An 11-foot alligator seized from a man in New York!

A New York (Hamburg) man has had his 11-foot, 750-pound alligator named Albert seized by the state Department of Environmental Conservation, but the beast’s owner promises to fight to get him back.

Tony Cavallaro designed a home for Albert, an in-ground pool in his Hamburg backyard. Albert’s health problems include blindness and “spinal” complications.

Albert has lived with Cavallaro since he was very young, so he allows curious people to enter the water to pet the alligator, which lives in his space without being attached to anything.

Since the alligator was seized, it has been with a specialized keeper, who will assess the “damage”. The purpose of the capture remains in “the interest of public safety and the health, safety and protection of the alligator”, the department said.

According to the department of State Environmental Conservation, Mr. Cavallaro did not take good care of his Albert, but he certainly refutes the allegations against him, indicating that he took better care of his alligator than some parents take of their children.

“They acted as if I were a criminal dealing in weapons and drugs.” exclaimed Cavallaro.

Incidentally, Cavallaro has owned the animal for 34 years and has always respected the rules, renewing his license every year as required by law.

Tracy Morgan crash verdict

A Wal-Mart truck driver caused a crash which left Tracy Morgan severely injured, the National Transportation Safety Board has ruled.

Kevin Roper hadn’t slept for 28 hours and failed to adhere to warning signs to slow down before the crash on the New Jersey turnpike in June 2014, but the board added that the ’30 Rock’ star and other passengers’ failure to wear seatbelts and adjust headrests in their limousine van also played a role in the severity of their injuries, as most were a result of them hitting the sides of the vehicle.

The board – who presented their findings at a public hearing in Washington yesterday (11.08.15) concluded that if Roper had slowed to 45mph he would have been able to stop before impact and avoided the crash, which left James ‘Jimmy Mack’ McNair dead and four others severely injured.

The board’s chairman, Chris Hart, said: ”One tragic aspect of roadway death is that so often they could have been prevented.”

Roper’s attorney, David Glassman, insisted his client had not gone without sleep for 28 hours.

He said: ”Not only are we disputing it, it is factually wrong.”

The driver had worked for the company for 15 weeks and had nine ”critical event reports”.

The reports were produced by the truck’s computers and kept track of hard braking, activation of the vehicle’s stability control system and other instances that point to unsafe driving.

He was also involved in a separate accident that was deemed to be preventable, resulting in the driver losing his safety bonus.

Following the crash, Tracy was left with a broken leg and was in a coma for two weeks, but is making a slow recovery.

He said recently: ”I’m happy to be alive. I have my good and bad days…I just want to get better and become healthy.”

Julia Roberts selling home

Julia Roberts is selling her New York apartment for $4.5 million.

The ‘Pretty Woman’ actress – who has children who has children Hazel and Phinnaeus, 10, and Henry, seven, with husband Daniel Moder – has put her 2,000-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom Greenwich Village property on the market because she is spending increasing amounts of time in California.

The property boasts a wood-burning fireplace and a terrace which is ideal for entertaining, while the New York Post newspaper describes the home’s decor as ”easy breezy” and ”Hamptons/California-style beachy.”

Julia, 47, is said to ”still love” New York and has no plans to sell her Gramercy Park house, though that is currently rented out to someone else.

The Hollywood beauty recently admitted she thinks the movie industry was much ”easier” when she was beginning her career than what it is now.

She said: ”I think it was easier back when I was starting, probably than it is now. People were nicer, I think.

”There’s just a lot of anonymity now for critiquing people and pretending that you know people, and I think that that becomes complex. There are just a lot of people who hide.”

However, when asked to advise young hopefuls on what they should do, the ‘Normal Heart’ star insisted she wasn’t the right person to ask.

She said her advice would be: ”Don’t take advice from actors. Ever.”

Lady Gaga pens essay urging sexual assault law change

Lady Gaga has penned an essay to support a bill calling for better laws against sexual assault in New York.

The ‘Pokerface’ hitmaker – who previously revealed she was raped as a teenager – has teamed up with the state’s Governor Andrew Cuomo to back the ‘Enough is Enough’ campaign.

In their joint letter for Billboard magazine, the activists wrote: ”Today, too many college students experience sexual assault, too few of the assailants are prosecuted, and too often the survivors lack the resources they need to recover …

”As a result, these victims are not only deprived justice, they are denied the opportunity to tell their stories publicly. Being able to speak about such difficult experiences openly is fundamental to easing a survivor’s recovery and to removing the shame that still shrouds sexual assault.”

The 29-year-old singer and Governor Cuomo urged other politicians to ”stand up” against sexual violence.

They continued: ”We have a responsibility to the young men and women of this country to stand up against sexual violence everywhere. Everyone – from lawmakers and educators to advocates like Born This Way Foundation and the students themselves – need to join forces on this issue.

