John Travolta Is Working in France

Le Parisien is reporting that the actor will spend twelve weeks in Seine-Saint-Denis working on the film From Paris With Love.  Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Match Point) will also star in the film.

Under the direction of Pierre Morel (Taken), From Paris With Love follows the story of secret agents.

The project is being produced by Europa Corp., owned by Luc Besson, and the set is located in a demolished building where the action scenes will be shot.  The film is expected to be released in 2009.

In the meantime, we can next see John Travolta in the film The Taking of Pelham 123 on July 31, 2009.

A Remake for Ramon Rodriguez

The Hollywood Reporter announced that actor Ramon Rodriguez will be starring in the thriller Taking of Pelham 123.  The film is a remake of the 1974 film, which starred Walter Matthau.

In the film, New York police officers must negotiate with hijackers, who want a huge ransom to release subway passengers.

John Travolta will play the leader of the hijackers, while Denzel Washington will be the officer negotiating the release of the hostages.  Rodriguez will play Washington’s best friend.

The film, which will be directed by Tony Scott, will be released on July 31, 2009.

In the meantime, we can see Ramon Rodriguez in Pride and Glory with Colin Farrell and Edward Norton on October 24.

John Travolta Defends Tom Cruise

Travolta defended Cruise who is his friend and a fellow Scientologist. There were videos released from 2004 showing the star of Mission Impossible speaking on behalf of his church. Cruise was arguing that scientology could resolve many problems worldwide.

According to Travolta, the tabloids have gone too far in this matter. He told an Australian paper, "[Tom] has – we all have – the right to practice how we feel."

Travolta added, "It finally becomes unfair."  

Travolta was in Australia to honour Kylie Minogue with an award for her commitment to humanitarian causes. Travolta’s co-star from the musical Grease, Olivia Newton-John, performed at this event.

These Boots Are Made For Helping

The artistic talent of many celebrities is being utilized to decorate UGG boots, which is a cross between a flat boot and a slipper. The profits will be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

The word that inspired celebrities with their creation was "hope". Simpson used flowers and butterflies, while Longoria prefers to decorate the boots with hearts and her autograph.

Other stars that participated in this project were Penelope Cruz, John Travolta, Cindy Crawford, Minnie Driver, Miley Cyrus, Matthew McConaughey, Liv Tyler, Ellen DeGeneres, Ashton Kutcher, Ashlee Simpson, Kelly Ripa and Kelly Preston.

This unique UGG boot collection will be available until December 14.

John Travolta To Play Terrorist

Travolta will star in the film along with actor Denzel Washington.  They will be directed by Tony Scott in the Columbia production.

Travolta will play Mr. Blue, the head of a group who holds the passengers of a subway hostage for ransom.  He plans to kill the passengers if his demands are not met.  Denzel Washington will play a subway security detective who tries to stop the crime.

The film is a remake of a 1974 film, which starred Robert Shaw and Walter Mattay.  The new screenplay will be written by David Koepp.

A Proposed Boycott of Hairspray

Shankman is responding to a boycott that has been suggested by a journalist who feels that John Travolta should not be playing a woman in the film.  Travolta plays Edna Turnblad, a gay icon, which does not sit well with Kevin Naff of the gay newspaper Washington Blade.  

Shankman is shocked at Naff’s proposal of a boycott, saying that Travolta has no probelms with homosexuals.  He said, "I am stunned this has gotten that far. He (Naff) has made the dumbest claims on the entire planet. Everybody involved in Hairspray – all the creators are gay. So John has no problem with people being gay – me, the writers, composer, John Waters – all gay. John’s personal beliefs never walked onto my set. I never heard the word Scientology".

Seth Green To Star in New Film

Green will work with Robin Williams, John Travolta, Kelly Preston and Matt Dillon in the comedy being directed by Walt Becker for Walt Disney Studios.

The comedy follows the story of two friends and colleagues who have their lives turned upside down when they begin taking care of seven year-old twins.  Green will play an executive with the marketing firm owned by Williams’ and Travolta’s characters.

We know Seth Green from the Austin Powers films, but also from the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

John Travolta Talks About Sexual Orientation

The actor, who plays a woman in the film Hair Spray, insists that speculations regarding his sexual orientation will not make or break his career.  According to Travolta, it is the quality of his work that will affect his career.

Travolta, 53, who has two children with his wife, actress Kelly Preston, has been married for 15 years, but rumours of his homosexuality still persist.

The actor told W magazine for their July issue, "No. What affects your career is the quality of the product. I don’t think anyone can hurt me."

John Travolta’s Nocturnal Life

The Wild Hogs star, who lives with his wife Kelly Preston and their two children, revealed that his family stays awake most of the night, and sleeps during the day.

Travolta told Parade magazine, "We’re like the Addams Family or the Munsters, living a sort of odd, nocturnal life. My kids probably stay up too late. My wife goes to bed around 3am, and I follow around 7am – but it works."

Travolta added that they live their life at night to avoid the paparazzi.  The family lives on a ranch in Ocala, Florida, which boasts the longest private airstrip in the United States.

John Travolta Is A Fanatic For Scientology

Travolta is such a fan of the religion, that he regularly takes his private jet from his Ocala home to the church headquarters in Clearwater, Florida.

The Grease star also admits that he often stays awake all night listening to Scientology audio tapes to help him with his life.  Travolta told Parade magazine, "It’s a one-on-one programme that’s designed to help you handle life."
