KISS sells its catalog for $300M!

Rock icons Kiss have signed a landmark deal with Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment Group to ensure the preservation and adaptation of their legacy for the digital age. The deal is rumored to be worth in excess of $300 million.

In a landmark deal, Pophouse Entertainment Group has acquired the KISS catalog, brand and intellectual property.

By combining the musical heritage of KISS with the latest technological advances, the company aims to create an unforgettable experience for fans of all ages. Pophouse Entertainment is already renowned for its ABBA Voyage project, a holographic experience featuring Swedish band ABBA. This experience offers a virtual concert in which the band members are represented as holograms, performing their greatest hits. This allows fans to rediscover the essence of ABBA and enjoy their musical performances in an innovative and immersive way.

According to Per Sundin, CEO of Pophouse Entertainment Group, several projects are in the pipeline for the band, including a biopic, a documentary and a unique avatar show experience.

The latter, planned for the first time in North America, has been announced for 2027, although details remain confidential for the time being.

The partnership kicked off at KISS’s final farewell concert in New York, at Madison Square Garden, on December 30.

George Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic, in collaboration with Pophouse, unveiled digitized avatars created by the band. The high-fidelity images hint at future digital performances, building on the success of Pophouse’s holographic events.

Gene Simmons no longer has the strength to continue with KISS

Gene Simmons, who has repeatedly claimed to have slept with more than 5,000 women during his career with KISS, says he no longer has the strength to continue his reign with one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most successful bands.

At 73, it’s getting very hard to carry around 40 pounds of armor and seven-inch heels. The physicality doesn’t hold up for long shows of the band. And playing sitting in a chair like the guys who play the blues isn’t for Gene Simmons.

“I’m 73 years old soon. I’m wearing 40 pounds of armor and 7-inch heels. I can’t sit in a chair like blues musicians. I know you can’t stay on stage too long. It’s better to get out while the going’s good,” Simmons told the NY Post.

Of course, today’s increasingly robotic life tickles Simmons, who has to deal with Spotify and all those platforms. The money isn’t coming in as much as it was in the ’70s in this business, he says…

It looks like this will be the end of KISS, a band that has survived all these years, following the tour scheduled for the end of August.
