Jeannot and Schenn throw down, then a fan tries to get at Jeannot in the box!

UPDATE: Corey Perry has been tossed from the game after what appeared to be an exchange with a fan just outside the penalty box. Patrick Maroon is now giving it to fans, as well. Police are now attempting to calm the situation.

It’s all happening!

It looks like the Toronto Maple Leafs are about to make up for a poor showing in Game 1 of their opening round playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Leafs laid a metaphorical beatdown on the Lightning this evening on the scoreboard and now Leafs defenseman Luke Schenn is laying a physical beatdown on his opponents. The Leafs were up 6-1 on the Lightning in the 3rd period when Schenn and fellow Saskatchewanian Tanner Jeannot dropped the gloves for a spirited bout.

Check it out:

What a tilt, indeed!

And if that weren’t enough action for you, a fan in the building actually tried to climb the glass to get at Jeannot in the penalty box.

As David Pagnotta reports, the fan was escorted out of the building by security.

Luke Schenn drops Pat Maroon in a true heavyweight tilt!

Luke Schenn is having one Hell of a game tonight in his return to Tampa Bay.

The Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman who was recently re-acquired by the Leafs in a deadline trade with the Vancouver Canucks not only has a goal this evening, but he also had a fighting major to go with it. He’s just one assist away from registering the always popular Gordie Howe Hat-Trick.

First up, Schenn scored a beauty of a goal, his first for the Leafs since 2012!

Not bad for a 7th D man!

And if that weren’t enough he ended up going toe to toe with Pat Maroon and dropping his former teammate in the corner!

Great goal! Great fight! Great showing from #2 in white!

Luke Schenn is now neighbors with Tomas Kaberle

The Toronto Maple Leafs welcomed back an old friend into the fold earlier this month with the acquisition of defenseman Luke Schenn from the Vancouver Canucks. As you may remember, Schenn was Toronto’s 1st round selection (6th overall) in the 2008 NHL Draft, and he played the first several years of his career wearing the Maple Leaf crest before being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 2012 that sent forward James van Riemsdyk the other way.

And as fate would have it, he moved in directly across the street from a former teammate of his during his first go-around with the Leafs in defenseman Tomas Kaberle.

“It’s a small world. You don’t anticipate that,” Schenn explained of his new living arrangements and new neighbor. “Different paths in life, but here we are.”

Kaberle was dealt from the Leafs to the Original 6 rival Boston Bruins in 2011, and would go on to win the Stanley Cup that year. He would later sign with the Carolina Hurricanes. However, he’s still held in high regard by Leafs fans for his time with Toronto.

“It’s pretty cool. We were together when I first started, and he was a great mentor for me,” Schenn said. “Taught me a lot. He was a true pro.”

“He’s taking care of me, too,” Schenn said. “Showing me the lay of the land.”
