Here are the free games coming to PlayStation Plus Essential in May 2023

Sony has released the list of games coming to PlayStation Plus Essential in May.

One highlight of the announcement is the arrival of 2022’s GRID Legends for PS4 and PS5.

Below is the full list of the titles coming to PlayStation Plus Essential in May:

  • GRID Legends (PS4 and PS5)
  • Chivalry 2 (PS4 and PS5)
  • Descenders (PS4)

PlayStation Plus Essential subscriptions cost $11.99 CAD/month. Users can also opt for a yearly membership for $69.99.

PlayStation Plus members have until May 1st to download one of April’s free monthly titles, Meet Your Maker, Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Tails of Iron, to their game library.

Gamers looking for some tunes while they play can check out PlayStation Plus’s monthly games-inspired playlist on Spotify, which is also updated monthly.

Sony has revealed what’s coming to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium in April.

Some of this month’s highlights include Kena: Bridge of SpiritsDoom Eternal and Paradise Killer. All of these games and more are coming to Extra and Premium on April 19th.

Here are the free games hitting PlayStation Plus Essential in April 2023

PlayStation has revealed the free games coming to PlayStation Plus Essential in April 2023.

Leading this month’s lineup is Build Your Maker on PS4 and PS5 is releasing day one on PlayStation Plus. The first-person building and raiding game hails from Montreal’s Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Dead by Daylight.

Also notable is Sackboy: A Big Adventure, a co-op-supported, Super Mario 3D World-esque platformer that’s available on both PS4 and PS5.

Rounding out this month’s trio of freebies is Tails of Iron, a hand-drawn RPG for PS4 and PS5.

All three games will be free through PS Plus Essential, the base PS Plus membership, from April 4th to May 1st. March’s Essential titles will remain free until April 3rd.

PlayStation has revealed the free games coming to PlayStation Plus Essential in March 2023.

The three games in question are first-person shooter Battlefield 2042 (PS4/PS5), dungeon crawler Minecraft Dungeons (PS4) and action-RPG Code Vein (PS4). All three titles will be available through PS Plus from March 7th to April 4th.

PlayStation Plus Essential costs $11.99/month or $69.99/year.

Additionally, PlayStation took some time during its latest State of Play presentation to tease what’s coming to PS Plus Extra in March:

  • Ghostwire: Tokyo (PS5)
  • Immortals: Fenyx Rising (PS4/PS5)
  • Rainbow Six: Extraction (PS4/PS5)
  • Tchia (PS4/PS5) — March 21st (day one launch on PS Plus)
  • Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (PS5)

Tchia is the only game to get a specific PS Plus release date.

Meanwhile, February’s Essential and Extra/Premium games are still available.

Here are the free games hitting PlayStation Plus Essential in February 2023

Every month, PlayStation offers a handful of games at no additional cost to its PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Normally, there are three games offered each month through PlayStation Plus Essential, but in February, PlayStation is actually giving out four. Read on to find out which ones. (PlayStation will announce January’s PS Plus Extra and Premium games in the coming days.)

To start, two games that released last year are joining the catalogue: the skater Olli Olli World and survival horror title Evil Dead: The Game, both for PS4/PS5. Also free on both consoles is the Destiny 2 expansion, Beyond Light, which is this month’s bonus title. Finally, action-adventure remaster Mafia: Definitive Edition is up for grabs on PS4.

All four titles will be available to download through PS Plus from Tuesday, February 7th until Monday, March 6th. Meanwhile, January’s free PS Plus Essential titles will remain available until February 6th.

PlayStation Plus Essential starts at $11.99 CAD/month, Extra begins at $17.99/month and Premium is priced at $21.99/month. PS Plus Essential perks, including the monthly free games, are included in Extra and Premium plans.

Additionally, PlayStation has confirmed that the PS Plus Collection — more than a dozen PS4 games that are free on PS5 to PS Plus subscribers — will no longer be offered starting May 9th. However, anyone who claims these titles before then will be able to continue playing them beyond May 9th as long as they remain subscribed to PS Plus.

Every month, PlayStation offers a handful of games at no additional cost to its PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Now, the company has revealed the trio of titles hitting PlayStation Plus Essential in January 2023. (PlayStation will announce January’s PS Plus Extra and Premium games in the coming days.)

This month’s highlight is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Respawn’s 2019 Souls-like action-adventure game, which is free on both PS4 and PS5. The sequel, Jedi: Survivor, will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on March 17th, 2023.

January’s other two free PS Plus games are the platformer Axiom Verge 2 (PS4/PS5) and online action-RPG Fallout 76 (PS4).

All three games will be free through PS Plus starting January 3rd. Meanwhile, December’s free PS Plus Essential games will remain available until January 2nd.

Notably, this month’s highlight is Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a remastered PS4 collection of BioWare Edmonton’s beloved sci-fi shooter Mass Effect trilogy. Rounding out this month are two PS4 and PS5 games, the third-person platformer fighter Divine Knockout: Founder’s Edition and action-RPG Biomutant.

All three games will be available for free through PS Plus from December 6th to January 2nd. Meanwhile, November’s free PS Plus Essential games will remain available until December 5th.
