Justin Bieber to get Glee treatment

One day after learning that the first single and title track from upcoming Lady Gaga album Born This Way will be featured on the popular television series Glee, the show’s creators have announced that the most popular teen artist of the moment, Justin Bieber, will also have a song featured on the show.

Despite a thin discography, Justin Bieber, has managed to conquer the hearts of millions of girls worldwide, which just happens to be Glee’s target audience. Thus, one of his songs will take centre stage in a scene between Sam Evans, a character played by Chord Overstreet, and his girlfriend Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron).Although co-creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed the use of Bieber’s repertoire, it was unknown exactly which song will be chosen for the episode in question, which is scheduled to air in early spring.

Last week, Murphy dispelled rumours that Justin Bieber’s music would be at the heart of a full episode of Glee, explaining that the Canadian’s musical catalog was not specific enough to merit the same treatment received by Madonna and Britney Spears.

Kanye West wants to work with Justin Bieber

American hip-hop star Kanye West has approached Canadian pop star Justin Bieber about producing songs for Bieber’s new album, reports StarPulse.

The 33-year-old rapper and teenage pop star might seem an odd pairing, but it would not be their first collaboration. Last year, West admitted that he couldn’t stop listening to Bieber’s song Runaway Love, and the two ended up hitting the studio to record a remix, along with rapper Raekwon.

Now it seems that West, who has been receiving accolades for his new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, is keen to continue working with the young singer on new material.

"Kanye wants to produce a bunch of new songs for the album," said Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, during a webchat with his client’s fans.

Braun revealed that Bieber is also discussing his new album with several other big names, including Drake, Rascal Flatts and Chris Brown.

West, meanwhile, has been working with Jay-Z on a collaborative studio album, Watch the Throne, which is due out this year.

Justin Bieber wants to be like Michael Jackson

The least we can say is that Justin Bieber has ambition. Posing for the cover of the February issue of Vanity Fair, the teen heartthrob, who turns 17 on March 1, admits in an interview that he wants to become as famous as Michael Jackson.

“Michael [Jackson] was able to reach audiences from young to old; he never limited himself,” Bieber says of the King of Pop. “He was so broad, everybody loved him, and that’s what my goal is—to basically make people happy, to inspire them, and to have everyone root for me.”

For now, Bieber is content with his mostly female fan base. “For younger guys, it’s like [they think] they’re not cool if they come to my concert. That’ll [change], I think; it’ll happen, maybe when I’m 18. But meanwhile all their girlfriends are coming to watch me.”

The young performer is forthcoming about his detractors. “Of course, I think that people are just waiting for that time when I make a mistake and they’re gonna jump on it….There’s gonna be haters,” Bieber told the magazine.

Willow Smith to remake dad’s song?

Young singer and actress Willow Smith, 10, daughter of actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett, is considering the possibility of recording a new version of her father’s 1988 rap song Parents Just Don’t Understand.

The Whip My Hair hitmaker said she is a big fan of the song and told Yahoo Music, “There’s a possibility that I will. It’s a really great song.”

The original, ironically her dad’s rebellious rap about conservative parents, won the best rap performance Grammy award in 1989 for DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (aka Will Smith).

Canadian singer Justin Bieber, 16, plans to team up with Willow Smith for the European leg of his world tour.

Earlier in 2010, Bieber also worked with the Smith family when he recorded Never Say Never with Jaden Smith, Willow’s older brother, for the soundtrack of his film Karate Kid.

Justin Bieber collaborating with Chris Brown?

According to Billboard, popular Canadian singer Justin Bieber, 16, may team up with R&B-pop star Chris Brown, 21.

According to Brown, he and the famous teenager collaborated on a new song which is set to debut early next year.

"ME and @justinbieber got a BANGER/SMASH record for all the fans out there at the top of the NEW YEAR!!! 2011 #BREEZYTAKEOVER,” Brown Tweeted on Christmas Day.

There has been no comment yet from Bieber, although he’s been a long-time fan of Brown’s. One of Bieber’s most popular YouTube videos is a cover he did of Brown’s With You performed on acoustic guitar and uploaded in 2008.

