American Idol winner jailed

Laine Hardy, the winner of the show’s 17th season American Idol in 2019, has just been put in jail, accused of placing a listening device in the residence of a Louisiana State University student.

The 21-year-old country singer is under criminal investigation by the LSU Police Department.

“Lane Reed Hardy was arrested by LSU Police today and placed in the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail for violation of Section 15:1303 – Interception and Disclosure of Telephone, Electronic or Oral Communications. His arrest warrant has been filed with the clerk of the court,”an LSU spokesperson confirmed to the New YorkPost in the last few hours.

The singer is accused of having left a listening device in the home of the unidentified student on campus in order to “monitor her conversations”.

Laine Hardy himself confirmed the information on his Facebook page.

The country crooner did not elaborate on what he was accused of, but noted that he was “totally cooperative” with police.

“I understand that my career has thrust me into the public spotlight, and I embrace that wholeheartedly, as my entire world belongs to my music and my fans.”

“However, due to the sensitive nature of this allegation, I humbly request confidentiality at this time. I have the utmost respect for the law and will assist in their investigation if necessary to move forward.

Laine Hardy is a native of Livingston, Louisiana. After her victory at American Idol, her crowning song i was released in May 2019. Her debut album Here’s To Anyone was released on September 17.
