Robert De Niro moves into $125k-a-month apartment

Robert De Niro has moved into a $125,000-a-month apartment.

The 71-year-old actor and his wife Grace Hightower have moved out of their rental property in West Village and into the five-bedroom abode, one of the most expensive rental apartments in New York, after being left homeless in 2012 when a fire ripped through their flat.

A source told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column that the couple were keen to move closer to their former home until renovations on their existing abode are complete.

Their latest rented home, which is on the market for $65 million after previously being listed for $95 million in 2012, takes up a whole floor of a tower at 15 Central Park West, near to their fire damaged apartment at 88 Central Park West.

The pricey New York pad is made up of two condo apartments which have been combined into one and were previously rented for $70,000 per month by Cameron Diaz’s ex, New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez, and investor Henry Silverman.

As well as a selection of bedrooms, the couple should have no problem keeping clean in their new abode as it features seven bathrooms.

What’s more, visitors to the couple’s home might like to take in the stunning views of the Hudson River, Central Park and downtown Manhattan from the abode, while the property also boasts a library and a dining room ideal for putting on dinner parties for their fellow actors and actresses.

Sir Richard Attenborough dies aged 90

Sir Richard Attenborough has died aged 90.

The Veteran actor and film director sadly passed away at lunchtime on Sunday (08.24.14), his son Michael has revealed to the BBC.

Sir Richard was famed for his appearances in ‘Brighton Rock’, ‘The Great Escape’ and ‘Jurassic Park,’ as well as his directing role in ‘Gandhi,’ for which he won two Oscar awards – Best Picture and Best Director – in 1983.

The star’s health had been deteriorating after he fell down the stairs at his home in 2008 following a stroke.

Sir Richard’s brother David, 88, revealed in 2011 that his older sibling had been confined to a wheel chair since the stroke and was still able to hold a conversation, but wouldn’t be making any more films.

A year later in 2012, Richard’s wife Sheila Sim, whom he married in 1945, entered the retirement home Denville Hall in Northwood, London, after she was diagnosed with senile dementia.

In March 2013, Richard’s health took a turn for the worse and he was also moved into the nursing home.

Richard and Sheila had three children together, Jane – who was tragically killed in a tsunami along with her daughter Lucy in 2004 – and Michael and Charlotte.

Meanwhile, Richard’s family are expected to make a full statement tomorrow (08.25.14).
