PlayStation has revealed the free games coming to PlayStation Plus Essential in April 2023.

Leading this month’s lineup is Build Your Maker on PS4 and PS5 is releasing day one on PlayStation Plus. The first-person building and raiding game hails from Montreal’s Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Dead by Daylight.

Also notable is Sackboy: A Big Adventure, a co-op-supported, Super Mario 3D World-esque platformer that’s available on both PS4 and PS5.

Rounding out this month’s trio of freebies is Tails of Iron, a hand-drawn RPG for PS4 and PS5.

All three games will be free through PS Plus Essential, the base PS Plus membership, from April 4th to May 1st. March’s Essential titles will remain free until April 3rd.

Here are the free games hitting PlayStation Plus Essential in February 2023

Every month, PlayStation offers a handful of games at no additional cost to its PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Normally, there are three games offered each month through PlayStation Plus Essential, but in February, PlayStation is actually giving out four. Read on to find out which ones. (PlayStation will announce January’s PS Plus Extra and Premium games in the coming days.)

To start, two games that released last year are joining the catalogue: the skater Olli Olli World and survival horror title Evil Dead: The Game, both for PS4/PS5. Also free on both consoles is the Destiny 2 expansion, Beyond Light, which is this month’s bonus title. Finally, action-adventure remaster Mafia: Definitive Edition is up for grabs on PS4.

All four titles will be available to download through PS Plus from Tuesday, February 7th until Monday, March 6th. Meanwhile, January’s free PS Plus Essential titles will remain available until February 6th.

PlayStation Plus Essential starts at $11.99 CAD/month, Extra begins at $17.99/month and Premium is priced at $21.99/month. PS Plus Essential perks, including the monthly free games, are included in Extra and Premium plans.

Additionally, PlayStation has confirmed that the PS Plus Collection — more than a dozen PS4 games that are free on PS5 to PS Plus subscribers — will no longer be offered starting May 9th. However, anyone who claims these titles before then will be able to continue playing them beyond May 9th as long as they remain subscribed to PS Plus.

Here are the free games hitting PlayStation Plus Essential in August 2022

Every month, PlayStation offers a handful of games at no additional cost to its PlayStation Plus service.

As part of a recent revamp, it’s now broken up into three tiers, with ‘Essential’ being the new name for the base version of PS Plus which is identical to the previous one. The more expensive ‘Extra’ and ‘Premium’ memberships offer everything included with Essential, plus bigger game catalogues and other perks.

With that in mind, here are the three games coming to PS Plus Essential in August 2022.

To start, the RPG Yakuza: Like a Dragon and skateboarder Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Cross-Gen Deluxe Bundle will be offered on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Meanwhile, the puzzle-platform horror title Little Nightmares will be available through PS Plus on PS4.

PS Plus subscribers will be able to claim all three titles for free from August 2nd to September 16th.

Additionally, PlayStation has confirmed that the seven other Yakuza games will eventually be available through the higher PS Plus tiers, starting with 0Kiwami and Kiwami 2 in August.
