Justin Bieber remixes Drake single

Pop star Justin Bieber continues to delve into the world of hip-hop with a new cover of Drake’s Trust Issues, reports MTV.

Bieber announced the new track via Twitter during the lead up to the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night (August 28): "i remixed drakes trust issues," he wrote, including a link to YouTube.

Thanks to auto-tune, the teen’s voice has been pitched to match the deeper timbre of fellow Canadian Drake, making his cover almost an exact copy of the original – save one important exception: to keep things PG-13 for his younger fans, Bieber has swapped out the f-bombs and other colorful language for more benign terms.

Although the singer has been trying his hand at rap under the pseudonym Shawty Mane, this time around, Bieber sticks to singing, leaving Drake’s rap intact.

Earlier this month, Bieber teamed up with frequent collaborator Chris Brown to rap on Brown’s new mixtape, Boy in Detention, spitting some verses for the track Ladies Love Me.

Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga videos yanked in prank

Pop stars Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga were the victim of a prank that saw many of their popular music videos removed from video streaming site Vevo.

A YouTube user calling himself iLcreation contacted the site to file a copyright complaint, claiming he held the rights to Bieber and Gaga’s music video catalogues. Since YouTube errs on the side of copyright caution, company policy dictates that the videos be taken down until the copyright issues can be resolved.

This resulted in Bieber’s entire catalogue – including his hit single Baby which boasted a record-breaking six million views – and several Gaga videos being stripped from the website Sunday night (August 28).

"Someone is making false copyright claims against the Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga channels and YouTube has blocked access to the videos as a result," a Vevo rep told TMZ yesterday (August 29). "We are working with YouTube to resolve ASAP."

The videos are now back online.

Justin Bieber the rapper?

Pop star Justin Bieber has teamed up with R&B crooner Chris Brown again, this time trying his skills at rap as he features on Brown’s first mixtape, Boy in Detention.

Performing under his MC moniker Shawty Mane – which he previously busted out in a Twitter video posted last year – Bieber spits some rhymes on the track Ladies Love Me. Rapping alongside Brown, the teen star swaps verses with the R&B performer over a sample of their previous collab Look at Me Now.

"Did a lil something on the upcoming @chrisbrown mixtape. Ladies love me," Bieber wrote on Twitter last week.

Despite receiving some positive reviews for his efforts at rapping, the young singer insists he has no plans to change genres: "I just do it for fun, but nothing serious. I don’t think people would take me seriously if I came out with, like, a rap album," he told XXL Magazine.

Boy in Detention is currently streaming on YouTube. Fans can listen to Bieber’s latest foray into rap here.

Justin Bieber taking a month off

Teen pop star Justin Bieber has announced that he is taking a month off before returning to the studio to start work on his new album, reports MSN.

Only 17, the singer says that a break will give him a chance to mature and gain some perspective.

"It’s been great to just think and enjoy hanging out with my friends," explained Bieber. "I’m still growing up, and when you’re working every day, you don’t really get a chance to figure out who you are. So with the time off, I’m able to think, pray and just kind of grow up."

The teen heart-throb is currently working on the follow-up to his extremely successful album, My World 2.0. The 2010 album topped international charts and launched the young singer to stardom.

For his next album, he’ll be working with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, including Chris Brown, Kanye West and Drake.

Bieber, who was just 13 years old when he was discovered by producer Scooter Braun, is the youngest artist to chart seven hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
