Celebrity sightings in Muskoka

Move over Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel. A new Hollywood elite has entered Ontario’s cottage country.

This past weekend actor Mark Wahlberg, soccer star David Beckham, and former Toronto Maple Leaf Tie Domi were lounging lakeside in Muskoka—or MUSKOKAAA as Wahlberg pronounces it, singing the region’s name in a video posted to Domi’s Instagram as the group sped along in a speedboat at night.

What the group was doing there, or, better yet, how this motley crew became acquainted, is up for debate. Domi lives in Toronto. It’s possible the former Leaf was introducing his L.A.-based pals to the wonders of Canadian wilderness.

What we can tell you is that the group enjoyed themselves. Beckham summed the trip up in an Instagram post: “Great few days in Muskoka with family and friends. Wow what a place and yes we laughed a lot and drank a little,” he wrote.

The three celebs were joined by Canadian billionaire Jamie Salter, who owns Authentic Brands Group, and Rande Gerber, an American businessman married to model Cindy Crawford.

But the weekend wasn’t all “boys time”. It appears that Beckham’s trip was a family vacation. His wife, Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, and their kids tagged along. Beckham posted a photo of his son Cruz riding a wake surf like a natural.

Marky Mark, on the other hand, seems to have tied some brand development into his northern foray. He posted a video of himself heading to an F45 studio in Collingwood. Wahlberg owns a major stake in the fitness company and has been travelling to different studios across the U.S. and Canada to promote it.

“We found F45 in Muskoka,” he says in the video. We’re a fan of Wahlberg’s, so we’ll let it slide that Collingwood isn’t actually in Muskoka.

While there’s no word on any members of the celeb group placing Muskoka real estate offers, considering the smiles on their faces, we wouldn’t be surprised if Ontario’s cottage country plays host to Wahlberg, Beckham, and Domi again soon.

Mark Wahlberg donates $1.5m fee to Time’s Up

Mark Wahlberg has donated his $1.5 million fee for ‘All The Money In The World’ reshoots to the Time’s Up movement.

The 46-year-old actor was paid the hefty amount to re-film scenes for the Steven Spielberg-directed movie – compared to the $1000 Michelle Williams was paid to reshoot – after its leading actor Kevin Spacey was accused of making sexual advances towards actor Anthony Rapp.

Spacey was booted from the movie and replaced by Christopher Plummer, causing a number of reshoots to take place over the Thanksgiving week last year.

And now it has been confirmed that Mark has handed over his entire fee to support the cause.

Lawyer Nina Shaw, who is heavily involved in Time’s Up, told a panel at SWSX: "Yes, Mark has written that cheque. Men often get paid more, not because they’re better actors, but they’re in stories where they drive the narrative. The reason they drive the narrative is they’re in stories that are picked by men."

Mark had previously vowed to donate his fee to the Time’s Up movement in Michelle’s name.

He had said at the time: "Over the last few days my reshoot fee for All The Money in the World has become an important topic of conversation. I 100 per cent support the fight for fair pay and I’m donating the $1.5 million to the Time’s Up Legal Fund in Michelle Williams’ name."

Mark admitted the pay gap on ‘All the Money in the World’ was "very awkward".

He said: "It didn’t take much to make the decision [to donate the money]. It was just the right thing to do, you know? And Michelle is a fantastic actress. It’s not me who decides who gets paid what. Your value’s based on what the marketplace dictates, and with that particular situation, it was very awkward.

"It was like, you know what, we’ll donate that and they need the rest of the money that I got paid to do it too, because I, like everybody else, did the movie to make the movie with Ridley Scott. I took a substantial pay cut."

Olivia Munn mocks Mark Wahlberg

Olivia Munn mocked Mark Wahlberg at the Critics’ Choice Awards on Thursday (01.11.18).

The 37-year-old actress presented the ceremony from Santa Monica’s Barker Hanger and in a funny skit with Niecy Nash titled ‘Toast to the Good Guys’, they praised men working in Hollywood for being "regular human beings".

To kick off the sketch, Olivia said: "At this time, my friend Niecy Nash and I would like to make a toast to all the good guys in Hollywood.

"I’d like to raise a glass to that studio executive who had me meet him in the studio conference room, instead of his actual hotel room."

Niecy replied: "Yes, yes! Congratulations for doing what you’re supposed to do!

"And here’s to the male casting directors who didn’t ever say anything derogatory to me in an audition."

Olivia quipped: "Hey, way to be regular human beings, guys! Good job!

"Oh, and I’d also like to thank that famous actor who didn’t treat me with c**p after I said I didn’t want to drinks with him after the show. What a guy, huh?"

Her pal replied: "Wow! See, that’s what I’m talkin’ about."

