LeBron James’ son suffers heart attack

LeBron James is undoubtedly one of the greatest soccer players of all time, and his son Bronny James, who follows in his footsteps, notably by playing for USC, was the victim of a significant collapse.

The 18-year-old suffered cardiac arrest during practice with his college basketball team, the Trojans.

Sad news, as reported by the New York Post.

However, he was quickly attended to by the medical team and subsequently transported to the hospital.

Bronny is currently said to be in stable condition after visiting intensive care.

“We ask that the James family’s privacy be respected,” says the family spokesperson.

In particular, an update on his condition will be provided as soon as possible.

LeBron James’ ugly limited-edition PS5 accessories aren’t coming to Canada

PlayStation has teamed up with NBA star LeBron James on a limited-edition PS5 cover and DualSense controller.

The Black PS5 accessories were co-designed by James and feature quotes and imagery from his journey, including “nothing is given, everything is earned” and “build, uplift, empower.

However, PlayStation has confirmed to MobileSyrup that the accessories aren’t coming to Canada. Instead, the company has teased a separate Canada-focused collaboration with Toronto-born actor-comedian, King Bach. While it says more will be shared on that later this year, it did point to a PS5 ad with Bach that ran during the Super Bowl last month:

The partnerships with James and Bach come as part of PlayStation’s new “Playmakers” program, a promotional campaign that sees the gaming giant partner with prominent athletes, actors, artists, gamers and other figures.

That said, PlayStation previously worked with James on a decidedly strange God of War Ragnarök ad in which he, Ben Stiller and John Travolta all appeared with their respective sons.

Ben Stiller plays Kratos in weird God of War Ragnarök ad with John Travolta, LeBron James

Have you ever imagined what Ben Stiller would look like dressed as gaming icon Kratos?

Probably not, but someone at PlayStation clearly did. In a new ad for God of War Ragnarök titled “All Parents Can Relate,” Stiller is fully suited as Kratos, beard, Leviathan Axe and all, and even wants to be referred to as the God of War.

The premise of the ad is Stiller, fellow actor John Travolta and NBA star LeBron James getting together for a support group with their real-life children. It’s… as bizarre as you’d expect.

“The God of War dynamic plays out in every parent-child relationship. When that clicked for me, I picked up my Leviathan Axe and felt truly close to my son for the first time,” says Stiller at one point. When his son responds “I’m 17!” Stiller simply says, “Exactly.” Elsewhere in the bit, Travolta asks his daughter to hurt his feelings, to which she says “you’re old and you’re bald,” and he satisfyingly says “just like Kratos.”

Funny enough, less than 10 seconds of footage from the actual game are shown at the very end of the commercial. All in all, it’s quite strange, especially given the unique pairing of Stiller, Travolta and James.

In any case, God of War Ragnarök will release on PlayStation 4 and 5 on November 9th. Stay tuned for our review on November 3rd.

Fergie’s anthem slammed by stars

Fergie’s rendition of the US national anthem at the NBA All-Star game was by slammed celebrities and viewers.

The 42-year-old singer performed the ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday (02.18.18) ahead of the annual exhibition basketball match, but several stars were not impressed and some fans branded it the "worst ever".

Roseanne Barr – who performed a crotch-grabbing rendition of the tune in 1990 – wrote on Twitter: "Who saw Fergie’s national anthem performance at the NBA All Star Game? I think mine was better lowkey (sic)"

Fergie’s rendition even prompted some calls for the anthem to be axed.

Singer k.d. lang tweeted: "Would it be so bad if we just dropped the national anthem altogether from sports events.(sic)"

As well as the national anthem, the pre-match entertainment at the All-Star game featured a 15-minute opener from Kevin Hart, and the whole thing left Khloe Kardashian "confused".

She tweeted: "This All Star opening is confusing me. WTF is going on? Anyone? (sic)"

But not everyone slated Fergie’s rendition, with legendary basketball player Shaquille O’Neal praising her for a "different" and "sexy" version of the song.

He tweeted: "Fergie, I love you. It was different, it was sexy. (sic)"

One Twitter user shared: "FERGIE DID AN AMAZING JOB ON THE NATIONAL ANTHEM! (sic)"

But several people took to Twitter to poke fun at the Black Eyed Peas frontwoman.

One wrote: "Fergie with the absolute worst rendition of the national anthem that I have ever heard in my entire life. No exaggeration. That was awful. (sic)"

Another posted: "The WORST National Anthem EVER! (sic)"

One shared: "That wasn’t fergie that was a clone … hahahaha (sic)"

While Fergie’s performance wasn’t to everyone’s tastes, the match was an exciting one with Lebron James’ team beating Stephen Curry’s side 148-145.

Angelina Jolie set for Mayweather v McGregor fight

Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron are among the stars expected to attend Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor’s epic boxing bout.

The ‘Tomb Raider’ actor and the ‘Mad Max’ star are planning to descend on Las Vegas on August 26 for what has been billed as the fight of the century, as are the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Drake, Denzel Washington and L.L. Cool J.

According to TMZ Sports, several stars will have front row and centre seats at the T-Mobile Arena in Sin City, with actor Jamie Foxx, basketball sensation LeBron James and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine expected to be among them.

Some stars will no doubt head to Vegas earlier in the week before the fight, and others may not even have tickets but plan to watch the action at parties at nearby venues.

One singer who may be in attendance is Justin Bieber, who is known to be good friends with Mayweather.

