Where to stream every Rocky movie in Canada before Creed III

Can you believe that Rocky is nearly 50 years old?

Since 1976, the iconic Sylvester Stallone series about an underdog boxer in Philadelphia has been going strong across eight movies. A ninth, Creed III, is set to release on March 3rd, although it will be the first without Stallone’s Rocky Balboa.

Naturally, a new movie in such a storied franchise might have you wanting to revisit the classics. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up where Canadians can stream the entire Rocky series — the six Stallone-led films and the two Michael B. Jordan-led entries.

  • Rocky (1976) — Amazon Prime Video via MGM (a $3.99/month channel add-on), Crave
  • Rocky II (1979) — Amazon Prime Video via MGM, Crave
  • Rocky III (1982) — Amazon Prime Video via MGM, Crave
  • Rocky IV (1985) — Amazon Prime Video via MGM, Crave
  • Rocky V (1990) — Amazon Prime Video via AMC+ (an $8.99/month channel add-on) or MGM, Crave
  • Rocky Balboa (2006) — Amazon Prime Video via AMC+, Crave
  • Creed (2015) — Amazon Prime Video
  • Creed II (2018) — Amazon Prime Video

An Amazon Prime subscription costs $99/year and includes Prime Video, while a Crave subscription is priced at $19.99/month.

It’s worth noting that Rocky IV, one of the series’ less popular entries, received a Director’s Cut from Stallone that made more well-received changes. This version of the movie, titled Rocky IV: Rocky vs. Drago, isn’t on any subscription video on demand (SVOD) services like Crave, but you can rent it on PVOD platforms like iTunes and Google Play.

Creed III, meanwhile, is notable for being the directorial debut of Michael B. Jordan, who also stars as Adonis Creed, son of Rocky’s late friend Apollo (Carl Weathers). Creed III also features the return of Tessa Thompson as Adonis’ partner, Bianca, and series newcomer Jonathan Majors as Adonis’ old friend with a score to settle, Damian Anderson.

Arnold Schwarzenegger praises Sylvester Stallone

Arnold Schwarzenegger has reassured Sylvester Stallone he is a ”winner” following his friend’s surprise failure to win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar.

The 69-year-old actor had been tipped to take home the accolade for his role in ‘Creed’ last night (02.28.16) but ‘Bridge of Spies’ star Mark Rylance was a shock winner, prompting a mixture of cheers and stunned silence from the audience at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles when his name was read out.

And now the former Governor of California has spoken up in support of his ‘Expendables’ co-star, insisting he is ”the best”.

In an Instagram video, Schwarzenegger said: ”Sly, no matter what they say, remember, to me you are the best.

”You were the winner, I’m proud of you.”

The ‘Terminator’ actor wasn’t the only star surprised by the ‘Bridge of Spies’ actor’s victory.

Mia Farrow tweeted: ”Mark Rylance is wonderful!! I just assumed Sylvester Stallone would win.”

Sylvester Stallone savoring Oscar nomination

Sylvester Stallone doesn’t have many ”really special moments” left.

The 69-year-old actor is delighted to be nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the upcoming Academy Awards for his role in ‘Creed’ and is savoring his first recognition at the prestigious ceremony since 1977.

He said: ”This is a really special moment in my life because there are not that many moments left. You know they are really getting very special.”

But Sylvester admitted he almost turned down the role in the ‘Rocky’ revival movie.

He explained to Robin Roberts for the ABC News special ‘Journey to the Oscars’: ”I never wanted to do this movie. I thought sick Rocky is exactly what is so counter-intuitive to what the optimistic aspect of what Rocky really is designed for … If you’re afraid of something, that’s the commitment of the artist. That’s his duty to pursue the unknown, to go someplace where he’s literally at odds with himself.”

Despite his years of acting success, the veteran star struggled in the early days of his career, with his lowest point coming when he was turned down as an extra in iconic movie ‘The Godfather’.

He laughed: ”I couldn’t even get cast as an Italian. I’ll never forget, there’s a party scene – it’s 300 guests! They said no. I said, ‘What part of me didn’t pass the Italian identification aspect?’ ”

But instead of giving up, he decided to pen his own screenplay and wrote the script for ‘Rocky’ in less than four days, before refusing to sell it unless he could star in the title role.

The movie went on to be nominated for 10 prizes at the 1977 Academy Awards, scoring wins in the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Film Editing categories.

The Klitschko brothers will co-produce the musical with Stallone and train the main actors in the art of boxing. Wladimir said he and his brother had adored the films as boys.
