Where to stream Rian Johnson’s Poker Face series in Canada

Hot off his acclaimed Glass Onion, writer-director Rian Johnson has a new mystery series called Poker Face.

Premiering on January 26th and starring Russian Doll‘s Natasha Lyonne, Poker Face follows a woman who has the uncanny ability to detect when people are lying, which she uses to solve strange crimes.

Following a “mystery of the week” format, the series also stars Benjamin Bratt (Star), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days of Summer), Adrian Brody (The Pianist), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), recent Oscar nominees Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All At Once) and Hong Chau (The Whale) and more.

In Canada, watching Poker Face is a little unorthodox. Since it’s exclusive to the U.S.-only Peacock series, Canadians will actually need to sign up to Rogers’ Citytv+ service. This is available as a $4.99/month Amazon Prime Video channel, with a free 30-day trial to start.

Laura Dern dubs Carrie Fisher a goddess on anniversary of death

Laura Dern has paid tribute to "goddess" Carrie Fisher on the anniversary of her death.

The ‘Star Wars’ actress sadly passed away on December 27th 2016 at the age of 60, and to mark the one-year anniversary since her shock passing, Laura took to Instagram to honour the "icon and truth-teller."

Laura, 50, posted a picture of Carrie as Princess Leia in the sci-fi franchise and wrote: "To a goddess, an icon, and a truth-teller. The deepest kind of inspiration. Thinking today of the privilege of knowing you. (sic)"

The ‘Jurassic Park’ actress isn’t the first person to share fond memories of Carrie either, as her ‘Star Wars’ co-star Mark Hamill took to social media earlier in the day to claim the late actress will "always be with us".

He wrote: "No one’s ever really gone… #AlwaysWithUs #CarrieOnForever (sic)"

And Carrie’s 25-year-old daughter Billie Lourd – whom she had with Bryan Lourd – also posted a sweet tribute on Instagram, where she shared a number of photos of the Northern Lights.

She wrote: "My momby had an otherworldly obsession with the northern lights, but I never got to see them with her. We journeyed to northern Norway to see if we might "see the heavens lift up her dark skirts and flash her dazzling privates across [our] unworthy irises". And she did. I love you times infinity. (sic)"

Carrie made her last outing as the iconic General Leia Organa in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ – the eighth instalment of the hit sci-fi franchise.

Although she had shot all the scenes for ‘The Last Jedi’, filmmaker Rian Johnson admitted he was unsure about whether to change the movie’s plot following her passing as she would no longer be able to be part of ‘Episode IX’.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Johnson said: "That was the very first conversation I had with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy after we came back, after New Year’s.

"I kind of looked through the footage. That was the very first question. I felt really strongly that what we have here is so beautiful and the way that the character develops, the way it’s paid off, and not only that, the horror of trying to manufacture something that – I don’t even know what it would have been, but something for the end of this movie that leaves it in a place where the transition is easier, the idea of, ‘Oh God, how would you fake something like that and how would it not be terrible?"

Mark Hamill: Life isn’t easy without Carrie Fisher

Mark Hamill has admitted his life "has not been easy" in the wake of Carrie Fisher’s passing.

The iconic actress passed away almost exactly one year ago on December 27 2016 at the age of 60, and her ‘Star Wars’ co-star Mark – who plays Luke Skywalker alongside Carrie’s Leia Organa in the popular sci-fi franchise – has admitted things have been particularly tough since her death.

He said: "I’m selfishly mad that she’s not here to make me laugh. But I’m also grateful for all that she was able to give us while she was here. It has not been easy."

Mark, 66, spoke to People magazine as part of their special on the upcoming eighth instalment of the franchise ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’, which marks Carrie’s final outing as the Resistance general in scenes filmed prior to her passing.

In their article, the publication also spoke to franchise newcomer John Boyega – who plays Finn – who joked that he failed his diet because Carrie had told him to "take some chocolate bars" from her stash in the fridge.

He said: "I was on a strict diet during ‘Episode VIII’, and she was like, ‘Kid, get into that fridge and take some chocolate bars. I have many there.’ And I did. I failed my diet because Carrie Fisher told me to. And it [felt] great."

And the movie’s director Rian Johnson has admitted that Carrie’s performance in the movie is "very powerful", as no-one on set was aware it was the last time they would work with the star.

He said: "She was constantly pitching one-liners. I would sit down with her for an hour and come back with like, 300 crazy wordplay puns written in my notebook. Then on set, she really gave a beautiful, complete performance.

"It’s very obvious we didn’t know this was going to be the last time we’d see Leia in these movies. That said, I find it very powerful when I see her in this film."

Daisy Ridley shows royals around Star Wars set

Daisy Ridley showed Princes William and Harry around the ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ set today (19.04.16).
The 24-year-old actress – who made her debut as Rey in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ last year – and her co-star Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the sci-fi franchise, showed the royal brothers around the filming area at Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire, south west England.
The siblings took in several of the movie’s props, including Daisy’s head cast, which is used for scenes in the movie, and seemed to enjoy themselves as they battled with lightsabers from the motion picture.
Harry was shocked when his weapon turned red and jokingly asked William: "Why do I always have to be the baddie?"
He then put on a scary voice and joked: "Come on, let’s dance."
William replied: "We can do this later outside."
Harry came face to face with legendary Wookiee warrior Chewbacca who embraced the flame-haired royal, while William met droid BB-8.
The official Kensington Palace Twitter account posted pictures of pair with their new pals, writing: "Prince Harry has made a new friend…
"…and so has The Duke! (sic)"
William and Harry also chatted to ‘Episode VIII’ star John Boyega (Finn) and director Rian Johnson on the film set.
Mark admitted earlier in the day that he was looking forward to meeting the princes to ask whether his character could be classed as a prince because he is the twin brother of Princess Leia, who is portrayed by Carrie Fisher in the movies.
He tweeted: "Meeting #Royals William & Harry! Finally- a chance to get an informed answer on whether being Leia’s brother makes me a Prince. #LordLuke (sic)"
Following the tour, William and Harry thanked the cast and crew for showing them round.
A tweeted on the Kensington Palace Twitter read: "Thank you @starwars for a fantastic day @PinewoodStudios! (sic)"
