Samsung teams up with Dr Denim to make Z Flip jeans

Now, this is weird.

Samsung Australia and Dr. Denim have collaborated to release the ‘Z Flip Pocket Denim’ limited edition jeans designed to play off the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s retro form factor.

Interestingly, the jeans feature pockets designed exclusively to fit the Z Flip 3 into their pockets.

Samsung partnered with Dr Denim to remove what it describes as big bulky “unfashionable” pockets, and believes the small, square pockets are the next big trend in jeans.

“Smartphones are often not pocket friendly, so we’ve leveraged Dr Denim’s style credentials to design jeans that shake up the pocket norm and perfectly fit our compact Galaxy Z Flip3. Our Galaxy Z Flip3 users expect the very best in design and pocketability, and what better to accompany our premium phones than the perfect pair of bespoke jeans,” said Hayley Walton, head of brand marketing at Samsung Mobile, in a statement.

The companies plan only to release 450 pairs of Z Flip Pocket Denim jeans sold exclusively in Australia for the astounding price of $1,499 AUD (roughly $1,392 CAD).

Chanel nails the blues

To mark the third annual ‘Vogue Fashion Night in Paris,’ French fashion house Chanel will release a new collection of nail polishes, inspired by denim washes, called Les Jeans de Chanel, reports Elle France.

Available in hues ranging from dark to light blue, this limited collection includes three shades of blue: Blue Rebel, Coco Blue and Blue Boy.

The polishes will first be premiered at Vogue’s Fashion Night preview, and then made available exclusively at Chanel boutiques and on Chanel.com for $39 per bottle on September 8.

This year’s trend-defining selection of shades from Chanel follows 2010’s limited-edition khaki-colored polishes.

For those who prefer to stay with the classics, Chanel offers long-wearing, high-shine, chip-resistant nail polishes in numerous strengthening and moisturizing formulas, including the subtle, pale pink Tendresse, the bright and perky Rose Confidentiel, and the delicate Ballerina.

Originally founded by Parisian couturier Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, the brand’s high-end luxury goods – including haute couture and ready-to-wear clothing, handbags, accessories and perfumes – are coveted by discerning fashionistas worldwide. Iconic faces to represent the brand include Catherine Deneuve, Vanessa Paradis, Nicole Kidman, Keira Knightley and the late Hollywood starlet, Marilyn Monroe.

Your baby gets his own jeans

Jeans are the most popular clothing item in the world. 40% of mothers wear them most days of the week and 57% of children get their first pair before they are six months old.

It’s not surprising then that the Huggies company launched a limited edition diaper called Little Movers Jeans. The company’s new mantra for the little ones is "It’s never too early to be fabulous."

Stuart Schneider is senior brand director of Huggies. He stated: "Jeans have always been a Mommy fashion must-have, but now it’s time for their little ones to steal the style. The design helps babies stay trendy while keeping dry with the same revolutionary design and proven leakage protection that moms have come to know and trust from the Huggies brand."

The new diapers have a denim design and will be sold in Canada and the United States throughout June and July.

There is an extensive ad campaign in the works. A press release issued by parent company Kimberly Clark explains: "Utilizing the same tactics as a fashion brand, the team is incorporating a mix of marketing elements that include fashion shows, celebrity partnerships, social media, public relations, digital and e-commerce partnerships, TV, mall and Internet advertising, as well as highly visible and unique in-store displays and cross promotions."

Karl Lagerfeld Gets Japanese Inspiration

For his K collection, German designer Karl Lagerfeld has introduced a 5-pocket jean, and only 250 pairs will be distributed worldwide.

Completely hand-dyed using a natural Japanese method, the Silver Selvage Jean forms a straight line and is distinguished by silver stitching, along with the K logo on the back pocket.

Fashionistas can expect to pay around $320 to get their hands on the men’s and women’s jeans, which go on sale in January.
