonia Friedman are a dream team! #CursedChild

”It has been a huge pleasure to share with them (and soon, with you!) this untold part of Harry’s story. #CursedChild. (sic)”

Lindsay Lohan to write autobiography

Lindsay Lohan is planning to write her autobiography.

The ‘Mean Girls’ actress has held a string of meetings with publishing houses to discuss penning a tell-all book, and promised not to hold back on any detail, including the truth about an alleged list of her famous lovers which was leaked earlier this year and mentioned the likes of Colin Farrell, Justin Timberlake, James Franco and The Wanted’s Max George.

A source said: ”Lindsay held meetings at major publishing houses in London recently — and the stories she promised the literary agents made their jaws drop.

”She’s prepared to put everything out there and has already proved she’s not shy with the list of men she claims to have slept with.”

The 28-year-old actress wants a ghost writer to help her with the book and has set her sights on high-profile writers such as ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ scribe E.L. James or ‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: ”Lindsay is now looking for a ghost writer. It may seem unlikely, but she thinks she’s in with a shot of getting EL James to work on it — they met recently at [London nightspot] Chiltern Firehouse and got on well.

”Another pie in the sky idea was that she might persuade JK Rowling to work with her.”

J.K. Rowling unsure about Harry Potter ending

J.K. Rowling isn’t sure she ended ‘Harry Potter’ in the right way.

The author concluded her hugely successful series of books about the boy wizard with his best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley married – which upset many fans who thought Harry should have got with Hermione – and now she’s not sure if that was the right decision.

She told Wonderland magazine: ”For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.

”I know, I’m sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I’m absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility.

”Am I breaking people’s hearts by saying this? I hope not.”

The ‘Harry Potter’ novels were made into a hugely successful series of films starring Daniel Radcliffe as the boy Wizard, Rupert Grint as Ron and Emma Watson as Hermione, and the latter echoes Rowling’s thoughts.

She said: ”I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy.”

Daniel Radcliffe ‘could return’ as Harry Potter

Daniel Radcliffe is open to reprising his role as Harry Potter.

The 24-year-old actor who was catapulted to the spotlight for his role as the beloved wizard boy in the adaptation of J. K. Rowling’s popular children’s book is not going to rule out a spot in the author’s highly anticipated film titled ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, which is an original story based on the adventures of Newt Scamander.

Daniel told hollywoodreporter.com: ”He [Harry] could return if time travel rears its head again. I’ll be intrigued to see what she does.”

The star insists that he doesn’t know what the author’s plans for the movie are but is eager to find out what more about the film which J. K. Rowling has previously described as ”neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world.”

He said: ”I don’t think I’m going to be coming back … we can’t be doing these characters when we’re 40, so there has to be a line drawn.

”Because I never know what Jo [Rowling] is going to write, but at the moment I’m in the same position that everyone else is in — waiting to hear what information is coming out because I don’t know anything about these new films.”

The best-selling author is making her screenwriting debut with a series of movies loosely based on her world-famous franchise about the teenage wizard and his battle against the Dark Lord.

She previously said: ”The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.”

More accusations against Rowling

According to Reuters, J.K. Rowling has joined her editor, Bloomsbury, in refuting accusations she copied elements of the book The Adventures of Willy the Wizard: No. 1 Livid Land, published in 1987.

The author called for a plagiarism case against her to be dismissed today, describing it as "unfounded" and "absurd".

In June, the estate of Adrian Jacobs issued proceedings at London’s High Court against Bloomsbury Publishing, claiming that Rowling copied substantial parts of Jacobs’ book The Adventures of Willy the Wizard — No 1 Livid Land.

It says that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire contains elements copied from Willy the Wizard, including a magicians’ contest and the idea of magicians travelling on trains.

Rowling’s name was added to the case as a defendant. The 44-year old author says in a statement, "I am saddened that yet another claim has been made that I have taken material from another source to write Harry."

She goes on to add, "The fact is I had never heard of the author or the book before the first accusation by those connected to the author’s estate in 2004; I have certainly never read the book."

The seven Harry Potter books have broken publishing records. More than 400 million copies have been sold worldwide in several languages and the film franchise has earned billions of dollars.

J.K. Rowling Reveals a Dark Period

The author of the Harry Potter books does not hide the fact that she went through a dark period before experiencing the summit of her triumph. She has never revealed these details in the past.

According to People, the 42-year-old star opened up and admitted she thought about ending her life at the beginning of the 1990s after separating from her first husband, Portuguese journalist Jorge Arantes.

Rowling stated, "We’re talking suicidal thoughts here, we’re not talking ‘I’m a little bit miserable."

Before starting to write about the young wizard, the author explained that her friends needed to pay her rent.  She added that it was because of her daughter that she was able to ask for help.  She did not want her daughter  to see her in that state.

JK Rowling Feels Exploited

In a lawsuit filed yesterday in a New York court, JK Rowling is attempting to ban the publishing of an unofficial Harry Potter encyclopedia.

The British author told the BBC of Steve Vander Ark’s project to publish the project through RDR Books: "I am very frustrated that a former fan has tried to co-opt my work for financial gain."

Rowling is planning to publish her own encyclopedia including material never seen in her books.

She said: "I believe that RDR‘s book constitutes a Harry Potter rip-off of the type I have spent years trying to prevent."

This is not the first injunction against the publication of Vander Ark’s Harry Potter encyclopedia.  It was originally scheduled to be available to the public last October or November.

JK Rowling sold over 400 million copies world-wide of her Harry Potter books.

J.K. Rowling’s Inspiration

FemaleFirst reported that the author of the Harry Potter series wants to put an end to the speculations that she used her ex-husband as an evil character in her books.

The 42-year-old writer was accused of basing her character, Gilderoy Lockhart, a vain magician, on her ex-husband, Jorge Arantes, whom she married in 1992.

Rowling stated, "None of the characters in my books are based on my ex. Whatever happened in our marriage, the truth is my ex-husband contributed 50 per cent to one of the most beautiful things in my life, my eldest daughter. I’d never use him in a fairytale. He’s her father."

Will There Be an Eighth Harry Potter Book?

According to FemaleFirst, Rowling, who recently released the seventh and final book of the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", admits that she may revive the magical world of Hogwarts one day.  "There have been times since finishing, weak moments, when I’ve said, ‘Yeah, all right,’ to the eighth novel," admitted the British author.

Rowling, who is now writing a book for adults, has considered another Harry Potter book during moments of nostalgia.  She said that she has already thought of the book in her head.  Rowling explained, "If, and it’s a big if, I ever write an eighth book about the wizarding world, I doubt that Harry would be the central character. I feel like I’ve already told his story. But these are big ifs. Let’s give it 10 years and see how we feel then."
