Lady Gaga confirmed for Coachella

Lady Gaga has been confirmed as replacing Beyonce at Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.

The ‘Formation’ singer pulled out of the famous music festival last week on doctor’s orders to take it easy now she is expecting twins and following speculation the ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker would step in, Gaga has taken to Twitter to share a poster of the amended line-up.

She captioned the image: "Let’s party in the desert!"

Gaga will take to the stage on Saturday April 15 and Saturday April 22 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California.

According to Billboard, organisers were keen to have a female headliner on board this year, and Gaga will be the first woman since Bjork in 2007 to top the bill at the annual music event.

Meanwhile, it was previously revealed Beyonce would be postponing her appearance at the festival until 2018 after doctors told her to "keep a less rigorous schedule".

Her management company Parkwood Entertainment and festival producer Goldenvoice released a joint statement last week to announce the news.

It read: "Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, Beyoncé has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. However, Goldenvoice and Parkwood are pleased to confirm that she will be a headliner at the 2018 festival. Thank you for your understanding."

It comes after Lady Gaga wowed the world with her electric performance during the Super Bowl half-time show.

Alongside the new headliner, Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar will also perform in the top spots at the festival.

Beyonce’s late night party

Beyonce celebrated her birthday until 5am.

The ‘Hold Up’ singer threw a Soul Train-themed party in New York City on Monday (05.09.16), a day after she turned 35, and guests including her sister Solange Knowles, former Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, June Ambrose, Carmelo Anthony, LaLa Anthony, Swizz Beatz, Cassie, Chance the Rapper, P Diddy, The-Dream, Jourdan Dunn, Chanel Iman, Alicia Keys, Kendrick Lamar, Joan Smalls and Usher kept the fun going for hours.

Beyonce’s four-year-old daughter Blue Ivy stole the show when she got on the mic and said, "Happy Birthday mommy", to which the entire crowd said "awwww", as depicted on Usher’s snapchat.

The birthday girl arrived in a daring tan wrap-around top with shorts and gold heels, but later changed into a shiny, colourful one-legged jumpsuit.

Beyonce later thanked her guests for coming, and singled out her husband, Jay Z, for a special thank you.

According to E! News, she said: "Thank you, everybody, for coming. You guys did such an incredible job committing, and I’m so happy to be here."

She then said to Jay: "Thank you, baby."

The ‘Crazy in Love’ singer has also thanked her fans for their birthday messages.

She wrote on Instagram: "I just want to say thank you to everyone for all the beautiful and thoughtful birthday wishes. I am so fortunate to have the love and support of my family, my friends, and my hive. We’ve grown up together and you guys continue to inspire and motivate me everyday.

"I’m so grateful for every challenge, every smile, every tear, every discovery, every sacrifice, every triumph, every stretch mark, every kiss, every scar. I strive to make you proud.

I love YOOOUUUU!!! "

Kelly previously revealed she’d splashed out on diamonds for her friend’s birthday gift.

She said: "Well, diamonds are a girl’s best friend. I got her diamonds!"

Beyonce had spent her actual birthday at the Made in America festival in Philadelphia, which was set up by her husband.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin – who worked with the pop beauty on ‘Hymn For The Weekend’ – said during his performance at the festival: "We want to say happy birthday to Mrs. Carter who is out here somewhere. Can you believe she is 107 years old? Happy birthday Bey."

And other stars including Kim Kardashian West, Mariah Carey, and Nicki Minaj took to social media to send birthday greetings to the ‘Formation’ hitmaker.

Laverne Cox declared the day "Bey Day" when she tweeted: "#HappyBeyDay Happy Birthday @Beyonce I have been singing #Freedom all week. It just feels like we need this song right now. (sic)"

The ‘Run The World’ musician marked the special day by sharing the music video for her song ‘Hold Up’ with her fans.

Beyonce wins big at BET Awards

Beyonce was the big winner at the BET Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (06.26.16).

The 34-year-old singer – who released her latest album ‘Lemonade’ earlier this year – picked up gongs for Video of the Year for ‘Formation’, Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice and the Centric Award for ‘Formation’ at the ceremony at the Microsoft Theater.

And not only did Beyonce emerge as a winner in four categories but she also opened the show with Kendrick Lamar, as the pair gave a powerful performance of her song ‘Freedom’.

They kicked off proceedings with Beyonce’s dancers strutting down the aisles of the auditorium while Martin Luther King’s ‘I Have A Dream’ speech played.

Meanwhile, Drake was also a big winner on the night, picking up three gongs, Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Group with Future and Best Collaboration for Rihanna’s ‘Work’.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor Jesse Williams won the Humanitarian Award and received a standing ovation for his powerful speech.

He said: "This award is not for me. This is for the real organizers all over the country, the activist, the civil rights attorneys, the struggling parents, the families, the teachers, the students that are realizing that a system built to divide and impoverish and destroy us cannot stand if we do. It’s kinda basic mathematics: the more we learn about who we are and how we got here the more we will mobilize.

"This award is also for the black women in particular who have spent their lives nurturing everyone before themselves — we can and will do better for you.

"Now, what we’ve been doing is looking at the data and we know that police somehow manage to de-escalate, disarm and not kill white people every day. So what’s going to happen is we’re going to have equal rights and justice in our own country or we will restructure their function and ours.

"We’ve been floating this country on credit for centuries, and we’re done watching and waiting while this invention called whiteness uses and abuses us, burying black people out of sight and out of mind while extracting our culture, our dollars, our entertainment like oil – black gold! – ghettoizing and demeaning our creations and stealing them, gentrifying our genius and then trying us on like costumes before discarding our bodies like rinds of strange fruit.

"Just because we’re magic doesn’t mean we’re not real. Thank you."

And Prince was honored with musical medleys from Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, Janelle Monáe, the Roots, and Sheila E.

Speaking about her performance, Halsey said: "This will be the first time I perform ‘Castle’. This song is so important to me as a woman; it’s about not letting anything get in your way.
"I’m so happy MTV & the Huntsman are giving me the opportunity to present that message on television. Plus it’ll look sick."
It has also been confirmed that Grammy Award winner Kendrick Lamar will be making an appearance to present the True Story award at the ceremony, which will air on MTV on Monday April 11 at 8pm.
It was previously revealed that Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart will take on hosting duties for the award show.
Speaking about his appointment, Dwayne said: "It’s an honour to be hosting the ‘MTV Movie Awards’ with a guy who’s not only one of the funniest guys on the planet, but who’s often mistaken as my twin, Kevin Hart. We live for our fans and promise to make this an epic, historic unforgettable night for them."
