Where to stream The Matrix trilogy in Canada before The Matrix Resurrections

Nearly 20 years after The Matrix Revolutions, Neo is back.

The Matrix Resurrections, once again starring Canada’s own Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, will open exclusively in theatres on December 22nd. The sci-fi action flick is being helmed by original The Matrix series co-director Lana Wachowski, who also co-wrote the script.

Given that it’s been so long since the last Matrix, you might want to revisit the trilogy, or even experience it for the first time. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up the ways in which you can stream the three original Matrix films.

The first film, simply titled The Matrix (1999), can be streamed on Crave. However, its two sequels, 2003’s The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, are both available on Netflix. If you only have one or the other of these services, it’s worth noting that each film is available to rent for $4.99 CAD on premium video on demand (PVOD) platforms like iTunes and Google Play.

The Matrix Resurrections follows Neo as he re-enters The Matrix with Trinity and joins a group of rebels to fight a new enemy. It’s worth noting that you can enter a special Warner Bros. QR code contest for a chance to win a trip to the December 16th Canadian premiere of The Matrix Resurrections with Reeves and Moss. Learn more here.

Another big December movie is Spider-Man: No Way Home — read more on where to stream the seven live-action Spidey flicks in Canada ahead of that multiverse adventure here.

This clip of Keanu Reeves’ Neo isn’t actually real — it’s from Epic’s Unreal Engine 5

As part of the lead-up to The Matrix Resurrections, Warner Bros. has teased a new The Matrix-themed experience for gaming consoles called The Matrix Awakens.

A full reveal of the experience will be shown at The Game Awards on December 9th, but WB says The Matrix Awakens is entirely made in Fortnite creator Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5. In other words, the brief glimpse we get of Keanu Reeves’ Neo asking “how do we know what is real?” is, in fact, not real — it’s entirely digital.

Reeves, as well as fellow Canadian and The Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity), will reprise their respective roles in The Matrix Awakens. The pair will appear at The Game Awards to formally unveil the title.

“Created by members of the original movie team including Lana Wachowski along with Epic Games and partners, ‘The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience’ is a wild ride into the reality-bending universe of ‘The Matrix’ that features performances by Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss,” reads Warner Bros.’ official description of the experience.

Given that this is an “experience,” you shouldn’t expect a full-sized, playable game; it’s definitely just going to be more of a tech demo. Still, it’s an impressive showcase for the ever-growing medium of gaming, in which technology is continuously being pushed to achieve photorealistic visuals.

The Matrix Awakens can be pre-loaded for free on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

In the meantime, Canadians can enter Warner Bros. Canada’s special QR-themed contest for a chance to win a trip to the Canadian premiere of The Matrix Resurrections, at which Reeves and Moss will appear.

Co-written and directed by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Resurrections opens exclusively in theatres on December 22nd.

Alex Winter feels like a survivor after overcoming sexual abuse

Alex Winter feels "like a survivor" after being sexually abused as a young boy.

The 52-year-old actor was molested as a child actor in the 1970s by a man who is now dead, and he readily admits he felt silenced by the Hollywood system.

But in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Alex says victims now have the courage to share their stories.

Speaking to Adrian Chiles on BBC Radio 5 on Friday (02.02.18), Alex said: "I absolutely feel like a survivor. It’s hellish, to be totally frank. You know, it’s hellish. I don’t think anybody felt like they were going to be heard if they said anything about this type of behavior, until very recently. I didn’t feel that I had any place of safety to unlock an extremely sensitive and potentially dangerous secret. The biggest light bulb I’ve ever had, since I was abused, was when this stuff started coming out, over the course of the last year. I never thought in my lifetime that I would ever be … sitting here talking to a BBC radio person about my childhood sexual abuse."

Alex was catapulted to global fame by the two ‘Bill & Ted’ movies – in which starred as titular character Bill alongside Keanu Reeves in the other headline role – and a third installment is being made with a script written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, who penned the previous two movies.

Alex accepts that those films are no more than fun cinematic experiences, but they played a huge part in his life in helping him move on from his abuse.

He said: "The movies are what they are, they’re silly and all that, I don’t hold them in overly high estimation as works of art or anything, but we had a lot of fun making them. But for me personally, in terms of the experience… it was really, really helpful for me mentally. And it was a great environment. The world of ‘Bill and Ted’ is a very sweet and fun place to run around in."

Suki Waterhouse ‘spotted kissing ex Miles Kane’

Suki Waterhouse and Miles Kane have sparked speculation they are back together.

The 25-year-old model and the Last Shadow Puppets frontman – who previously dated from 2011 to 2013 – were spotted "kissing and cuddling" at a Liam Gallagher concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday (14.11.17).

