Lindsay Lohan sues Grand Theft Auto creators

Lindsay Lohan is suing the creators of ‘Grand Theft Auto’.

The ‘Mean Girls’ actress – who turned 28 today (07.02.14) – has finally hit the video game makers with a civil lawsuit after they allegedly used her image for a character named Lacey Jonas without her permission.

The star’s lookalike alter-ego parties at infamous celebrity haunt, the Hotel Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, ”a place where the plaintiff once lived and often frequents”, according to the case documents.

According to the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column, the troubled actress is coming after game creators Take-Two Interactive for an unspecified sum of money.

Lindsay has been threatening legal action since December, shortly after the fifth installment of the video game was released, and is annoyed because companies usually pay to copy her likeness.

The legal papers claim the ”game features a mission where the plaintiff’s look-alike asks another character to take her home and escape the paparazzi” and features a character sporting the same ” likeness, clothing, outfits, clothing line products, ensemble in the form of hats, hair style, sunglasses, jean shorts worn by [Lohan]…before the release of the GTA V video game.”

The video game cover also strikingly resembles a famous picture of Lindsay in a swimsuit taking a selfie and making a peace sign.

The gaming company has declined to comment.

Lindsay Lohan thanks fans for support

Lindsay Lohan has thanked fans for their support while she was in rehab. ‘The Canyons’ star has launched a new website since completing 90-days of court-ordered treatment at the Cliffside Malibu centre in California on July 31, and is eager to get her life back on track.

She wrote: "To my fans, Welcome to my new site… Your support has been everything. I’m so excited for what’s next. xo All my love, Lindsay."

The 27-year-old actress went to rehab as part of a plea deal to avoid jail after violating her probation by lying to police about driving after a car accident last year, and she has since appeared eager to take responsibility for her problems and legal troubles.

In a sneak peak teaser of an interview with Oprah Winfrey she is asked by the talk show legend: "Do you think you can turn things around?" and "What is it that you’re addicted to?"

The actress emotionally replies: "I’m my own worst enemy. I know that."

Oprah, 59, has taken a vested interest in Lindsay’s well being following her well-documented troubles, as the actress is now filming a documentary series about her road to recovery for Oprah’s TV channel, OWN.

Shortly after their recent interview, Oprah insisted that she believes Lindsay is ready to move on with her life.

She previously said: "I just interviewed her, and I was deeply moved by her desire to move forward in her life at this time … I really do believe that she’s ready."

She also said she felt the ‘Mean Girls’ star was "honest" and "authentic" during their chat, adding: "She looked good. She looked strong. She looked healthy."

Justin Bieber apologizes to Lindsay Lohan

Justin Bieber has apologized for mocking Lindsay Lohan’s financial problems.

The ‘Beauty And A Beat’ singer insisted he didn’t mean to bash the 26-year-old troubled starlet – who is set to go on trial next week after being charged with lying to police about a car accident and is also battling to pay her huge tax bills – in a lengthy rant on Instagram as he attempted to defend his recent bad behavior, during which he said: "And to those comparing me to Lindsey (sic) Lohan look at her 2012 tax statements."

The 19-year-old star, who deleted the comment about the ‘Liz & Dick’ star within 10 minutes of posting it, told gossip website TMZ.com: "My post was only up for a few minutes but I realized right away that what I said at the end was wrong and distracted from what I was trying to say.

"I immediately deleted it and rewrote it so it would show what I was really feeling and those words are up now."

The Canadian singer immediately reposted his original comments, bragging about his success, without the reference to Lindsay.

Justin admitted he would make probably more mistakes in the future despite his desire to be a "good person".

He also wrote: "All this isn’t easy. I get angry sometimes. I’m human. I’m gonna make mistakes. In gonna grow and get better from them. But all the love from you guys overcomes the negativity. I love u. Thanks (sic)"

Lindsay Lohan loses court case against Pitbull

Lindsay Lohan has lost her legal battle against Pitbull.

The actress sued the Cuban/American hitmaker in 2011 for a line in his song ‘Give Me Everything’ – in which he joked he was "locked up like Lindsay Lohan" – claiming he had no right to use her name and seeking financial compensation, but a court has now ruled in his favor.

A New York federal judge ruled on Thursday (21.02.13) that Pitbull’s song, also featuring Ne-Yo and Afrojack, was protected by the US First Amendment, which covers freedom of speech and creative expression.

Pitbull’s lawyer, Marcos Jimenez, told E! News: "This will further solidify the rights of artists to express themselves in song. He felt it was very important to address this head on to protect his right and the rights of other artist. He decided to fight this."

Senior District Judge Denis R. Hurley also fined Lindsay’s attorney, Stephanie Ovadia, $1,500 for sanctionable plagiarism and false representation after Marcos claimed last March she had lifted her arguments from online sources.

‘Liz & Dick’ star Lindsay has a long history of run-ins with the law and has been jailed several times for charges including driving under the influence (DUI) and cocaine possession.

Losing the case will be a financial blow to the flame-haired star, who is currently crippled with tax debt and has most recently being accused of destroying a $1,750 designer dress she borrowed.
