Justin Bieber collaborates with hip-hop stars

Pop star Justin Bieber has signed a slew of big name collaborators to feature on his next album, reports Orange UK.

The teen heart-throb is currently working on the follow-up to his extremely successful album, My World 2.0. The 2010 album topped international charts and launched the young singer to stardom.

For his next album, he’ll be working with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, including Chris Brown, Kanye West and possibly Drake.

Bieber previously teamed up with Brown on Next 2 You, a track off Brown’s latest album, F.A.M.E. The two were spotted back in the studio together on Monday (July 18).

Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, also confirmed that he will be working with West: "Him and Kanye had a call today about a song they’re trying to work on together," Braun told Rap-up.com. "Kanye wants to produce a bunch of songs for the new album."

My World 2.0 debuted at number one on the Billboard 100, selling 283,000 copies in its first week.

New Justin Bieber song will take its cue from NKOTB

Grammy Award-winning record producer Jim Jonsin has big plans for Justin Bieber when the pair hit the studio – including a track inspired by New Kids on the Block, reports MTV.

"I want to try to do something like that – Please Don’t Go Girl, New Kids on the Block – because the girls would go crazy," explained Jonsin. "Maybe not that song, but something that feels like that: little bit of soul, R&B, but pop as well."

Please Don’t Go Girl – written by Maurice Starr – was NKOTB’s first commercial hit. Released in 1988 on their second album, Hangin’ Tough, the track is actually four years older than the teen pop star.

Jonsin also plans to channel the sound of ’80s tween band New Edition during his recording time with Bieber.

The singer’s studio time won’t just be based on the era of acid wash jeans, however. Jonsin says he’ll also draw inspiration from R&B artist Kelly Rowland.

"I’d love to put him on something like that Motivation type of track," added Jonsin. "Just a hard beat that he could sing something super slick [on]."

Jonsin has collaborated with a number of major artists over the course of his career, including Beyoncé, Kanye West and Eminem. In 2006, he founded Rebel Rock Entertainment, the label responsible for launching American rapper B.o.B. to stardom.

Justin Bieber’s Someday is strictly for girls

The recently launched Someday fragrance from international music icon Justin Bieber is strictly for girls – at least for now – according to a report from celebrity blogger, Coco Perez.

"I’m not opposed to [working on a male fragrance], but I’m more into how females smell.” Bieber said. “Guys are the people smelling the perfume on the girls. It’s not the other girls. So I think that’s the smarter thing."

No doubt taking his cue from other celebs before him – like Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears – 17-year-old Bieber’s first foray with fragrances produced the unisex-marketed My World in late 2010. His sophomore Someday fragrance, packaged in a curvy, feminine bottle topped with a heart-shaped flower, hit stores earlier this month and is expected to earn an estimated $30 million in sales.

No stranger to frenzied fanfare, the young star recently sustained slight injuries greeting New Yorkers outside a Macy’s event on June 23. An overzealous man reportedly jumped a barricade, attacking Bieber and knocking him to the ground. His family and security immediately came to his aid, and the shaken teen was safely hustled back inside the store with no further incident.

Someday is available as an eau de parfum spray, priced at $35 for a 1-ounce bottle; $45 for the 1.7-ounce version; and $55 for 3.4-ounce bottle.

No limits for Justin Bieber

With a new album in the works, pop star Justin Bieber is taking his time writing and recording, not wanting to rush or limit himself with preconceived notions of genre and style, reports MTV.

"I’m not gonna really limit myself," he responded when asked about the sound of the new album. "I think music is music, and genre – I mean, I know there’s country music, there’s rock music – but my music is different. My voice is not meant for any style. I just want to make music."

The singer said the album is still in the writing and recording stages, and he doesn’t have a firm deadline for when he expects to be finished. For now, he’s still creating and wants the time and opportunity to explore.

"I want to work a lot with myself," said the teen pop star, having collaborated with big name acts like Kanye West, Ludacris, Chris Brown and Rascal Flatts. "And [I want to] write a lot myself. I will be working with a lot of other producers and stuff like that, but I’m just writing a lot, writing on tour."

The new album will be well worth the wait, promises Bieber, who said he’s "writing about how I feel… I’ve been producing on my laptop and on my computer. I’ve been really into it and, hopefully, this next album will be huge."

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez to duet?

The recent romance of teen pop-stars Justin Bieber, 17, and Selena Gomez, 18, have provided plenty of fodder for celebrity media, and now there are rumors that the two may immortalize their romance forever in a song, reports Hollywire.

