Samsung Galaxy S22 series and Tab S8 series U.S. prices leak

With an imminent launch, leaks about the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 series keep popping up.

Samsung leaker @chunvn8888 claims that the starting USD price is $899 ($1,123 CAD).

The S21 started at $1,129.99, so it seems like much won’t change for us in Canada by this pricing. However, the S21 was $799 USD, so Samsung may raise the price in Canada like it did in the US.

Alongside the S22 prices, we’re also getting a look at the Tab S8 series, which starts at under $850 USD ($1,063 CAD). In Canada, the Tab S7 starts at $879, so we might be in for another price increase. However, we should take this leak with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed until Samsung officially releases the device.

According to a recent leak, Samsung may unveil the Galaxy S22 and Tab S8 series on February 8th.

Samsung reportedly launching another Galaxy S22 set with a new model number

Samsung seems to be making three variants S22 series variants, like legitimately nine phones: three S22 Ultras, three S22+’ and three S22 phones, according to SamMobile.

Two sets of S series handsets isn’t uncommon. Typically, Samsung releases Exynos and Qualcomm models — Exynos for Korean Galaxy S22 devices and Qualcomm for Canada and the U.S. These phones are separated by model numbers that end in “U,” “B,” and “N.” However, the folks at SamMobile have now spotted an S22 trio that ends with the letter “E” in the model number.

Samsung has never had a model number that ends with “E” for a product it has released, but it has used it for the unreleased Galaxy S21 FE, according to the FCC.

The writers at Galaxy Club suspect that this model number could be used for handset variants for regions such as Africa, Asia and India, but it’s unclear. It’s also unclear what chipset these S22 variants will sport. It’s possible that some African and Asian markets will now get Qualcomm-chipped phones.

At this point, there’s no telling why Samsung is releasing this third set of handsets, but the South Korean company will likely launch the handset sometime in January or February next year.

Alleged information about Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series surfaces online

Some of Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra specs have seemingly leaked online, showing off a bit more details about the upcoming smartphone.

The phone will reportedly sport an improved 1/1.33-inch 0.8µm 108MP ISOCELL HM3 sensor over what’s found on the Galaxy S2 Ultra. As well, it’s said to feature an f/1.8 aperture, 85-degree field of view and a 12-megapixel 1/2.55-inch ultra-wide sensor from Sony with a 1.4µm pixel pitch and an f/2.2 aperture.

This phone will also include a periscope zoom camera with two new 1/3.52-inch Sony sensors, which are smaller than the S21 Ultra’s 1/3.24-inch sensors. Additionally, the handset will sport a 10x optical zoom camera with a 10-megapixel shooter with an f/4.9 aperture and an 11-degree field of view, and another telephoto shooter with 3x zoom, a 1/3.52-inch sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and a 36-degree field of view.

This information was shared by the well-known leaker, Ice Universe.

Ice Universe also posted about the S22 and S22+’ design elements. According to the leak, the phones will offer a design similar to the iPhone 13 without a notch. The handset’s front and rear are flat and symmetrical.

We haven’t seen many renders of the Galaxy S22 or S22+ surface online, but we have seen renders of the S22 Ultra. The phones are likely to launch in either January or February next year.

Video shows off Samsung Galaxy S22+ concept design

A concept design for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S22+ has surfaced online.

This concept smartphone design comes from the Technizo Concept YouTube channel, which partnered with LetsGoDigitalIt’s worth noting that this is only a concept and not a leak, and it’s based on the Galaxy S21 series.

The design resembles the S21 series and sports a very similar rear-facing camera setup and design. The camera sensors on this handset seem quite large, however. On the front the phone sports a hole-punch front camera with small bezels.

The device has a slight back curve and all its keys are on the right-hand side, including the power button and volume rocker. The concept video also shows the phone in some beautiful colours — hopefully the actual S22+ ships with similar colour options.

Rumours indicate that the phone features a 50-megapixel main shooter, a 12-megapixel ultrawide and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. The phone is also expected to feature a 4,500mAh battery and a 45W fast wired charging.

Further, the phone is expected to feature Samsung’s or Qualcomm’s next-gen processors.

Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ rumoured to feature 50-megapixel sensor, hole-punch display

Samsung’s Galaxy S22 is set to launch early next year and is expected to feature a significant camera upgrade.

Ice Universe, a well-known Samsung leaker, has posted some of the S22 and S22+’s purported specs. According to the leak, Samsung’s devices are set to use a GN5 camera sensor, which means both smartphones will offer a 50-megapixel camera sensor. This is a huge upgrade as the S21 only offered a 12-megapixel primary shooter. It’s possible that Samsung might use the GN5 for another camera lens, like to replace its 64-megapixel telephoto, but that seems very unlikely.

The GN5 sensor supports video up to 8K at 30fps and 12.5-megapixel output with 4-in-1 pixel binning.

Additionally, Ice claims that the S22 won’t use an Under Display Camera (UDC), but will stick with the hole-punch display from previous years.

Furthermore, Ice Universe indicates that the S22 will apparently feature 45W charging speeds with USB-C. The Galaxy Note 10+ offered this charging speed, but Samsung’s charging speeds are typically limited to 25W. The report also states that the S22 Ultra will be the only one with this higher charging speed.

Lastly, Ice says that the Exynos 2200 processor on Samsung’s device will feature a 1× Cortex-X2 core at 2.9GHz with 3 at 2.8GHz and 4 at 2.2GHz. The AMD GPU, meanwhile, will have a frequency of 1250 MHz, though only on the S22 Ultra.
