Alleged watchOS 10 home screen leak partially debunked

Rumours have surfaced that Apple’s upcoming watchOS 10 update could feature several major changes, but some reputable sources aren’t jumping the gun ahead of the official reveal.

Twitter user and leaker @analyst941 claims that watchOS 10 will feature an updated interface and other significant enhancements. The change in the home screen is rumoured to make it easier for users to navigate and will more closely resemble iOS. The anonymous user also states that the new home screen could feature folders and might be either a third option or a replacement to the current ‘honeycomb’ grid launched in 2015.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, one of the most reliable sources for Apple leaks and information, recently reported that watchOS is due for “a fairly extensive upgrade with notable changes to the user interface.” However, Gurman didn’t detail what the updated interface will look like or how it will operate, leaving some doubt surrounding @analyst941’s report.

While Gurman clearly thinks some form of change is coming to watchOS in the future, it’s possible the renders provided by @analyst941 are nothing more than creative thinking.

Apple’s watchOS 10 update is expected to be officially revealed at Apple’s WWDC on June 5th, 2023.

New iPad Pro with wireless charging will reportedly release in 2022

Apple reportedly has plans to release three iPad models in 2022, including a new iPad Pro, entry-level iPad and iPad Air, according to Bloomberg’s often-reliable Mark Gurman and his Power On newsletter.

On the iPad Pro side, Gurman says that he expects the new version of Apple’s high-end iPad to feature wireless charging and reverse-wireless charging, allowing the tablet to charge iPhones, AirPods and more. On the other hand, the entry-level iPad will likely feature a new processor, but beyond this, the report doesn’t delve into any details. There’s a possibility it could feature a thinner, more squared-off design in-line with the new iPad mini.

Regarding the iPad Air, Bloomberg’s report indicates the tablet will offer features more in-line with the new iPad mini, including an A15 Bionic chip, Center Stage and 5G connectivity. Given that the Air hasn’t been updated in over a year, it makes sense for Apple to release a new tablet version in 2022.

Beyond iPads, Gurman’s report also says that Apple has several new Apple Watch models in the works — including a rugged model — and roughly five new Macs on the way. All of these devices are rumoured to launch at some point in 2022.

With Apple also reportedly working on an AR headset of some sort that’s tipped to release in the new year, 2022 is shaping up to be significant year of releases for the company.

Apple’s refreshed MacBook Pro reportedly on track to release later this month

Apple’s September event was jampacked with new products, however, the MacBook Pro, which has long been rumoured to get a refresh, didn’t get its time to shine.

Now, in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter (paywall), Mark Gruman reiterates that the new M1X chip MacBook Pro is expected to release within the next month during a Mac-centric Apple event, and considering that historically Apple has held its Mac-focused events around October or early November, the timeframe makes sense.

“We’ll likely see it show up first in a new range of MacBook Pros in the next month and a higher-end Mac mini at some point,” reads the newsletter. “The M1X has been developed in two variations: both with 10 CPU cores (eight high-performance and two high-efficiency) and either 16 or 32 graphics cores.”

Regarding Apple’s other Macs, Gurman claims that the company is working on a high-performance processor for a future Mac Pro, as well as an M2 for the MacBook Air, iMac, and lower-end MacBook Pro models.

The updated M1X MacBook Pro is rumoured to have an SD card slot, an HDMI port and MagSafe compatibility with an entirely new design with minimal bezels.
