Koodo, Fido still offer $65/20GB promo plan slated to end July 4th

Back in mid-June, Koodo, Fido, and Virgin Plus rolled out a promotion that added 5GB of extra monthly data onto each provider’s respective $65/mo 15GB plan, bringing it up to 20GB of monthly data. At the time, all three providers listed the promo as running until July 4th, but only Bell’s Virgin Plus has held to that.

As of July 5th, Virgin Plus no longer lists the $65/20GB promo on its website — instead, it’s back to the $65/mo 15GB plan the provider previously offered.

Virgin Plus $65/15GB plan as of July 5th

Meanwhile, Rogers’ Fido and Telus’ Koodo have removed the July 4th end date from their $65/mo 20GB promotional plans. Both still list the plan as a “limited time offer,” but there’s no longer an end date. In other words, if you wanted to grab this plan and haven’t, now’s probably a good time to get it since it’s not clear how much longer it’ll be available.

Moreover, Koodo and Fido still offer $55/8GB plans, while Virgin Plus does not. These plans aren’t new, but Koodo has listed its $55/8GB option as a “promotion” since discounting it by $1 in May.

Anyway, if you’re looking to get a little extra data for your dollar, now might be the last good chance to get the $65/20GB promo before it’s gone.

Virgin Plus adds February 22 end date for $58/15GB plan

Bell flanker brand Virgin Plus added an end date for its promotional $58/mo 15GB mobile plan.

If you spend much time on MobileSyrup, you’ve likely seen some of the ongoing $58/15GB saga. In short, the Big Three flanker brands, Koodo, Fido and Virgin Plus, all have offered $58/10GB plans with a 5GB data bonus since about mid-January.

So far, Koodo and Fido have both clearly labelled their plans as limited-time offers, with Fido even slapping a date on its version. However, after removing the plan on February 17th, Fido brought it back a few days later.

Virgin Plus, which has consistently listed the $58/15GB promo plan as a limited-time offer, now lists February 22nd, 2022 as the end date for the offer. It remains to be seen whether Virgin keeps to that end date, or if it re-adds the plan like the others.

At the time of publication, both Fido and Koodo still offered the $58/15GB promo plan. Interestingly, Koodo has removed text from its website that indicates the plan was a limited-time offer. MobileSyrup has reached out to the provider for more details about the change.

Koodo’s $58/15GB promo plan returns just days after being removed

Just two days after removing the $58/15GB promotional plan, Telus flanker brand Koodo re-added the offer to its website.

As before, Koodo’s $58 plan comes with 10GB of data and a bonus 5GB of data. Once again, Koodo lists the plan as a limited-time offer, although it’s unclear how long the promo will stick around (or if it will return after Koodo inevitably removes it). Oddly, Koodo’s website also still lists the $58/10GB version of the plan, although it doesn’t make sense to buy while the 15GB variant is available.

Koodo first added the $58/15GB plan back in January but removed it in February. Rogers’ Fido also offered the plan, removed it, then added it back on February 11th. Bell’s Virgin Plus has the $58/15GB promo as well but hasn’t followed the others in removing and re-adding it.

None of Koodo’s other plans have changed, and the $58/15GB promo is still available for customers who bring their own phone or customers who buy a phone on Koodo’s Tab.

All of Koodo’s plans include call display, voicemail, call waiting, and conference calling. Most of the carrier’s plans — including the $58/15GB promo — also offer unlimited Canada-wide calling and unlimited international messaging.

You can learn more about the plan on Koodo’s website.

Fido brings back $58/15GB promotion after removing it earlier this week

Rogers’ flanker brand Fido brought back the 5GB data bonus for its $58/mo 10GB plan, bringing it up to 15GB of data.

Fido previously offered the plan but removed it on February 7th. Last time, Fido’s website listed an expiry date for the promotion. At the time of publication, Fido’s website didn’t include an end date for the deal.

MobileSyrup has reached out to Fido for more clarification.

As before, the plan costs $58/mo and includes 10GB of data plus a 5GB bonus. It’s not clear if the 5GB bonus will drop off the plan after a period of time, or if it’s a permanent addition. Along with the data, the plan includes unlimited Canada-wide talk and text, picture, and video messaging, voicemail, call display, circle calling, and other Fido perks like access to Fido Xtra and five one-hour chunks of unlimited data use each month.

Fido’s other plans remain unchanged.

Fido’s plans, including the $58/15GB promo, as of Feb. 11, 2022.

Interestingly, Fido brought back the $58/15GB plan just after Telus’ flanker brand Koodo downgraded its $58/15GB promo plan back to $58/10GB. At the time of publication, Koodo still offered the 10GB version of the plan. Bell’s Virgin Plus, on the other hand, hasn’t yet removed its limited-time $58/15GB plan — it’s still available now.
