Rogers adds two cell towers to project closing wireless gap along Highway of Tears

Rogers is adding two additional cellular towers along Highway 16 in B.C.

The move is part of the company’s plan to extend wireless services along part of the highway, also known as the Highway of Tears. The name references the many Indigenous women and girls who go missing along the highway.

A total of 14 cell towers will go up along the highway between Prince Rupert and Prince George under the commitment.

The two new towers will add 26 kilometres of service on top of the 252 kilometres the original 12 towers will bring.

“These towers will provide salvation to many vulnerable people in the area,” Mary Teegee, a Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) activist, said. “Connectivity isn’t just cell phones, and this project will be foundational to build further, much needed services like bus routes in the area to make a difference.”

Rogers started constructing the first towers late last year.

The company has also sponsored two memorial Totem Poles that will be placed at each end of the Highway of Tears. The project is known as the Two Sisters Totem poles. The MMIWG and the Indian Residential Schools Survivors Society (IRSSS) started the project.

“Projects like this are key to ensuring women, especially Indigenous women, who are not safe can call for help and receive the services they need,” Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development, said.

Prince George’s police passion

Prince George is "obsessed" with police.

The four-year-old royal’s father, Prince William, met with winners of the Metropolitan Police Excellence Awards at a Kensington Palace reception on Tuesday (03.13.18) and the 35-year-old prince – who was joined at the event by his younger brother, Prince Harry – revealed his son would love to be a cop when he gets older.

Police commissioner Jayne Richardson told William – who also has two-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte with his pregnant wife Duchess Catherine – there are more officers needed at Scotland Yard.

She joked: "We are recruiting, actually, so if George and Charlotte are keen?"

William replied: "[George] is obsessed, actually, by the police . . . cars, toys, everything."

And William also spoke to cadet of the year, Nabil Laasid, who was honoured for completing almost 1,000 hours of volunteering last year, and the commissioner suggested the young royals could sign up to volunteer when they get a little older.

Jane said after the event: "We’re only based just down the road in Kensington and I said to him ‘Perhaps Prince George and Princess Charlotte could join the police cadets’.

"And he said ‘Well he does like the police at the moment’."

Williams comments come after it was revealed in November that the only thing George had asked for for Christmas was a toy police car.

The Duke of Cambridge had met with a Santa Claus during a trip to Finland and handed over a handwritten letter from his son, which featured a request just for the vehicle.

William said as he passed on the note: "I’ve seen you, and I had to give you this letter.

"He hasn’t written down many requests, so I think one request is probably OK."

George had also circled that he had been "nice", rather than "naughty" that year, which William pointed out.

He said: "But he’s been a nice boy, a nice boy."

Meanwhile, William’s wife Catherine recently revealed her husband – who is president of BAFTA – and son bond over their shared interest in film.

The duchess was overheard speaking to the director of Disney’s ‘Coco’, Lee Unkrich, at the BAFTA Awards last month, saying: "I’m desperate to see it. Lots of girlfriends have been to see it with their kiddies and been really impressed with it.

"They [George and William] are just getting into films now, George is four-and-a-half. ‘Paddington’ is definitely up there, and so is ‘Coco’ now.

"It’s great obviously because of William’s interest in film, it’s great to have that father-son thing."

William and Catherine also revealed in October, that the youngster relishes spending time in front of the screen at home, where he watches the kids’ series ‘The Octonauts’, as well as ‘The Lion King’ and the ‘Lego’ movies.

During a conversation with a young boy – which has been posted on Twitter – William was asked about his son’s hobbies, and he replied: "He quite likes ‘The Lion King’. We’ve watched that a few times.

"He’s watched ‘Octonauts’. Trying to keep him off the television is hard work."

The Willcocks Nursery School said: "We are delighted that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen the Willcocks Nursery School for Princess Charlotte. We look forward to welcoming Charlotte to our nursery in January."

Eddie Redmayne: I’ve seen Prince William’s privates

Eddie Redmayne has seen Prince William’s privates.

The 34-year-old actor is old school friends with the royal as they both boarded together at the highly regarded Eton College in Windsor, England, and has admitted to having both witnessed the prince, also 34, drunk as well as having seen Will’s willy.

Although the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ star didn’t divulge any details, when ‘Watch What Happens Live’ host Andy Cohen asked him if he had ever caught a glimpse of the future King’s private parts, Eddie said: "Yes."