The Wizards of Waverly Place star recently raised the possibility of a duet with her boyfriend during her visit to the talk show Good Morning America. The young star hinted that she could not really talk about it, but never actually came out and said no.

“I’m not sure [about a duet with Justin],” she said. “Whenever I do songs I kind of do it organically. So if it happens, it happens.”

Even if the duet fails to materialize, Gomez is busy with her career. Her latest film, the comedy Monte Carlo, co-starring Katie Cassidy and Leighton Meester, opens on August 24.

Lady Gaga queen of the MMVAs

Last night (June 19), at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada, Lady Gaga opened the show with her usual theatrical flair, exiting from her ‘cocoon’ and metamorphosizing into her pop star persona with a blazing rendition of her latest hit Edge of Glory, reports the Daily Mail.

The singer played to the crowd, saying, “You guys may not know this, but I love everything about Canada,” as she took home two awards: most popular international artist in the fan category, and best international video for Judas.

Seventeen-year-old Justin Bieber was the other big winner, joining his girlfriend, host Selena Gomez, onstage to accept his awards for fan-voted favorite artist, and best international Canadian video, which he share with hip-hop star Drake.

At one point Bieber joked with Gomez, “You’re very beautiful. Maybe we could go out sometime?”

R&B star Taio Cruz won for most-watched video and most-streamed video for his smash hit Dynamite. Gaga closed the show with a performance of her hit song Born This Way.

Pop star Justin Bieber will perform a charity concert in Saratoga, California on June 11, with proceeds going towards College Track, a charity that helps coach disadvantaged college-hopefuls on how to get accepted, reports Teen Music.

"College Track is an after-school, college preparatory program that works to increase high school graduation, college eligibility and enrollment, and college graduation rates in under-resourced communities," the charity explains on its website.

Smells like teen spirit

Canadian teen idol Justin Bieber, 17, launched his first women’s fragrance called Someday, recently unveiling the ad campaign, reports Coco Perez. All proceeds will benefit some of Bieber’s favorite charities, including Pencils of Promise, which builds schools.

After the pop phenomenon’s successful foray into the world of fragrance with My World scented unisex dog tags last year, this month he unveiled Someday, a fruity scent in a clear glass bottle topped with a heart-shaped flower, and removable charms dangling from the neck.

“Let’s be real, the way a girl smells is very important to a guy,” Bieber wrote in an e-mail to WWD. “I have such a deep connection with my fans, so creating a fragrance that I personally love is another way I can bring them closer to my world.”

The video, which was filmed in a gravity-free cabin of a Boeing 737 NASA training jet, stars Bieber who nuzzles beautiful blonde model Dree Hemingway, and after a spritz of Someday perfume, suddenly appears to be flying and soaring through the clouds into the sunset with the handsome young pop star – a fantasy many a young girl can relate to.

The commercial’s tag line ‘Never Let Go’ also happens to be the name of his upcoming album. Print ads will debut next month in magazines, and the television commercial premiered yesterday evening (May 24) during this season’s final episode of Glee.

“They really let me take the lead on the entire project, because I know my fans better than anyone,” Bieber told WWD. The eau de parfum will retail for $35 for 1 oz., $45 for 1.7 oz. and $55 for a 3.4 oz. bottle. Body lotion will also be available, and hair mist.

Bieber fans can purchase a special limited edition of the fragrance online at justinbiebersomeday.com, and Someday will be available June 20 in selected stores.

Justin Bieber to appear in Chris Brown music video

The Justin Bieber-Chris Brown collaboration keeps growing, and now the pop star is set to begin working on the music video for Brown’s single Next 2 You off his recent F.A.M.E. album, reports MTV.

Scooter Braun, Bieber’s manager, broke the news through Twitter. "#Next2You w/ @justinbieber and @chrisbrown – video treatment is crazy … yeah it’s coming!!" he wrote yesterday (May 10).

Brown, who also features on Bieber’s album Never Say Never – The Remixes, recently surprised fans in Australia by appearing on stage during the teen’s concert and joining in the performance.

"Being able to collab with [Bieber] was great. He’s a young, energetic cat, so being able to work with him, with the fan-base he has, was incredible. I know a lot of little girls are going to love this record," said Brown.

"I wouldn’t say [he’s] my protégé. He’s doing his thing at a young age, and I was doing mine at a young age, so being able to see him come up is dope."