However, the ‘Never Say Never’ hitmaker recently insisted he doesn’t think is pal will knock out UFC fighter McGregor.

Quizzed on whether he thinks Mayweather will deliver an ultimate blow to McGregor, he said: "I don’t think so. I think it’ll be a good fight."

Justin praised Mayweather – who is thought to be dating British reality TV star Abi Clarke – for being an inspiration earlier this year when he attended the professional boxer’s 40th birthday party in Los Angeles.

He said: "I love this guy. I look up to him. Give it up for the champ."

Khloe Kardashian’s boyfriend wants tighter security

Khloe Kardashian’s boyfriend Tristan Thompson wants her to have tighter security.

The 25-year-old basketball player is so worried about his beau following the attack on her sister Kim Kardashian West in Paris earlier this week, that he’s called for extra protection when she comes to see his Cleveland Cavaliers games.

A source told HollywoodLife.com: "He wants her to be at every home game that she can possibly attend and has asked Cavs executives for extra security when she’s in the building.

"No disrespect to LeBron [James], but Tristan wants Khloé to be more protected at the arena than Savannah [James]!"

Tristan’s worries come after Khloé’s 35-year-old sister went through a horrific ordeal on Monday (03.10.16) when five thieves dressed as policemen robbed her at gunpoint in her apartment in Paris, during which they tied her hands with plastic handcuffs, duct taped her, and stole more than $10 million worth of jewels.

Now, the Cleveland Cavaliers forward wants to make sure that never happens to Khloe, 32, by ensuring she is "protected to the hilt".

The source added: "Khloe’s an international phenomenon, a celebrity with a face that’s as recognised around the globe like First Lady Michelle Obama.

"Tristan has only just realised the magnitude of who Khloe is and wants her protected to the hilt when she takes time out of her busy schedule to watch him play."

Speculation about the new couple started circulating last month, with sources saying they were taking it "day by day", but with Tristan’s dedication to keeping Khloe safe, they might be more serious than they’re letting on.

A source said previously: "They’re taking it slow, day by day, but are having so much fun together. He’s the nicest, sweetest guy. He comes from a very strong family and has a tight circle of close friends. He really isn’t into the ‘celeb scene’ and does his own thing."

Justin Bieber turns down 5m to perform at RNC event

Justin Bieber reportedly turned down $5 million to perform at a Republican National Convention event.

The 22-year-old singer was offered the huge amount for a 45-minute performance last week at a venue near Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland where the RNC was held and although he was told that his performance would not be seen as an endorsement, Justin refused the offer, TMZ reports.

Canadian singer Justin and his team were reportedly told by the promoter that LeBron James was planning to take part in another event for the party, also without endorsing them, but LeBron denied having anything to do with them when contacted by Justin’s representatives.

And the basketball star encouraged Justin to turn down the offer.

Justin’s manager Scooter Braun, a staunch Democrat and supporter of Hillary Clinton, reportedly "told Justin it was up to him if he wanted to do the show, but he said he couldn’t continue to represent the singer if he did, out of principle".

Meanwhile, Justin will be soaked with 800 gallons of perfectly purified water when he headlines V Festival 2016.

The ‘Never Say Never’ hitmaker will take to the stage on Saturday August 20 at the music extravaganza’s Chelmsford venue, Hylands Park, in south east England and then travel to Weston Park, Staffordshire, West Midlands, for his headline set on Sunday August 21.

Justin’s set is said to be the most challenging production the festival has ever seen in its 21-year history.

He has requested the water to be 40 degrees when it is fired at him on stage.

LeBron James on Swiss watches and charity

NBA basketball player LeBron James is the new global brand ambassador for Swiss watch company, Audemars Piguet.

In addition to representing the brand, James will also collaborate with Audemars Piguet to create a special limited-edition watch, with the proceeds going to the LeBron James Family Foundation.

“Audemars Piguet and I strive for excellence in all our endeavors,” said James. “I am honored to be the next global brand ambassador and join the ranks of industry greats who have previously represented the brand.

“I am also excited to collaborate with AP on an exclusive timepiece that will be the ultimate symbol of our partnership,” adds LeBron.

James joins a roster of elite brand ambassadors that include race car icon Michael Schumacher, Argentinian soccer star Leo Messi, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, and top professional golfers such as Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy and Vijay Singh.

“LeBron James is a gifted athlete and an exceptional humanitarian. His mission truly mirrors ours and we are delighted to welcome him to the Audemars Piguet family,” said Philippe Merk, CEO of Audemars Piguet.

James is widely considered one of the greatest athletes of his generation. He took the basketball world by storm when, at just 18, he was selected as the number one pick in the 2003 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers and named the youngest ever NBA Rookie of the Year during his first year.

The LeBron James Family Foundation was founded in 2004 to empower children and single-parent households through innovative programming and initiatives such as education, physical fitness and better health for those who are dealing with adversity.

An All-Star Hip-Hop Collaboration

Forever, a new song born from a collaboration between four big names in hip-hop, has been released, reports Rolling Stone.

The song, lasting over 6 minutes, will feature in a documentary titled More Than a Game, starring basketball player LeBron James.

Forever was produced by Boi-1da, who also produced the Drake tune, Best I Ever Had.

Word has it that the four rappers plan to head to New York next month to film the video for their song, which will be directed by Hype Williams.

The soundtrack for More Than a Game will be released on September 29.
