Is John Travolta Done with Scientology?

According to DailyMail.co.uk, Travolta is getting ready to put Scientology aside in the wake of his son’s death.

The Grease star and wife Kelly Preston, two of the most famed disciples of the Church of Scientology, are still in great pain, and must eventually accept their tragic destiny of losing their 16-year-old son, Jett, who died of a heart attack during a family vacation in the Bahamas last January.

The young boy had been suffering from epilepsy since childhood, but was not given medication to treat his condition, since the religion of Scientology generally opposes the use of medication. The sudden loss of his son has allegedly prompted Travolta to form doubts about his faith, which he has been following for the past 34 years.

According to Scientology expert Rick Moss, "There have been strong rumours coming out of Scientology that John Travolta is disappointed that the religion was not able to help his son more. It’s led him to question his faith."

However, Paul Bloch, a rep for the actor, denies the rumour. "There’s no change in the relationship between the Church of Scientology and John. He is a member and it’s as it was, now and forever," he declared.

Kelly Preston To Discuss Son’s Death

Since the sudden death of Jett at age 16, surviving parents Kelly Preston and John Travolta have been mourning his death in private.

In October, Preston will face the public to talk about her experience at a conference, held by Maria Shriver, for governors’ wives.

According to People, Preston took a long time to reflect before she agreed to participate in the event, which is intended to help women deal with grief, no matter what type of loss it is.

"If she can empower one other woman who feels like they can’t get out of bed, or get through the day, whatever the loss, it’ll be worthwhile sharing her story," Shriver said about Preston.

For the Grief & Resilience panel of the conference, Preston will be accompanied by Elizabeth Edwards and actress Susan St. James, who have also lost their sons.

The conference will take place on October 26-27.
