Justin Bieber missed the Grammys to be with friends

Justin Bieber skipped the Grammy Awards to spend time with his friends.

The 23-year-old singer was a notable absentee from the bash in New York City on Sunday (28.01.18), when he was instead spotted spotted hanging out with friends and a few fans in Santa Monica, California.

An eyewitness told ‘Entertainment Tonight’ that Justin was "in a low key, good mood and was very sweet".

In his absence, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee still took the stage with vocalist and Miss Universe 2006 Zuleyka Rivera to perform a rendition ‘Despacito’.

Justin previously appeared on a remix of the track, but according to Luis, the chart-topping star – who rekindled his romance with Selena Gomez in 2017 – declined his invitation to perform.

The singer – whose single received three Grammy nominations – said: "Of course we extended the invitation. He’s part of the nomination and he helped the song grow even more, and I’m so proud of the job that he did. I’m so proud that he decided to sing most of the song in Spanish … so we’re very grateful.

"He’s a good friend, he’s a good guy, so hopefully, we’ll be able to celebrate together."

Meanwhile, Luis also admitted to be being anxious about performing at the Grammys as a Latin artist.

Speaking prior to the ceremony, he confessed: "I’m a little nervous, I’m not gonna lie. This is really big. Not only for me but for Latin music in general, to be able to sing a song in Spanish for the big show. I’m really proud to be here.

"Being from Puerto Rico, growing up here in the United States, I’ve always been so proud of my roots and my language, and all these artists who are performing, they’ve all influenced me.

"So to be able to celebrate a little bit of who I am and where I’m from, and to share with the world, and break that language barrier – especially after everything that [Puerto Rico has] been going through – this is already just good vibes for everybody."

Justin Bieber’s mother is proud of the "amazing man" her son has become.

Pattie Mallette has posted a gushing Instagram post about the 23-year-old pop star just days after the mother of Selena Gomez, his girlfriend, admitted she did not approve of her daughter’s relationship with Justin.

Pattie, 42, shared a photograph of herself and Justin embracing on board a yacht, and she captioned it: "I’m so proud of the amazing young man you are, and the young man you are becoming.

"None of us are perfect and never will be, (so we will always need patience and grace for each other), but your genuine growing relationship with Jesus is evident in the choices you are making daily and the good "fruit" you bear. I admire your character and integrity. You are maturing beautifully and wise beyond your years. You are so funny that I find myself laughing out loud when I’m alone, remembering of something you said or did. And your heart is gold. I love you to the moon and back. #lovemom

"Ps. Did I mention I was proud of you? (sic)."

Justin rose to fame as a child after his mother began posting videos of him performing on YouTube, and she managed his career in its early stages.

The ‘Baby’ star has been dating actress-and-singer Selena, 25, on-and-off since 2009.

But the brunette beauty’s mother, Mandy Teefey, recently admitted she is "not happy" about them rekindling their relationship late last year.

Mandy said: "Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy…

"She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health. I do not control her the way it has been portrayed. Selena is an adult and can make her own choices."

Justin Bieber keeps backstage segregated

Justin Bieber keeps his own backstage area totally segregated from his support acts.

The ‘Sorry’ hitmaker mysteriously called off the remainder of his ‘Purpose’ world tour back in July due to "unforeseen circumstances" but, prior to cancelling his gigs, he had great fun playing with segways and other "cool toys" before his shows – but all the artists performing before him could do was watch, and they had no chances of being asked to join in as Justin doesn’t mingle.

Rothwell, who supported him in the UK, exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I didn’t get to meet him. Coldplay do that and they’re amazing for it but he had one end of the backstage and we had the rest. It was amazing backstage.

"There were things we weren’t really allowed to go on like segways and lots of toys and cool things. But we weren’t allowed to go on them, it just wasn’t really for us to touch.

"We wouldn’t want to step on anyone’s toes and then there was this band room, which was so cool. It was near our dressing room and you go look through the window and they’re all rehearsing and I think it’s where they go to write as well."

But the 23-year-old pop superstar made sure only the best grub was available for him and his support act on tour as they were able to tuck into meat feasts and cheese.

Rothwell explained: "I just love catering on tour. The food was really good. I think I had pork with potato dauphinoise. There’s cheese boards and this fantastic stuff."

Throughout his time in the limelight, Justin has had numerous run ins with the law but Rothwell believes he’s just trying to relive his "teenage years" because he spent so much of it writing and creating music instead of experiencing growing up.

She said: "I saw him briefly walking down the corridor. He was strutting his stuff with all of his security guards. I think he’s a teenager because he lost his teenage years. He’s probably just re-living that and having a great time but I think it’s tricky when you have so many people following you and you don’t want to do anything because if he did the slightest thing, anyone could just twist it and make it unfair.

