Sandra Bullock’s triumphant return to Oscars

One year after scandal broke up her marriage and detracted from her best actress win, Sandra Bullock returned to the Academy Awards red carpet yesterday (February 27), saying she was "a better person" for all that had happened during the previous year, reports Us magazine.

Only four days after taking home the 2010 best actress Oscar for her work in The Blind Side, Bullock separated from then-husband Jesse James when news broke of his extra-marital affairs.

Bullock then quietly retreated from the movie business in order to focus on family and raising her newly-adopted son Louis.

"It’s made me a better person. I’m more patient and accommodating. I really appreciate where I am," Bullock told NBC during a red carpet interview, where the actress was on hand to present this year’s award for best actor.

"When I was presenting last time I’d only had like two hours and I don’t remember anything. I remember none of it," Bullock admitted to E!

She offered a few words of advice to Oscar novices: "Relax, doesn’t matter, you’ve made great friends along the way. Just remember it."

Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Oscar

In an interview with E! Online, Kristen Stewart confirmed that she will be going to the Oscars on March 7 with Twilight co-star Taylor Lautner.

"Yeah, I’m going. Me and Taylor are going to present," she says. The actress admits she is very nervous about going to the biggest film event of the year.  She adds, "I’ve been looking at shoes. I’m trying to pick shoes that I know I won’t fall down in."

She also reveals that filming of the last Twilight instalment, Breaking Dawn, has not gotten the green light yet from the studio. The actors were told to be ready to start filming in November.

It is not known whether the last instalment will be made into one film or two. According to Stewart, it would be better to do two films because it is impossible to put it all into one.

This time, the film by Xavier Dolan, J’ai tué ma mère, could be heading to Hollywood. The love-hate story between Hubert (Dolan) and his mother (Anne Dorval) has already made waves at the Directors’ Fortnight during the Cannes Film Festival, where the young director earned three awards.

Last year, the film Ce qu’il faut pour vivre by Benoit Pilon, represented Canada, but was not chosen as a finalist.

A Last Minute Joke for the Oscars

At the last minute, Stiller decided to dress as Joaquin Phoenix at the Oscars on Sunday (February 22).

The actor was presenting an award with Natalie Portman for Best Cinematography.  Stiller donned a beard, sunglasses and long hair, making reference to Phoenix’s recent appearance on the David Letterman Show.

Having not been too pleased with what was originally scripted for him, Stiller had a better idea in mind.  A source told the New York Post, "Ben refused to tell them what he planned until he arrived at the Kodak Theatre, and then he did that Joaquin Phoenix bit."