”Together, we must create the scaffolding necessary to foster the mental, emotional, and physical health of all young people … Quite simply, enough is enough.”

Amanda Seyfried planning sister’s wedding

Amanda Seyfried is planning her older sister’s wedding.

The 29-year-old actress, who is dating Justin Long, is very excited to host her sibling Jenni’s nuptials at her farmhouse in Stone Ridge, New York, in August.

The blonde beauty told the June edition of Vogue magazine: ”She’s with the best guy and it’s going to be great – better than my own party. All the attention is going to be on her, and I’m going to slip away and enjoy myself.”

Jenni, 32, added: ”I never had a dream wedding in mind, but Amanda just got really excited about it and took the reins. It’s very touching.”

The ‘Les Miserables’ star adores the rural home, which she bought last October, but has confessed she will think twice before taking on demanding roles regardless of the pay packet.

She explained: ”They paid me too much money and what I should have done was walk away.I bought a house with that money! But making movies is two solid months of twelve, fourteen-hour days. I mean, it can ruin your relationship.

”And if you make too many bad decisions in a row, people don’t come knocking anymore.”

Sir Paul McCartney buys $15.5 million penthouse

Sir Paul McCartney has splashed out on a $15.5 million penthouse on New York’s Fifth Avenue.

The 72-year-old music icon is reported to have bought the property – described as a ”1960’s time capsule” – at 1045 Fifth Avenue with his wife Nancy Shevell, who he wed in 2011.

Describing the luxurious apartment, The New York Times once called it a ”glamorous 1960’s time capsule with a dash of Hollywood.”

According to the New York Post newspaper, the purchasers were made to register their names as the property is for co-op buyers only, with the couple listing themselves as Paul and Nancy McCartney.

The deluxe complex – which has glamorous views across Central Park – has never been put on the property market before.

It originally belonged to property developer Manny Duell, who used to buy rented buildings and offer them to those who wanted to live with unrelated residents.

While Manny died in 1977, his wife continued to live in the residence until her death in 2014.

The $15.5 million price tag is far from the former Beatles star’s family home in Liverpool, which sold at the beginning of the year for £150,000.

Amanda Seyfried decided to play at being an air stewardess during a recent flight.

On the journey from New York City to Los Angeles, the 29-year-old actress decided to give the American Airlines flight attendants a break and serve them and her fellow travelers cookies in the business class section of the aircraft.

After chatting with a friend, Amanda got up from her seat and took a tray of baked treats to hand out.

A passenger on the flight told UsMagazine.com: ”Amanda just took over and served cookies for the flight attendants! She was super friendly, laughing and joking with the flight attendants for a while. Then she came out with a tray passing everyone the chocolate chip cookies. She was just like, ‘Would you like a cookie? Would you like a cookie?’ to everyone.”

The ‘Mean Girls’ star has been racking up some air miles recently, having filmed an ad campaign in Rome, Italy, as well as attending Paris Fashion Week with her boyfriend Justin Long, sharing her sightseeing snaps on Instagram, including one of her in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Amanda will be based in New York City for the time being, however, as she’s preparing to make her stage debut in the two-person Off-Broadway play ‘The Way We Get By’ at the end of April.

Cara Delevingne won’t let fame inhibit her life

Cara Delevingne hasn’t let her fame stop her from going out in public.

Although she is one of the world’s most successful and photographed models, Cara doesn’t let possible attention stop her from indulging in her favourite pastime, which is to go out walking and exploring, especially in New York City.

Although she does get recognized and stopped, the 22-year-old beauty says most people mistake her for an old acquaintance of theirs rather than a catwalk star.

In an interview with TV show ‘Lorraine’, she said: ”I like to walk around a lot. It really upsets me when I can’t walk because I love walking so when I can’t, because of too many people or whatever, it really upsets me. When I was just a New Yorker I’d go and walk through Times Square and just walk around, it’s really funny. People always just look (at me) and double take … They always looks at me and go, ‘Do I know you from school.’ People always say, ‘You look like that girl.’ It’s great, I love it!”

Cara’s global fame is set to get even greater now she has launched an acting career, with starring roles coming up in Michael Winterbottom’s psychological thriller ‘The Face of An Angel’ – which is out later this month – DC Comics blockbuster ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘London Fields’.

The catwalk star insists it’s something she’s willing to accept because her dream has always been to be an actress.

She revealed: ”Modeling I love but acting is my passion. I think modeling kind of chose me, it’s never what I expected, I always wanted to be an actress and I think I use acting so much in modelling. You ask anyone I do a shoot with, I’m always running around doing accents, dancing, singing, it’s never just a normal shoot!”
