Jeremy Renner’s best role is being a father

Jeremy Renner’s "best role" is being a father.

The 46-year-old actor – who has four-year-old daughter Ava with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco – may have had a number of starring roles in Hollywood movies but he says his favourite of all is being a dad.

Asked if he has any roles in the pipeline by Collider.com, he said: "I’m just playing my best role to date as a father."

Meanwhile, Jeremy previously revealed he would love to have eight children.

He said: "I’d like to have eight [kids] running around. A gaggle, a little clan. But at this point, that’s not in my future …

"It takes two. Doing it alone is not fun. You want to share the experience. You kind of want a partner. I’ve done so many amazing, cool-ass things in my life – but I think as we get older, there’s more value in doing something with somebody."

And the ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ star is keen for his daughter to "experience adversity" so she will be prepared for anything that life may throw at her.

He explained: "I think my job as a father is make it impossible for her to find the version of a man that I will show her. That’s my job every day. To be consistent, like the stone in the garden. Sometimes it sucks to be the stone but you need to be there. I want to impart self-assuredness, confidence.

"How to find beauty in herself and how to problem solve and overcome things … I want to put her in front of things and have the experience where she has to make decisions. I want her to experience adversity because I think struggle is so important."

Jeremy Renner wants more kids

Jeremy Renner wants "eight" children.

The 46-year-old actor already has four-year-old daughter Ava with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, but the star has admitted he’d like to expand his brood by another seven babies, although he doesn’t think that’s part of his "future" right now.

He said: "I’d like to have eight [kids] running around. A gaggle, a little clan. But at this point, that’s not in my future."

The ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ actor admits having children is difficult for him at the moment as he’s currently single, and doesn’t want to continue adding to his brood without a special someone on the journey with him.

He added: "It takes two. Doing it alone is not fun. You want to share the experience. You kind of want a partner. I’ve done so many amazing, cool-ass things in my life –but I think as we get older, there’s more value in doing something with somebody."

And Jeremy likened the birth of his daughter to the movie ‘The Matrix’.

He said: "It was like seeing ‘The Matrix’. In a second, everything just opened up and made perfect sense."

‘The Bourne Legacy’ star also admits his divorce from Sonni was "awful" and his number one concern was "continuity" as a parent.

Speaking to Men’s Journal magazine’s September issue, he said: "[The divorce] was awful. Airing dirty laundry, the mudslinging. I don’t give a f**k about my feelings. But do what’s best for the baby. That’s my number one thing as a parent. Continuity and consistency."

Meanwhile, ‘Arrival’ actor recently said becoming a father to Ava gave him "the gift of focus" and claimed it was the "best role he has had to date".

He said: "On the surface, she’s given me the greatest gift in life: the gift of focus and undeniable clarity of what I really want. It’s what real, true, unconditional love is. Say there’s an Oscar on my shelf. Well, that Oscar is not going to be there at my deathbed. My daughter will be. She’s blessed me with thoughts and wisdom about life. It’s a really wonderful gift.

"And now I have the opportunity where I have the luxury of spending a lot of time with Ava, and I want to. Being a father is the best role to date. There’s nothing that’s going to trump it. And that’s a wonderful feeling, to be so secure about what I want to do and what I want to be."

Jeremy Renner and Chris Pratt set up play dates

Jeremy Renner’s daughter has play dates with Chris Pratt’s son.

The 46-year-old actor has four-year-old daughter Ava with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, and has said his house is conveniently situated near that of his ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ co-star Chris, who often brings over his four-year-old son Jack – whom he has with his wife Anna Faris – for play dates.

Jeremy said: "[Chris lives] right there next to me. Our kids play. They go to the same school … They have a good time together."

And 38-year-old Chris isn’t the only neighbour from the Marvel movie franchise that Jeremy has either, as he also lives within walking distance of ‘Captain America’ star Chris Evans and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ actress Elizabeth Olsen.

The star told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: "She’s [Elizabeth’s] like my neighbour. She lives around the corner from me, so I see her all the time. [Evans lives] right up the road."

Meanwhile, ‘The Bourne Legacy’ actor recently said becoming a father to Ava gave him "the gift of focus" and claimed it was the "best role he has had to date".

Tag star Jeremy Renner didn’t know he’d broken his arms

Jeremy Renner broke both of his arms on the set of ‘Tag’ by falling off a "20 feet stack of chairs".

The 46-year-old actor fractured his right elbow and left wrist in July whilst shooting the stunt for the comedy movie ‘Tag’ which is based on a true story featured in The Wall Street Journal in 2013 about a group of friends who have been playing an intense version of the children’s playground game of the same for around 30 years.

Despite his nasty fall, action veteran Renner got back up and shot the scene again not realising the full extent of his injuries.