An eyewitness told The Sun newspaper: "They went to Liam’s concert at The Wiltern together and it was much more than just a friendly thing.

"Suki was being very affectionate with Miles. They were kissing and cuddling.

"They looked super-close. It definitely didn’t look like they had just bumped into each other there. It was clear they were an item and didn’t care who saw them."

Suki – who was last known to be dating ‘Star Wars’ actor Diego Luna – went on to hook up with Bradley Cooper after Miles, who romanced TV presenter Laura Whitmore, and then reality TV star Rosie Fortescue.

The ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ actress was last seen with Diego five weeks ago in New York, three months before they were last photographed together.

The pair met on the set of 2016 movie ‘Bad Batch’, which also starred Jason Momoa, Keanu Reeves and Jim Carrey.

Miles, 31, and Suki split in February 2013 and he later revealed he had predicted their break up in some of his song lyrics.

Speaking in June 2013, he said: "I fell in love for the first time making this album, but I fell out of love too.

"One of the angry songs, ‘Give Up’, I wrote when I was still in the relationship and it blows my head that it came true. It’s weird, writing stuff that pre-empts things that happen."

Debra Messing left with pepperoni cupping mark

Debra Messing was left with a pepperoni-shaped cupping mark after undergoing the ancient suction treatment.

The ‘Will and Grace’ star took to Instagram on Wednesday evening (04.05.17) to share a photo of the aftermath of the skin suction treatment which is supposed to improve blood flow and ease pain and inflammation.

Debra, 48, was freaked out by the "crazy" mark and was panicking as she had a day of interviews on Thursday (06.04.17).

Alongside the picture of the round-shaped red patch, she wrote: "How CRAZY is this cupping mark???? I have press tomorrow! Hope my dress covers all of it. (sic)"

Several celebrities are advocates of cupping including Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Richie and Jennifer Aniston.

Debra, like most women, is concerned with her appearance, and she recently shared that she was once told her nose was "ruining" a movie.

The flame-haired beauty was left devastated when filmmaker Alfonso Arau – who helmed her first film, 1995’s ‘A Walk in the Clouds’ – told her to visit a plastic surgeon because he didn’t like her hooter, and the incident left her confidence in tatters.

She recalled: "I’d never been on a film before. I was doing a love scene with Keanu Reeves. We started filming and the very famous director screamed ‘Cut’ and said, ‘How quickly can we get a plastic surgeon in here? Her nose is ruining my movie.’

"It was a shock. I was so confident coming out of graduate school with my Masters in acting. I’d studied in London and I was so well equipped with skill sets, and then to walk on set and have that happen – I was reduced to an un-Hollywood nose."

It has taken Debra "years and years and years" to embrace her unique look and feels frustrated that Hollywood has such a "very narrow" definition of what is beautiful.

She said: "It’s taken me years and years and years to finally own my differences and to love what’s different about me, and to come face to face with a truth within my industry, within our culture.

"There is a very narrow definition of what a beautiful, vital, vibrant, interesting woman looks like, and that’s the thing we’re constantly fighting against. My entire career I’ve been swimming in that pond, where it’s like, ‘Oh no, you don’t look right.’ "

Debra is to reunite with Eric McCormack for a new 10-episode series of ‘Will & Grace’ for NBC.

Charlize Theron trained with Keanu Reeves for Atomic Blonde

Charlize Theron had sparring sessions with Keanu Reeves to get fit for her new movie ‘Atomic Blonde’.

The 41-year-old beauty – who portrays female spy Lorraine Broughton in the forthcoming thriller – gets beat up by henchmen in the hotly-anticipated film and in preparation she has revealed she went to director David Leitch’s gym, where she bumped into the 52-year-old heartthrob, who was training for Leitch’s ‘John Wick: Chapter 2 2’.

Charlize said she felt "very macho" fighting against the hunk – who plays the titular lead part in ‘John Wick’ – and it they had so much fun.

During a Q&A for the premiere of ‘Atomic Blonde’ at SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas on Sunday (12.03.17), she said: "We would kind of spar with each other. I’d be like, ‘Come on, Keanu. Let’s take it down.’ S**t like that. It was very macho. It was great."

The ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ star – who has two adopted children, four-year-old son Jackson and daughter August, who was born in 2015 – has found the fitness levels "so hard" and quipped that she looked like Big Bird from children’s television show ‘Sesame Street’ in the gym.

Asked what it was like training for the movie, she said: "It was so hard, are you kidding me?

"When [training] first started I was like, ‘This is never going to work, I look like Big Bird.’"

‘Atomic Blonde’, an adaptation of Antony Johnston’s 2012 graphic novel, ‘The Coldest City’, also stars James McAvoy and is scheduled for release in July.

It is set in Berlin in 1989 and sees Charlize’s alter-ego try and track down an espionage ring who are trying to take down her fellow agents.