It comes after the pop hunk flew into Mexico to celebrate New Year’s Eve (31.12.17) with the 25-year-old beauty.

The pair reportedly met up in Cabo San Lucas – where she was partying with her pals – for some low-key celebrations watching fireworks with close friends.

A source said at the time: "He and Selena spent time together again. They were very low-key and dressed casually.

"They rang in the New Year together and enjoyed watching fireworks over the ocean."

Another source added: "Justin had a great new year’s Eve with Selena. He is looking forward to 2018 with her.

"It was a special evening shared with a few close friends in a beautiful place."

Days before reuniting with Selena, Justin had spent some quality time with his family in the Mexican city of Cancun.

An insider revealed: "Justin flew in to Cabo on a private jet from Cancun where he spent a few days with his family.

"He arrived on Saturday evening and checked into an ocean-front villa 10 minutes away from Selena’s villa where she was staying."

Selena jetted out to Cabo from Los Angeles on Boxing Day (26.12.17) on a private plane with her girl pals, but there was no sign of Justin at the time.

A source said: "She seemed very excited when she landed and was giggling with her friends and taking photos.

"They are all planning to do some fun dinners and spend New Year’s Eve together."

Selena and Justin rekindled their romance over a month ago, just weeks after she split from her boyfriend The Weeknd.

Justin reached out to Selena last year after she underwent a life-saving kidney transplant.

There was reportedly no sign of Selena’s on/off boyfriend Justin Bieber when the girls touched down in Mexico.

After they rekindled their romance over a month ago – just weeks after she split from her boyfriend The Weeknd – they were rumoured to be ringing in the New Year together, however, that looks unlikely now.

The past 12 months has been a tough year for Selena and her family after she went into hospital to have a kidney transplant.

The singer-and-actress underwent the life-saving operation after her battle with autoimmune disease Lupus – in which the body attacks healthy cells – which had caused the health of her organs to deteriorate.

The ‘What Do You Mean?’ singer reached out to Selena after he heard about her her serious illness, which made him realise how much he loved her.

However, Selena welcoming Justin back into her life hasn’t been easy.

Although it was initially thought her mum Mandy Teefey was fuming with the reconciliation because she could never forgive the 23-year-old singer for the way he treated her daughter, it’s believed their bond has been fraught since before then anyway.

Selena Gomez’s mother was reportedly rushed to hospital last week after she got herself worked up over her daughter’s new rekindled relationship with Justin Bieber.

Mandy Teefey was taken to a welfare centre in Los Angeles, California, for a health check recently following a "heated conversation" with the ‘Wolves’ hitmaker about her reunion with the pop hunk, who has had a number of run ins with the law.

According to TMZ, Mandy locked horns with Selena after she learnt how "serious" their reunion was because, as far as she’s concerned, she will never forgive him for how he treated her daughter during their 2014 split.

However, Justin is determined to prove to her loved ones that he’s grown up and is a changed man because he’s "aware" that they’re not keen on him.

A source said previously: "Justin is aware Selena’s family is not thrilled they are hanging out. They think he caused Selena a lot of grief. Justin hopes he can prove to them that he has changed. Justin Bieber Sorry lawsuit dropped

A singer has dropped a lawsuit against Justin Bieber.

Casey Dienel has filed paperwork to dismiss a suit against the ‘Never Say Never’ hitmaker, in which she claimed his track ‘Sorry’ featured "unique characteristics of the female vocal riff" similar to her 2014 song ‘Ring the Bell’, according to TMZ.

The 32-year-old singer/songwriter, who is also known as White Hinterland, filed the lawsuit in 2016, months after ‘Sorry’ dropped in October 2015.

The track – which was produced by Skrillex – is the second single from his fourth studio album ‘Purpose’.

In the lawsuit, Casey also claimed both songs feature keyboard synthesizers, samples, synth bass, drums, and percussion.

She also named Skrillex and the song’s writers as defendants in the suit.

This comes after Justin recently revealed he has been working on new ways to "be generous".

Last week, the 23-year-old singer shared his five daily goals with his Instagram followers, which see him taking on different challenges to improve the quality of his life, each of which must be done five times.

The goals were written on a whiteboard, which read: "Daily goals "1. Find 5 ways to be generous "2. Set 5 things that you want to accomplish "3. Face 5 things you have been running from "4. Give up 5 bad habits "5. Eat 5 healthy meals (sic)"

Sources recently claimed Justin is doing his best to prove to his girlfriend Selena Gomez – with whom he recently rekindled his romance after a five-year on/off relationship from 2010 to 2015 – that he is a "better man" now.

An insider said: "Justin wants to be a better man because he doesn’t want to screw things up with Selena. He knows he’s lucky to have this second chance and he’s not taking it for granted. And the truth is, this ‘transformation’ hasn’t been all that difficult for him because he wants it."
