Paramount releases the first Mission: Impossible 7 Trailer

Paramount has released the first teaser for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One online.

The two-minute trailer for the seventh MI film comes more than a year before the film’s July 2023 release date. This first glimpse of the Tom Cruise-led blockbuster showcases various action shots featuring Cruise’s IMF agent Ethan Hunt.  Plot details are scarce, but the trailer does feature dialogue snippets hinting at a global conspiracy with Hunt at the center.

The trailer comes after widespread leaks over the weekend. Paramount quickly handed out copyright claims to any Twitter user caught with the footage early. The film was first shown off last month at CinemaCon but is now being made public for general audiences to see.

Dead Reckoning Part One marks the third Mission: Impossible film from director Christopher McQuarrie (following Rogue Nation and Fallout). Franchise mainstays Cruise, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Rebecca Ferguson are all back reprising their roles from prior films.  Joining the cast this time around is Hayley Atwell as the mysterious Grace, who has been described by McQuarrie as a “destructive force of nature” whose loyalties are “somewhat ambiguous.”

MI 7 hits theaters on July 14, 2023. You can catch up on the Mission: Impossible franchise now on Paramount+.

J.J. Abrams To Produce M:I 4

After having directed Mission: Impossible III in 2006, Tom Cruise wanted Abrams back for the fourth instalment of the series.

Abrams confirmed to TV Guide that he will produce the film, after he was invited by Cruise to join the production. However, Abrams is not involved in directing the film at the moment.

Abrams and Cruise feel that they have good ideas to continue with the adventure series.

Their first film cost 80 million dollars but made 457.7 million dollars at the box office. The second film made 546.3 million dollars on a 125 million dollar budget. Finally, the third film, directed by Abrams, had a budget of 150 million dollars and received 397.8 million dollars at the box office.

J.J. Abrams is also producing the film Morning Glory, which is currently filming with Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams. It will hit theatres on July 30, 2010. He has also signed to direct the  Star Trek 2 movie.

A 4th Mission for Tom Cruise

There is a strong possibility that Tom Cruise is going to assume his role as Ethan Hunt in the fourth Mission: Impossible.

Although Paramount Pictures and Tom Cruise parted ways in 2006, after 14 years of collaboration, they may be teaming up again to take on the new project.

Paramount is reviewing the screenplay, and the actor probably will not hesitate to accept the part.

The fourth film could revive Tom Cruise’s career after his last film, Lions for Lambs, directed and starring Robert Redford, did not have overwhelming success.

Brian De Palma, John Woo and J.J. Abrams directed the first three Mission: Impossible films.

The official directors of the fourth instalment have not been confirmed, however, there is speculation that Tom Cruise would like to work with J.J. Abrams again.

In the meantime, the actor will appear this summer in Tropic Thunder, which will be released on August 15.

Mission: Impossible 3 Sued by Stuntman

Steven Wheatlley is suing Paramount Pictures and Tom Cruise’s production company in a Los Angeles court.  The man is seeking unspecified damages for the burn incident that happened last June 6.

The accident happened when explosives were detonated without any prior warning, and without having proper fire extinguishers on the set.

The defendants have not commented on the case.  Mission: Impossible 3 will open in theatres on May 5.