The duo then turned their attention to last weekend’s Golden Globes, which saw the male winners criticized for not speaking out about the Time’s Up anti-harassment campaign, unlike many of the females on the podium.

Niecy said: "I want to say this quickly. Thank you to all of the men for speaking up at the Golden Globes and joining our sisters…"

But Olivia interrupted and said: "Actually, sorry, sorry. They really didn’t say much, there."

The ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ star then concluded the sketch by taking a swipe at Mark, following reports he received over $1.5 million for reshoots on ‘All the Money in the World’ after Christopher Plummer replaced disgraced Kevin Spacey, while his co-star Michelle Williams was given a per diem of $80 a day.

She said: "I do want to say, by the way, thank you to the producers for paying us the same amount of money and Mark Wahlberg a million dollars. He took a pay cut, so it’s really nice and generous of him. Thank you so much."

Michelle Williams paid one percent of Mark Wahlberg’s salary

Michelle Williams was reportedly paid just one percent of Mark Wahlberg’s fee for ‘All The Money In The World’ re-shoots.

Scenes for Sir Ridley Scott’s drama had to be reshot ahead of its release after a string of sexual misconduct allegations were made against Kevin Spacey, who was originally playing billionaire J. Paul Getty.

Scott quickly recast Christopher Plummer in the role and asked the rest of the actors to come back to Europe over Thanksgiving weekend last November to reshoot the necessary scenes.

Now a source has told USA Today that Williams was paid just $80 a day for the extra work, amounting to less than $1,000, while Wahlberg’s team negotiated him a fee of $1.5 million.

Williams and Wahlberg are both represented by the William Morris Endeavor agency but the actress was reportedly not told about the deal they had struck for Wahlberg.

However, Scott previously insisted all the cast had agreed to reshoot their scenes for free but did confirm Christopher and the crew were paid for their parts in reshooting the movie.

He said: "Everyone did it for nothing. They all came in for free."

And Williams – who has 12-year-old daughter Matilda with late ex-partner Heath Ledger – was only too happy to give up her Thanksgiving holiday and work for free on the reshoots because she’d worried the project would be "flushed down the toilet" following the accusations against Spacey.

The 37-year-old actress said: "I just thought that this experience that we had all treasured was going to be essentially flushed down the toilet. I adore [Ridley], worship him, would do anything for him. I hated that this man’s time and expertise and gentlemanly-ness was going to be kind of for naught. So when I got the phone call about the change of plans I was thrilled. I was enlivened, it picked me up off the couch a little bit and got me excited. I said I’d be wherever they needed me, whenever they needed me. And they could have my salary, they could have my holiday, whatever they wanted. Because I appreciated so much that they were making this massive effort."

Michelle Williams, Mark Wahlberg worked for free on reshoots

Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg re-shot their ‘All the Money in the World’ scenes for free after Kevin Spacey was fired.

The pair had been due to appear alongside the ‘House of Cards’ actor in the John Paul Getty biopic, but after their co-star was accused of sexual misconduct by a number of men, director Sir Ridley Scott dropped him from the project and brought in Christopher Plummer to play Getty Oil Company magnate J. Paul Getty instead.

The filmmaker spent $10 million reshooting 22 scenes in the kidnapping drama with his new-look cast, and was grateful to the film’s stars that they didn’t ask for more money to be added on to their salaries.

He told USA Today newspaper: "Everyone did it for nothing. They all came in for free."

The 80-year-old director confirmed Christopher and the crew were paid for their parts.

Michelle – who has 12-year-old daughter Matilda with late ex-partner Heath Ledger – was only too happy to give up her Thanksgiving holiday and work for free on the reshoots because she’d worried the project would be "flushed down the toilet" following the accusations against Spacey.

"I said I’d be wherever they needed me, whenever they needed me. And they could have my salary, they could have my holiday, whatever they wanted. Because I appreciated so much that they were making this massive effort."

And Michelle, who plays Gail Harris, the mother of kidnap victim John Paul Getty III – whose oil baron grandfather refused to pay a $10 million ransom for his release – in the movie was happy to get the chance to work with Christopher because she was a big "fan" of the veteran actor.

She told E! News: "I was excited. I have been a fan of his obviously for ages so I was thrilled to work with him and thrilled he was going to contribute to a happier ending on our story."

Mel Gibson’s advice for Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg was advised by Mel Gibson not to "pass" on any movies.

The ‘Deepwater Horizon’ star has revealed how the Hollywood actor and director had advised him to take any and all work opportunities he could.

He said: "He passed on a lot of movies, a lot of really good movies. And he told me, ‘You should get it while there’s time. Get it while it’s there. If you’ve got an opportunity, work.’"

And the 46-year-old actor has developed a very "aggressive" work ethic.

Speaking more generally about his work ethic, he added: "The only way to be the best is to keep working like you got nothing. Keep getting after it, and be more and more aggressive, more and more focused every day. I don’t know. I have more drive and desire now than I ever have."