And the star gave the same answer when asked if he had ever got drunk with the royal air ambulance pilot – who is currently second in line to the throne.

‘The Theory of Everything’ actor – who has five-month-old daughter Iris with his wife Hannah Bagshawe – also played on Eton College’s rugby team alongside Prince William, and said his friend’s reputation gave the rest of the team an easy ride.

He said: "The thing about playing rugby with Prince William is it was great for us, but you would go and want to play but all the people from the other schools would want to tackle him because they could go home and tell their families they tackled Prince William; so we were sort of running around with no-one on us."

And Eddie has revealed he found it interesting watching his fellow school friends "suck up" to William and his bodyguards.

He said: "I do remember that you would go out and the rugby pitches would be quite far away, and he had bodyguards all over the place and they would drive.

"So there would always be a race to see who suck up to him and bodyguards the most so that they could get a lift to the rugby pitches and back."

Meanwhile the actor says he recently caught up with William and his wife the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton – with whom he shares two children, Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, 18 months – at a "charity event".

Eddie added: "I saw him at a charity event and he was on very good form. We bonded over newborn children so felt grown up and old."

Prince George gives Ben Affleck’s son a cold

Ben Affleck’s son caught a cold from Prince George.

The ‘Accountant’ star has three children – Violet, 10, Seraphina, seven, four-year-old Samuel – with estranged wife Jennifer Garner and when they visited London earlier this year, they enjoyed time at an indoor play area.

However, Ben was unaware that among the other kids there were Prince George, three, and his 18-month-old sister Princess Charlotte.

He said: "I noticed this weird vibe from the other grownups. They were all very well dressed and they had earpieces and I thought, ‘For a kids’ place this is tight security!’ I was the very last person to realize that Prince George and Princess Charlotte were in there playing with my kid."

And just days later, little Sam came down with a cold, which Ben is blaming it on George.

He told ‘The Graham Norton Show’: "I can now tell [Sam] that he got a cold from the King of England!"

Although they had a great time in London, Ben says they weren’t impressed when they went to see the famed changing of the guard.

He admitted: "Now if it was in America – and I hate to admit this – you’d get a VIP pass. You’d get backstage and they would accommodate you. So I got a tour guide thinking this guy will accommodate me but that wasn’t the case!

"He took us to the middle of the street but we were so far away not only couldn’t we see the guard, we couldn’t see the fence! We were surrounded by 50,000 tourists looking for selfie opportunities and we never saw the guards change! It was a disaster!"

Pippa Middleton hacking suspect released on bail

A man arrested on suspicion of hacking Pippa Middleton’s iCloud account has been bailed.

Website designer Nathan Wyatt, 35, swore at waiting photographers when he returned to his home in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, late on Sunday (25.09.16) after being quizzed over the theft of around 3,000 photographs belonging to the party planner – who is the younger sister of Duchess Catherine, the wife of Prince William – which were then offered for sale for £50,000.

Local residents had previously said they were shocked when police descended on the home Wyatt shares with fiancée Kelly Howell and their children in connection with the theft.

Neighbor Patricia Kightly said: "They are a nice, respectable couple. I have only heard them squabbling twice in the years they’ve been here.

"They’ve even kept an eye on my house while I’ve been away for me so they are people I trust."

Another surprised local resident said: "He stays at home and she works.

"They all turned up at 10pm on Saturday night. They were taking a lot of pictures in the house but also outside.

"The cops were checking in the boot of his car and looking for paperwork.

"He is friendly and always says good morning – police haven’t told us what it is about."

The hacked images – which were offered for sale by someone demanding $65,000 within 48 hours – included pictures of Pippa’s nephew Prince George and niece Princess Charlotte, a photo of the party planner at a wedding dress fitting and a nude shot of her fiancé James Matthews.

A "respectable" stay-at-home father has been arrested in connection with the hacking of Pippa Middleton’s iCloud account resulting in 3,000 private photos being obtained.

Neighbour Patricia Kightly said of Nathan and his fiancée Kelly Howell: "They are a nice, respectable couple. I have only heard them squabbling twice in the years they’ve been here.

"They’ve even kept an eye on my house while I’ve been away for me so they are people I trust."

Another surprised local resident told The Sun newspaper: "He stays at home and she works.

"They all turned up at 10pm on Saturday night. They were taking a lot of pictures in the house but also outside.

"The cops were checking in the boot of his car and looking for paperwork.

"He is friendly and always says good morning – police haven’t told us what it is about."

