Arcade Fire wins 2010 album of year

Clash magazine announced that Montreal-based indie rock band Arcade Fire has won their 2010 album of the year award for The Suburbs.

The band’s third album, launched in early August this year, beat out a number of contenders in what the magazine called a bumper crop of great music this year.

For his debut effort, American artist Gonjasufi and his album A Sufi And A Killer placed second. Third place went to Swim by Caribou, also known as Canadian Daniel V. Snaith from London, Ontario.

As various lists for best albums of the year start to emerge, Arcade Fire’s Grammy-nominated The Suburbs is expected to appear on most of them.