Mark also puts a lot of work into his general health and fitness and has shared his workout routine with his fans.

He told the January/February issue of Men’s Health magazine: "I don’t play basketball anymore because I don’t want to roll an ankle and miss a movie or screw up my golf game … I’m doing [the Versaclimber] twice a day and jumping rope … If I wake up at 3:30, I can go to the golf course at 6:30, be done by 8:30, and then be home and then do the rest of my stuff: work with a physiotherapist, get treatment, hit the cryo chamber."

Sir Ridley Scott didn’t tell Kevin Spacey he was being placed

Sir Ridley Scott didn’t tell Kevin Spacey he was replacing him in ‘All the Money in the World’.

The Hollywood filmmaker decided to drop the actor from the movie and reshoot the scenes with Christopher Plummer in the role after Spacey was accused of sexual misconduct.

Asked if he contacted Spacey, he said: "No. And he didn’t call me. If he had called me and said, ‘Hey, look, this is the way it is and I’m really sorry,’ then I’d have handled it slightly differently. I’d have still done it [replaced him]. I would have said, ‘Yes, thank you for calling, but I have to move on.’"

Scott was working on the music for the movie – which is still slated for release on December 22 – when he heard the first allegations, that Spacey had made a sexual advance to Anthony Rapp when Rapp was just 14.

Speaking about where he was when he heard about the allegations, he added: "I was finished with the film and was in Abbey Road [recording studio] finalising the music. Someone was like: Guess what? And that’s where it began. I sat and thought about it and realised, we cannot. You can’t tolerate any kind of behaviour like that. And it will affect the film. We cannot let one person’s action affect the good work of all these other people. It’s that simple."

And the 79-year-old director thinks it is "miraculous" that he managed to get everyone back – including Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams – to London and Rome for the reshoots, which took place over the last week.

He told Entertainment Weekly: "You have to know who you’re going to go for [to recast the role] and if he’s available. Chris [Plummer] was always on the list. So you find that out, but quietly, because you don’t want it going around. I flew into New York and met with [Plummer] and he said yes. So then we had to figure out if everyone else would be available to fit in these new days of shooting. Miraculously, they were. Before you can make the decision you have to make these quick phone calls around – not to the actors directly, but to the agents – saying there’s a possibility I may need some pickups [additional shooting days]. You don’t say why because of the gossip, but of course it was really for something much more significant."

Mark Wahlberg clarifies asking God for forgiveness for Boogie Nights

Mark Wahlberg asked for God’s forgiveness for making ‘Boogie Nights’ because he realizes that the all-powerful Supreme Being may not be OK with movies about porn stars.

The 46-year-old hunk recently admitted there are a number of movies that he regrets making and right at "the top of the list" is the award-winning 1997 drama in which he played X-rated actor Dirk Diggler, a character based on real-life adult movie maker John Holmes.

Wahlberg is a devout Roman Catholic and he told the Chicago Tribune: "I just always hope that God is a movie fan and also forgiving, because I’ve made some poor choices in my past."

While promoting his new film ‘Daddy’s Home 2’, Wahlberg admitted he feels that way about some of his previous roles because he’s older and wiser and realizes that some of his work doesn’t necessarily sit well with his morals and religious beliefs.

He told PEOPLE: "I was sitting in front of a couple of thousand kids talking about and trying to encourage them to come back to their faith, and I was just saying that I just hope he has a sense of humor because I made some decisions that may not be OK with him. So, I don’t want to compromise my artistic integrity or choices based on my faith or my family, but I also have other things to consider, and being a little bit older and a little wiser, the idea of having to explain that movie and the reason behind it to my kids is another issue."

Wahlberg had a meeting with Pope Francis – the head of the Catholic Church – in 2015 and during their get together the ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ star jokingly asked His Holiness’ forgiveness for making foul-mouthed comedy ‘Ted’ – in which his character John Bennett is seen smoking cannabis and heavily drinking with his living teddy bear best friend.

The actor also revealed he prays every morning and finds the time by being an early riser by going to bed at before eight o’clock every evening.

The Hollywood star – who is married to model Rhea Durham and has four children with her – also regularly goes to confession to admit his wrongdoings to his priest and he says it’s part of his continual quest to improve himself.

Speaking to the Chicago Tribune newspaper said: "I just always hope that God is a movie fan and also forgiving, because I’ve made some poor choices in my past."

When asked what films he was referring to, he added: "’Boogie Nights’ is up there at the top of the list."

Wahlberg – who was convicted of assault in 1988 and served 45 days of his two-year sentence in an adult prison, despite being a teenager – said: "For me, I’ve got my own issues to deal with … I go to confession and I want to continue to work hard on myself."