The collaboration would be one of Brown’s most high-profile associations since he plead guilty to assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. The backlash of public opinion against the singer has had major repercussions on his career.

It is not clear whether the new song will appear on Beiber or Brown’s next album, although Bieber has confirmed a collaboration with country group Rascal Flatts.

Justin Bieber headed for the Oscars?

When Justin Bieber recorded the song Never Say Never with Jaden Smith for the movie The Karate Kid, he probably had no idea his song might earn him an invitation to the 2011 Oscars.

Yet it could very well happen since this song – and 40 others – is on the nominations list for the original song category. From that list, Academy members will vote to whittle down the choices and determine the official Oscar nominees.

Among songs performed by well-known artists: Bound To You sung by Christina Aguilera in the film Burlesque, and two songs by Gwyneth Paltrow from the film Country Strong which will be released on January 7, 2011.

Also on the short list: Carrie Underwood sings There’s a Place for Us in the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and We Belong Together by Randy Newman in Toy Story 3.

The 2011 Oscars will take place Sunday February 27 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

Justin Bieber enlists help of Taio Cruz

Canadian teen singing sensation Justin Bieber may be looking at giving his fans a bit of a new sound for his next album since MTV News reports that Taio Cruz, the man responsible for getting the world dancing to his mega hit Dynamite this year, is one of the contributors on the pop star’s new album.

“Yes, I am [writing for Justin]," Cruz confirmed to MTV News at Z100’s Jingle Ball on Friday. "I was just recently asked to work for Justin Bieber, so that should be good.

"Yeah, he is a big deal," Cruz added. "I don’t want to disappoint his fans — they can be angry little 12-year-olds. He’s fun. He’s young, so we’ll keep it in the right arena; just fun, young pop music."

Cruz explained how the collaboration came about, "Sometimes the label or someone or management will ask me to write something specifically and they’ll give me a few topics, a few things to focus on, and then we come up with ideas."

Last September, Bieber told MTV News that his next album would "probably [come out] fourth quarter next year.”

“Drake is gonna be on that album; I’m not sure [who else]. I’m gonna ask him if he can get [Lil] Wayne on there," said Bieber.

Justin Bieber has most views on YouTube for 2010

Canadian-born singer Justin Bieber, 16, has dominated YouTube this year with his hit video for Baby. The lead single from Bieber’s album My World 2.0 was named most-watched music video in 2010 by YouTube. Hardly surprising considering that in July, Baby was tagged the most-watched music video of all time. The video, which features Ludacris, saw a staggering 406 million views in 2010.

Following Bieber in music video views, Shakira took second place with 254 million views for her video Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), Eminem held both third and fourth place with Love the Way You Lie (229 million views) and Not Afraid (164 million views). Rhianna, who was also featured on Eminem’s third place Love the Way You Lie, took fifth with her solo Rude Boy earning 118 million views.

The viral meme Bed Intruder Song by the Gregory Brothers, creators of Auto-Tune the News, earned the distinction of being the most watched original video in the US and around the world when it was viewed more than 60 million times. The meme was based on newsreel footage regarding an attempted rape in Alabama. The Gregory Brothers remixed and auto-tuned the news clip to create a catchy pop song which not only dominated YouTube but managed to climb onto the Billboard Top 100.

Second place for most-watched original video was awarded to the Ke$ha parody by Key of Awesome, which garnered more than 51 million views. In third with 34 million watchers was Greyson Chance performing Paparazzi, followed by Annoying Orange Wazzup in fourth, and the Old Spice ad, The Man Your Man Could Smell Like, rounding out the top five.

Justin Bieber releases Pray music video

Justin Bieber’s newest video is intended as an antithesis to his other videos. While Bieber is considered one of the newer players on the light pop scene, his latest video reveals a radically new facet.

Available yesterday (1 December) on YouTube, the video has already attracted nearly one million visitors. Most of the scenes revert back and forth between images of poverty and the singer’s visits to sick children.

Pray is the first video from his album My Acoustic Worlds, released just last week, and contains very few images of Bieber in concert.

You can watch the video of Pray here.