Debra Messing pressured to have nose job by director

Debra Messing was told her nose was "ruining" a movie.

The 48-year-old actress was left devastated when filmmaker Alfonso Arau – who helmed her first movie, 1995’s ‘A Walk in the Clouds’ – told her to visit a plastic surgeon because he didn’t like her hooter, and the incident left her confidence in tatters.

"I’d studied in London and I was so well equipped with skill sets, and then to walk on set and have that happen – I was reduced to an un-Hollywood nose."

It has taken Debra "years and years and years" to embrace her unique look and feels frustrated that Hollywood has such a "very narrow" definition of what is beautiful.

Speaking to ELLE.com at the MAKERS conference, she said: "It’s taken me years and years and years to finally own my differences and to love what’s different about me, and to come face to face with a truth within my industry, within our culture.

"There is a very narrow definition of what a beautiful, vital, vibrant, interesting woman looks like, and that’s the thing we’re constantly fighting against. My entire career I’ve been swimming in that pond, where it’s like, ‘Oh no, you don’t look right’."

The former ‘Will and Grace’ star also told the conference how the director had pushed her to do an unscripted nude scene and lifted the sheet covering her to look at her body.

She said: "He dropped the sheet on top of me like a used Kleenex, then walked away without a word."

But the nudity wasn’t even used in the final edit of the film, with Debra believing the "trauma" was a calculated "power play" to "demean" her and "strip" her of her "pride and power".

Nine years after shooting ‘A Walk in the Clouds’, Debra ran into Alfonso in the street.

She recalled: "He said, ‘Bella! It’s been so long, you were so funny in the movie, I’m so happy to see you again!’ I said, ‘Thank you,’ and I turned around and never looked back."

And the actress is thankful she never gave into the pressure to alter her appearance.

She said: "I have a strong nose, I have small breasts. I’m a f***ing original. My nose and I have come this far, and like Barbra Streisand I’m defiantly keeping it."

Keanu Reeves selling self for charity

Keanu Reeves fans can go on a motorbike ride with him – for $150,000.

The ‘Matrix’ actor is selling off a two-day trip through California and the ownership of a customized bike he co-designed as one of the fantasy gifts featured in this year’s Neiman Marcus Christmas Book.

For the huge price tag, three lucky buyers and their guests will enjoy a three-night stay in a suite at Santa Monica’s Shutters on the Beach, their residence during the trip.

The trip begins with breakfast with Keanu and his bike co-designer Gard Hollinger before going on a day’s ride through the Santa Monica mountains, ending at a beachside café in Malibu.

The following day, the group will enjoy a cruise around Angeles Crest National Forest, followed by lunch, and then a ‘final ride’.

The purchaser then gets to take home the 121 horsepower KRGT-1 which is based on a motorcycle Keanu and Gard – working as the Arch Motorcycle Company – created for the 51-year-old star and he described as ”the best bike on the planet”.

The listing for the gift states: ”’What happens when a movie star with a passion for motorcycles walks into the shop of an acclaimed custom bike builder? They create the bike of their dreams (and yours)”

Explaining how the vehicle has been adapted for the sale, Keanu said: ”For Neiman Marcus, we added performance enhancements, so it’s got a sportier frame, engine and suspension.”

Other fantasy gifts available include a trio of guitars belonging to Steve Miller, Lyle Lovett and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, which can be bought for $30,000 each and will be presented to the recipients backstage at the respective musician’s gigs.

Also up for grabs is a whiskey tasting tour at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, sampling long forgotten and recently rediscovered barrels, an experience which has a price tag of $125,000, while a dream trip to India is listed for $400,000 and a balloon trip to the edge of space can be bought for $90,000.

For each fantasy gift bought, Neiman Marcus will donate between $1,000 and $15,000 to charity.

Keanu Reeves’ midlife ‘meltdown’

Keanu Reeves suffered a meltdown when he turned 40.

The 47-year-old actor found it difficult to adjust when he reached the milestone age and admitted he is embarrassed by how he reacted at the time.

He said: "I had the classic 40 meltdown, I did. It’s embarrassing. It was pretty funny. But then I recovered. To me, it was like a second adolescence. Hormonally, my body was changing, my mind was changing, and so my relationship to myself and the world around me came to this assault of finiteness."

Keanu also found it difficult to come to terms with leaving his youth behind.

He explained: "It was also the end of the projection of my younger self. I came to the place where I thought, ‘I don’t know where I am anymore but where have I come from and what am I doing?’"

In addition to coming to terms with his age, the ‘Speed’ star has also realised he can no longer party like he used to.

When asked if he has a favourite niteclub, he told the Independent newspaper: "Clubbing? I’m too old for that."