In an interview on ‘The Howard Stern Show’ on Tuesday (08.01.17), he revealed: "I fell like 20 feet off a stack of chairs. I broke both of my arms, I got back up and did the stunt again."

After completing the sequence, Renner was taken to hospital where he discovered the extent of his injuries.

The Hollywood star – who has played Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2012’s ‘Avengers’ movie – is always prepared to put his body in the line for his roles but he will never take risks when a stunt involves a co-star.

Recalling a snowmobile sequence he shot with Elizabeth Olsen for their film ‘Wind River’, Renner insists he was extra careful.

He told shock jock Stern: "I know my limitations … You’ve just got to be careful because you are responsible for somebody else’s well-being," he explained.

Jeremy Renner wants his daughter to ‘experience adversity’

Jeremy Renner wants his daughter to "experience adversity" so she will be prepared for anything that life may throw at her.

The ‘Avengers’ star accepts that four-year-old Ava – his child with his ex Sonni Pacheco – has a privileged upbringing due to her father’s Hollywood career but he wants her to realize that there’s more to the world than what she has so far experienced.

Renner wants to make sure "she’s able to handle things on her own" and intends to do that by challenging her, whilst also being the most consistent man in her world.

In an exclusive interview with Nobleman magazine, he said: "I think my job as a father is make it impossible for her to find the version of a man that I will show her. That’s my job every day. To be consistent, like the stone in the garden. Sometimes it sucks to be the stone but you need to be there. I want to impart self-assuredness, confidence. How to find beauty in herself and how to problem solve and overcome things … I want to put her in front of things and have the experience where she has to make decisions. I want her to experience adversity because I think struggle is so important."

Renner’s parenting plan comes from the upbringing he had with his own mother Valerie Cearley and father Lee Renner who, despite divorcing when he was 10, always gave him unconditional love and support.

The 46-year-old actor – who is the oldest of seven siblings – shared: "Whether or not she ends up being a mini-me or not, that’s just my ego, I want her to realize who she really is. I want to show her unconditional love and support as well. Growing up I knew that no matter what my parents would love and support me, even if that didn’t completely understand what acting was, I knew they had my back."

Renner is currently recovering from fracturing his right elbow and left wrist which he injured when a stunt on his new movie ‘Tag’ went wrong.

Jeremy Renner’s film advice to Elizabeth Olsen

Jeremy Renner stopped Elizabeth Olsen feeling "overwhelmed" on the ‘Avengers’ set.

The 27-year-old actress worked alongside the actor in the ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, in which she portrayed Wanda Maximoff and Scarlet Witch and he Clint Barton, and has admitted she would have been plagued with anxiety if he wasn’t for his advice.

Speaking to Vulture, she said: "My first day filming on ‘…Ultron’, I was with Jeremy and we were ushering like 400 extras or something and I was really overwhelmed and Jeremy in a very simple way broke down a very human goal about why he’s there, what he’s doing and where his goal was and really simplified it for me."

The pair have also worked together on ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and most recently ‘Wind River’ and it seems their friendship extends further than just co-stars.

The 46-year-old hunk – who was previously married to Sonni Pacheco for less than a year – set tongues wagging over the weekend when he planted a kiss on Elizabeth at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival on Sunday (22.01.17) in Park City, Utah, during an interview.

The talented duo were being grilled on their roles in ‘Wind River’, which sees the brunette beauty play Jane Banner and Jeremy portray Cory Lambert, when the actor thought it would be hilarious to undermine everything his beautiful co-star has said.

He then giggled, planted a friendly kiss on her cheek and told her: "I love you."

This isn’t the first time the pair have been romantically linked as rumours started to swirl a few years back before she was said to be dating her co-star Tom Hiddleston.

However, after weeks of speculation, Elizabeth – who is the sister of twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen – poured cold water on the rumours and stated they were friends.

Amy Adams receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Amy Adams has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The ‘Arrival’ actress was handed the coveted accolade on Wednesday (11.01.17) with her husband Darren Le Gallo and their six-year-old daughter Aviana watching on.

The Italian-born star was introduced by her ‘American Hustle’ co-star and good friend Jeremy Renner, who revealed that the pair first met at a karaoke bar in 1999 shortly after Adams had moved to Los Angeles.

He said: "Amy, you’ve been recognised now as a sensational songbird, a well-respected artist, an award-winning actress, a loving wife and a super parent.

"Today you get yet another title. You’re cemented as a legend amongst legends. You’re a starlet, a genius – but most importantly, you’re always going to be my friend. I love you, and I congratulate you."

And prior to unveiling her star, Amy took the opportunity to thank her family and friends – including Jeremy – for the contribution they have made towards her success.

She said: "I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you all how much I love you … you guys are the best.

