The fifth season of TheHandmaid’s Tale will have two streaming homes this fall. At the time of publication of this story, Crave and Prime Video claim that the TV show will land on their respective platforms on September 14th.
While the TV show is filmed in Canada, TheHandmaid’s Tale streams as a Hulu Original in the United States. In theory, since Disney owns Hulu, most would assume that the TV show would end up streaming on Disney+ via Star now that the section is available in Canada. However, in Canada, Bell Media’s Crave has been the home of TheHandmaid’s Tale for several years.
Other Hulu Originals have streamed on Prime Video in Canada, suggesting the service is either getting more aggressive when it licenses content or that it has a deal with Disney regarding the platform’s content streaming in Canada. If accurate, this would be one of the few instances where a popular TV show is available on two platforms at once. TheHandmaid’s Tale will also air on CTV.
MobileSyrup has reached out to Bell and Amazon Prime Video for more information. Bell has stated that TheHandmaid’s Tale will stream on Crave with back-to-back episodes on September 14th. TheHandmaid’s Tale seasons 1-4 are also available on Crave, according to a Bell spokesperson.
Prime Video has yet to offer MobileSyrup more information.
A synopsis for the fifth season of TheHandmaid’s Tale is as follows:
“June faces consequences for killing Commander Waterford while struggling to redefine her identity and purpose. The widowed Serena attempts to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence works with Nick and Aunt Lydia as he tries to reform Gilead and rise in power. June, Luke and Moira fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah.”

Amazon Prime is priced at $79 per year with a 30-day trial period. The trial isn’t available for those in Quebec, but Prime Video costs $79 for a 13-month subscription, giving you one extra month for the same price.
Amazon Prime Video is available on Android, iOS, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Google TV, PlayStation, Xbox and more.
Amazon is rolling out a new user interface for Prime Video. At long last, it seems the tech giant aims to clean up the interface and provide a better experience for Prime Video subscribers.
Prime Video offers an extensive library. However, Amazon mixes much of the included catalogue of shows and movies with content that requires additional payments or subscriptions. It often becomes difficult to find a movie offered through Prime Video versus one available via premium video-on-demand (PVOD).
With this in mind, Amazon is rolling out a new user interface to help solve this issue. Subscribers of the service will begin to see a newly redesigned experience on their devices. The rollout starts with Fire TV sticks and Android phones. Following the successful release on the aforementioned devices, the new interface will arrive on desktop and iOS.
It appears as though Amazon is taking a page out of the book of Netflix. The redesigned Prime Video app will soon offer a more simplified side menu. This will include options to navigate between Home, Store, Find, Live TV, Free with Ads and My Stuff pages. Each provides its own catalogue of content.
For instance, if you’re hoping to rent Spider-Man: No Way Home, you’d merely have to navigate to the Store page and purchase the rental. Alternatively, once The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power is available, it can be found via the Prime Amazon Originals sub-menu on the Home page.
A big part of this new change is to help identify which piece of content is available via the Prime Video subscription and what isn’t. Pieces of content such as The Terminal List, another Amazon Original, have a blue checkmark next to them. Shows, movies, etc. that are available to rent or buy will have a shopping bag icon next to them.
Plus, Amazon is including a Top 10 Chart, mimicking Netflix. This will showcase the top 10 ranked titles at the time. Much like Netflix, this list will likely rotate each week, though that remains unclear.
Overall, this should help clean up the matter of what is included with a Prime Video subscription and what comes as an add-on or additional purchase. With live channel bundles like StackTV and AMC+ on top of PVOD purchases available, a Prime Video UI refresh was long overdue.
Amazon has not clarified when the desktop and iOS updates are due to arrive. Additionally, it’s not clear whether native smart TV apps will be updated.

Amazon says that in the three days since season 3’s release, the popular TV show has experienced 17 percent viewership growth over season 2 and 234 percent over season one.
“From our first conversation with Eric Kripke and the creative team about Season Three of The Boys, we knew the show was continuing to get even bolder — an impressive feat considering the wild success of the Emmy-nominated second season,” said Vernon Sanders, head of global television at Amazon Studios, in a recent statement.
The franchise also offers an animated series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical (currently streaming on Prime Video) and an Untitled Boys Spinoff is currently in the works.
In a statement, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke also said, “this is the first time in history that exploding genitalia has led to further success,” which is a weird flex, but this is also undeniably one of season 3’s best moments.
It’s unclear when the fourth season of The Boys will release.
The Boys season 3 is available to stream in Canada on Prime Video, which costs 9.99/month or $99/year. The first three episodes of season three are now available to stream, with new episodes dropping every Friday at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