Police have confirmed they have made an arrest in connection with the case.

Prince Harry’s paternal pride

Britain’s Prince Harry already feels like a "dad".

The 31-year-old royal would love to have children of his own one day but for the time being, his focus is on his Invictus Games – a sporting contest for injured service personnel which is currently taking place in Florida – and he admitted he has paternal pride towards all the competitors.

Asked by ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Susanna Reid if he wants to have children, he said: "Me and being a dad? God, you know, one thing at a time Susanna, one thing at a time. I look forward to the time when it comes but at the moment I’m dad to 110 of these competitors, and well actually probably more like 500, but you know I feel incredibly proud.

"It’s not pride for the games, it’s pride for them, military or nonmilitary, these games have somehow managed to create this amazing inspiration, to encourage anybody from any walks of life to get up and smash it and make the most of your second chance I guess."

The former Army officer is also a devoted uncle to his brother Prince William and sister-in-law Duchess Catherine’s children, two-year-old Prince George and 12-month-old Princess Charlotte, and wishes he’d been able to take them out to the US to watch the Games and meet the military veterans.

He said: "It’s a shame that they’re not old enough to come out here but hopefully whether it’s the next games or the ones after that, get them down there and give them an opportunity to come and enjoy it and see some remarkable people doing some amazing things.

"I think George is almost at that age where he would completely get it, completely understand and probably be one of those kids going up going, ‘You’ve got no legs, why’s that?’ And the guys would be more than happy to tell the kids that."

Duchess Catherine buys hamsters for kids

Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge has bought a hamster.

The 34-year-old royal and her husband Prince William have added the small rodent named Marvin to their family and the fluffy creature has already proved a huge hit with their two children, Princess Charlotte, 12 months, and Prince George, two.

While attending the opening of the Magic Garden at Hampton Court Palace in greater London today (05.04.16), the duchess told children from St John the Baptist Junior School in Hampton Wick about the family’s new addition.

A young girl named Darcey told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "She said she had a hamster, and Charlotte really likes it because the whiskers always tickle her face."

The brunette beauty – who was formerly known as Kate Middleton before she wed William in 2011 – told the youngsters that Marvin is kept at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, competing for attention with the family dog, Lupo.

And, although Catherine refused to shed light on how they came up with the hamster’s adorable moniker, it’s believed the furry creature may have been named after George’s favourite book ‘Marvin Wanted More’, about a greedy sheep.

Catherine – who allowed the children at the opening to refer to her as ‘Kate’ – was given a tour of the Magic Garden, which includes its own secret grotto and a 25ft red dragon.

The duchess then told the children that little George would probably be a "bit scared" of the smoke-breathing creature but she expected he would "love it" all the same.

Princess Charlotte given $48k rattle for first birthday

Princess Charlotte was gifted a $48,000 white gold rattle to celebrate her first birthday.

The daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge turned a year old on Monday (02.05.16) and was gifted an 18k white gold rattle, which had been studded with diamonds, rubies and sapphires by the Natural Sapphire Company.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said: "The couple have taken a number of gifts into their home, some gifts are stored within the Royal Household, and some gifts were donated to organisations which could make good use of them."

Elsewhere on the list of gifts given to the Princess over the last year, US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are recorded as having given her a jigsaw puzzle and a soft toy version of their dog Bo, whilst Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron gave her a copy of Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bought Princess Charlotte a snowsuit and a book and also made a donation of around $80,000 to Immunize Canada, which promotes vaccine usage, in her name.

Her grandfather Prince Charles got her a willow rattle made by Irish basketmaker Ciaran Hogan, whilst her aunt Pippa Middleton gifted her biodegradable diapers, which are made from natural cloth.

Meanwhile, during the royal family’s trips around the world, the country’s officials have, too, been offering gifts for the royal princess.

On their most recent visit to the Kingdom of Bhutan, King Jigme and Queen Jetsun gave Prince William and Duchess Catherine matching coats for Princess Charlotte and her older brother Prince George, two whilst the Prime Minister of New Zealand offered the royals some teddy bears, baby blankets and shoes all made from Stansborough wool, brought back to the United Kingdom by Prince Harry.

The Australian government opted for a similar gift – a cot blanket made from Tasmanian merino wool.

During their visit to the United Kingdom last year, China’s President Xi Jinping and his wife Madame Peng Liyuan offered Princess Charlotte a set of silk figurines, which depict the Chinese novel ‘Dream of the Red Chamber’.
