Former Mass Effect devs show off new fantasy game, Nightingale

A new trailer for the Canadian-made game Nightingale was revealed at Summer Game Fest 2022.

It’s a shared world survival-crafting title from Edmonton-based Inflexion Games, a new studio made up of former BioWare (Mass Effect) developers, including former general manager Aaron Flynn.

Notably, the game is set in a Victorian fantasy world of Nightingale, which gives it a visually distinct look. In Nightingale, you’ll be able to play alone or with other people as you gather materials, craft new items and face off against all kinds of twisted creatures.

The trailer showcases some crafting gameplay, with the character harvesting resources with an axe, as well as fighting against spiders and other beasts with shotguns, crossbows and more.

A release date for Nightingale hasn’t yet been confirmed, but you can sign up for updates on the game via its website.

Former BioWare boss unveils Victorian-era survival crafting game Nightingale

The next game from former BioWare Edmonton boss Aaryn Flynn has been revealed at The Game Awards.

Officially titled Nightingale, it’s a shared-world survival crafting game set in a Victorian-era fantasy world. The game is being developed by Edmonton-based Inflexion Games, formerly known as Improbable IO.

In the trailer, you can see characters navigating different portals and facing off against terrifying creatures. Because of the shared-world element, you’ll be able to play either with other people or on your own.

Nightingale is set to launch in early access on PC next year.

It’s an exciting project, given Flynn’s pedigree. The Canadian developer left BioWare in 2017 to join Improbable after a lengthy tenure that had him overseeing the beloved Mass Effect trilogy.
