Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer shows off competitive play

To coincide with the Pokémon World Championship, the Pokémon Company has released a new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The new trailer focuses on the competitive aspect of the Pokémon game series and shows off a new Pocket Monster, Cyclizar. As the name sort of implies, Cyclizar is a lizard-looking Pokémon with bicycle-like elements. The Dragon/Normal-type is apparently ridden throughout the Paldean region by NPCs. It also resembles the Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon that the player will be able to ride throughout the region.

Cyclizar also has a new move called ‘Shed Tail,’ which will be great for competitive play. The move creates a substitute Pokémon then switches out, protecting your original Pokémon with the substitute.

New items also include Covert Cloak, which protects the holder from the additional effects of moves, and Loaded Dice, which will make multi-hit moves more likely to land.

There were also further details about Terastalization and a new move called Tera Blast, which changes based on your Terastal type.

Lastly, the Battle Stadium is making a return and includes ‘Casual,’ ‘Ranked,’ ‘Online Competitions,’ and ‘Rental Teams.’

Say goodbye to Pokémon Wave Hello

Google has removed the Pokémon Wave Hello app from the Play Store.

Pokémon Wave Hello launched alongside the Pixel 4 back in 2019 and used the Pixel 4’s Soli Motion Sense technology, which allowed users to wave at new generation-8 Pokémon, like Pikachu or Scorbunny.

It’s worth noting that is different than the Pokémon live wallpaper that’s available in the “Come Alive” section of the Google wallpaper app. The live wallpaper remains available on Pixel 4 and 4 XL devices.

As noted by 9to5Google, the app is no longer in the store. Pokémon Wave Hello was published under the Developed by Google account, which hosts AR Stickers.

The internet is thirsting hard for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s new professors

The Pokémon Company recently released the latest trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, revealing new Pokémon, a co-op mechanic, its November 18th launch date and most importantly, its two new professors.

Unlike previous Pokémon titles, you’ll have a different professor depending on if you play Scarlet or Violet. Professor Sada is exclusive to Scarlet and Professor Turo is exclusive to Violet. Professor Sada, whose name is short for ‘pasada’– the Spanish word for pasta — wears more prehistoric clothing à la Flintstones, whereas Professor Turo, whose name is short for ‘futuro’ — the Spanish word for future — is in gear that looks more futuristic.

While cool, what’s more interesting is the thirsty reaction on social media to the new professors — which is entirely understandable.

Below are a few notable takes on Professor Turo and Sada.

Pokémon Violet and Scarlet will release on November 18th, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.

New Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer reveals classic gameplay and four-player co-op

The latest Pokémon Scarlet/Violet trailer has dropped, revealing a more comprehensive look at the new game’s map, characters and more. The trailer even finally reveals the upcoming title’s new legendary Pokémon

The trailer suggests that Scarlet and Violet game will play out similarly to 2019’s Sword and Shield , but with a few modern touches brought over from Pokémon Arceus Legends, such as sneaking and being able to move around freely in an expansive 3D space.

Some fans of the series believe that this new Pokémon realm is based in Spain or South America, and the landscape in the new trailer does seem to add up to that.

Another modern feature that’s being brought into Pokémon Scarlet/Violet is four-player online co-op. Previous entries have offered some form of a multiplayer battling system, but the new co-operative play should add a fun new wrinkle that takes the raiding mechanics from Sword and Shield to the next level.

You can watch the trailer below and keep your eye out to see all the new Pokémon that are revealed.

Ahead of its “late 2022” release on Nintendo Switch, The Pokémon Company are set to show off what is likely to be the first big look at the games. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were first revealed earlier this year. At the time, we caught short glimpses of the Spanish-influenced overworld, locations, and many familiar faces. Though the announcement trailer ended with showing Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, the starters of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Beyond that, we don’t know how much in terms of the battle system, gyms, or the full extent of the Pokémon available. However, The Pokémon Company has been adamant in saying the games feature a more seamless transition between towns and the wild. Pokémon can also be visibly seen in the wild in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Samsung releases Poké Ball themed Galaxy Buds cases

Samsung has released a Pokémon-themed Poké Ball case for the Galaxy Buds earbuds, but only in South Korea.

According to Gizmodothe case is a limited edition and costs 134,000 won (roughly $134 CAD).

It’s worth noting that with this case, you’re actually putting the regular charging case for the Galaxy Buds 2, Galaxy Buds Pro or Galaxy Buds Live inside the Poké Ball — so it’s really a case for your case.

There are also Pokémon-themed stickers to add to the case as well.

It’s likely we won’t see the Poké Ball case outside of South Korea, unfortunately.

Pokémon Home 2.0 adds compatibility with latest Nintendo Switch titles

Pokémon Home 2.0 is available now.

The Pokémon Company is rolling out its major software update for its app on mobile and Nintendo Switch. Version 2.0 is the largest update the service has seen since its launch. It also adds some much-desired compatibility for newer Pokémon titles.

Starting today, Pokémon Home’s cloud service is available for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, and Pokémon Shining Pearl. This means that Pokémon trainers can now transfer, manage, and store their collection of pocket monsters between these newer games.

In addition, Pokémon Home Version 2.0 introduces Strange Balls. The Pokémon Company states that Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place “in the distant past of the world of Pokémon.” Due to this, any Pokémon caught in other tentpole titles will appear in Strange Balls. Though, Pokémon caught in Pokémon Legends: Arceus will appear in standard Poké Balls in other games.

Additionally, The Pokémon Company is celebrating the launch of Version 2.0 by offering special Pokémon when linking games.

When linking Pokémon Legends: Arceus with Pokémon Home, players will receive Rowlet, Cyndaquil and Oshawott with maximum effort levels as Mystery Gifts. These are accessible within the app on iOS and Android.

Likewise, players linking Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl into the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon Home will receive Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup with Hidden Abilities.

Finally, Pokémon Home Version 2.0 adds new achievements and stickers. These can be obtained by reaching certain milestones or meeting certain conditions in the mobile device version of Pokémon Home.

Pokémon Home Version 2.0 is available on iO, Android and Switch.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus anime spin-off starts May 18 on Youtube

Like other Pokémon games, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is getting an anime spin-off starting May 18th on YouTube.

You can catch it on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.

Pokémon: Hisuian Snow tells the story of a boy named Alec and his encounter with a Hisiuan Zorua. According to the Pokémon website, when Alec was younger, his father taught him that people and Pokémon couldn’t live together, but now he might get a different lesson.

The series is being developed by WIT Studio, a Japanese animation company responsible for shows like Spy X Family, Ranking of Kings, The Ancient Magus’ Bride and more.

Oddly enough, Ash and friends have been on their own adventures that don’t tie into any of the series games. Because of this, we haven’t seen a game-anime tie-in since 2019.
