Minnesota Wild release discouraging injury update

The Minnesota Wild were spanked by the Dallas Stars in Game 2 of their opening round postseason series, surrendering seven goals over the course of the 7-3 loss. The Wild and Stars are now tied at 1-1, with the series having shifted back up north to St. Paul for Games 3 and 4.

The unfortunate news is that forward Joel Eriksson Ek, who hasn’t played since suffering an injury on April 6, isn’t expected to be able to suit up tonight. Meanwhile, forward Ryan Hartman isn’t expected to be able to play either. He was also absent from Game 2 after playing the role of hero with the overtime game-winning goal in Game 1 thanks to a lower-body injury.

“Whoever is in our lineup tonight regardless we need to play better than we did in Game 2,” Wild head coach Dean Evason said, “and we’re looking forward to doing that.”

“All positions are important, clearly,” Evason said. “But when you have your arguably 1-2 center icemen out, it’s difficult, right? There’s a lot to make up there. Dallas is extremely strong down the middle and they have a lot of like we do, too, we have a lot of wingers who can play center and take faceoffs as well.

“They have a lot of people there who make it difficult for us when we don’t have two of our guys up the middle.”

The good news is that former Stars defenseman John Klingberg is slated to return to the Wild lineup; it will be his series debut after having been injured this weekend in practice.

Minnesota Wild to get major boost ahead of Game 3

The Minnesota Wild are looking to get back on track tonight when they bring in the rival Dallas Stars for Game 3 of their opening round Stanley Cup Playoffs series into the friendly confines of Xcel Energy Center.

And while it was thought that the team would continue to be shorthanded as they had been through the first two games, there’s some good news to be shared. Forwards Joel Eriksson-Ek, who has been absent since April 6, along with Ryan Hartman, who missed Game 2 with a lower body injury, are both on the ice for the pre-game warmup.

Additionally, former Stars defenseman John Klingberg, who has yet to play so far in the postseason, is taking part in the warmup as well.

Ryan Hartman shocks Stars with 2OT winner

The Minnesota Wild have upset the Dallas Stars in the opening game of their first round Stanley Cup Playoffs series, and it’s thanks to a player who appeared as though he would have to leave the game due to injury.

Forward Ryan Hartman, who was seen visibly laboring on the bench during overtime with television commentators expressing doubt as to whether or not he could even return to action, proved them all wrong by burying the game winning goal at 16:20 of double overtime:

NHL suspends Wild’s Ryan Hartman with one game left on the calendar!

The NHL’ Player Safety department has just announced that Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman has been suspended for one game for Interference against Winnipeg’s Nikolaj Ehlers.

The good news? He won’t miss any time during the postseason as the Wild play their last game of the regular calendar against the Predators in Nashville on Thursday. Hartman will therefore only miss this contest.

The hit in question took place during Tuesday night’s game in which the Jets came out on top, 3-1. In the final minute of the third frame,Hartman threw an open-ice hit at Ehlers that sparked an ugly fight with Ryan Reaves and Adam Lowry with less than 30 seconds to play. Hartman received four minutes of penalties on the play – two for interference and a subsequent two for roughing.

This is the second suspension of Hartman’s career. He was suspended one game in 2019 as a member of the Nashville Predators for a hit on Colorado Avalanche forward Carl Soderberg.

Hartman is currently in his ninth NHL season and fourth with the Wild. In 59 games this season, he has 15 goals and 22 assists.

Pending first suspension for the playoffs!

It was an ugly finish between the Winnipeg Jets and the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night, one that could lead to a suspension that could stretch into the postseason.

In a game that could have been a playoff contest, thins got ugly down the stretch with Jets head coach Rick Bowness and Wild coach Dean Evason were even jawing at each other.

However, what caught the attention of the NHL’ Player Safety department was Wild forward Ryan Hartman levelled Nikolaj Ehlers with an open-ice, shoulder-to-shoulder hit after Ehlers went after superstar Kirill Kaprizov, who was taunted all night long by fourth-liner Saku Maenalanen. Hart Hartman drew a double minor for roughing and interference, but on Wednesday morning, he was informed that he will have a hearing lately today for Interference against Ehlers.

The Wild only has a game to play, at Nashville on Thursday night, and if Hartman is suspended to more than one contest, it will have to miss some playoff time.

It will be determined later today.

Ryan Hartman gets the last laugh on Jordan Binnington.

The St. Louis Blues and the Minnesota Wild have developed quite the personal rivalry this season, with that rivalry being centered around Minnesota Wild veteran forward Ryan Hartman and St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington.

It wouldn’t be an understatement to suggest that there is some bad blood between the two men, especially after the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety suspended Binnington just last month for striking Hartman in the face with his blocker.

On Saturday night it would be Hartman’s turn to exact a measure of revenge on his rival, and he did so in spectacular fashion when he got the chance to mock Binnington after scoring a shorthanded goal on the Blues goaltender.

Hartman would create a turnover in the neutral zone which in turn cause Binnington to come charging out of his net in the hopes of stopping Hartman with a poke check. The crafty Wild veteran got to the puck first though and managed to avoid the contact from Binnington, giving him a clear path to the net. Hartman would not only bury the shorthanded goal as Binnington was forced to watch on, but he even wagged his finger in disapproval at the Blues goaltender after doing so.

To add insult to injury, Hartman would create another turnover in the neutral zone moments later which also resulted in another goal from the Wild.