"Honestly, I never expected I would have friends and family who would stand by me, who would ground me and who would come today to celebrate me."

The five-time Oscar nominee is currently among the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood, but recently credited much of her career success to being a redhead.

The actress said that the decision to change her hair colour helped to transform her professional life.

Amy said: "Based on roles that I was getting, called in for, people were responding to certain types of characters with me as a blonde and the minute I went red, it was quirky and fun instead of flirtatious and dumb.

"It was great, I liked that. But in all seriousness, it’s just hair colour. It was really fascinating to see just one element of yourself change people’s perception and that became a very powerful tool for me even in my acting."

Amy Adams: Motherhood opened my eyes

Amy Adams says motherhood "opened her eyes".

The ‘Arrival’ star welcomed daughter Aviana into the world six years ago and admits she would have taken a completely different approach to playing a grieving mother in the science fiction film if she was childless.

She said: "It would have been a very different performance. I just have a different relationship with compassion since becoming a parent, and compassion for other people – not just my daughter.

"It opened up my eyes and got me outside of myself. I hate to think that I was so wrapped up in my own stuff before I had her but I was, so now I’m able to look at things from a different lens. It took me out of myself."

And her co-star Jeremy Renner – who has three-year-old Ava with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco – agreed with Amy, admitting having a child "essentially personalises selflessness".

He told Sky News: "It personalises selflessness essentially. You’re already built with compassion and empathy as a woman I think, but then you have your own child, it makes it very personal understanding that selflessness."

Meanwhile, the 42-year-old actress previously admitted her daughter – who she has with husband Darren Le Gallo – doesn’t think she’s very "rock ‘n’ roll".

She said: "She defines herself differently to me and I like that. She said, ‘Mum, I’m more rock ‘n’ roll than you. You’re not very rock ‘n’ roll.’ And I said, ‘You’re right.’ …

"I don’t know if I feel more powerful as an actress but I feel powerful as a mother and more powerful than I did in my 20s. I dont know what that means for my career – that’s yet to be seen. But as a woman, if I lose something because of the honesty of who I am, then I don’t care."

Jeremy Renner: Fatherhood has helped me focus

Jeremy Renner says fatherhood has given him "the gift of focus".

The ‘Captain America: Civil War’ star welcomed daughter Ava into the world three years ago and believes it is the "best role he has had to date".

And the 45-year-old actor – who has Ava with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco – also joked his daughter will likely to be causing problems in the future because she’s "drop-dead gorgeous and wicked smart".

He told the new issue of #legend magazine: "Ava was such an angel baby and never acted out. I want to have, like, five of them. I just want to come home and have five girls adoring their daddy. The idea of that sounds fun, but once it sinks in, that diminishes the amount of time spent in the preciousness of each individual child. So I’m just happy I have Ava in my life. I’m pretty happy with that …

"I see her tenacity. She’s got a lot of strength. She’s pretty fearless and I’d like to keep it that way. She’s going to create a lot of problems for me in life, but really great problems, you know? She’s drop-dead gorgeous and wicked smart. She’s very powerful and I’m just going to give her skill sets to guide her. It’s an amazing thing."

Jeremy Renner settles child support dispute

Jeremy Renner has settled another dispute with his ex-wife over child support.

The 45-year-old actor and his former partner Sonni Pacheco have been at loggerheads since they divorced in 2015 after spending just 10 months as a married couple.

In the latest dispute, Sonni claimed that the ‘Avengers’ actor was behind in child support payments for their three-year-old daughter Ava but he has now settled the issue by agreeing to pay $16,000 in child support as well as $24,000 for her lawyer and accountant.

Sonni has also claimed that ‘American Hustle’ actor has been posting too many pictures of their daughter on social media, despite Jeremy previously stating that he doesn’t show Ava’s face in order to "protect" her.

He said: "I still don’t expose my baby’s face, just to protect her or anyone in my family [who’s] a minor. I just think that’s not my decision to make. You know what I mean? You don’t need to be world famous just because your jackass dad is."

The pair share joint custody of their daughter, with Jeremy paying $13,000 a month in child support. The costs for the star don’t stop there, as he even has to pay his ex-wife 5 per cent of his earnings if he earns more than $2.3 million per year as part of their divorce settlement which was finalized in December 2015.

The constant arguments – which predominately center around money – has led to Jeremy saying Sonni needs to move on with her life and get a job.

The actor – who recently reprised his role as Hawkeye in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ – denies Sonni’s claims, and previously said that being a dad was the "best role" he’s had.

He said: "[Fatherhood] really kind of changed my perspective on a lot of things. It’s kind of screwed my career in a lot of ways. Because I don’t really care about [my career] so much because I care about her so much. She’s like number one in my life. And now I get to do movies on the side. Daddy’s my best role to date, I think."
