James McAvoy Denies Rumours

According to FemaleFirst, Scottish actor James McAvoy denies that he has been asked to play the main character, Bilbo Baggins, in The Hobbit.

Recently, a rumour got out that he was the chosen favourite to star as the famous Hobbit in director Guillermo del Toro’s next two films.

McAvoy, who is currently filming The Last Station, said, "I’m a huge fan of the Tolkien saga, everything to do with Middle Earth. But no, there’s no truth in the fact that they’ve approached me yet."

After the riveting success of the trilogy, The Lord Of The Rings, The Hobbit is predestined to triumph as well. Pre-production is set to begin at the end of the year in New Zealand.

James McAvoy can next be seen in the film Wanted on June 27, opposite Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman.

Lord of the Rings To End Early in Toronto

The $30 million Canadian show, which was inspired by the JRR Tolkien trilogy of the same name, will be closing its doors on September 3.  The live show opened last March, and features 65 actors during a three-hour performance.

According to promoters, poor reviews are behind the decision to stop the show.  However, a revamped version will open at London’s Royal Drury Lane Theatre in May, 2007.

Lord of the Rings Opens on Live Stage

The 30 million Canadian dollar production has taken four years to put together, and the performance lasts three and a half hours.  Directed by Matthew Warchus, critics are saying the adaptation of the JRR Tolkien book was "largely incomprehensible."

Lord of the Rings is being presented at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, and includes 55 artists, 17 elevators and 500 costumes.
