Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 receives One UI 4.1.1 update with Android 12L in Canada

Thanks to a MobileSyrup reader, we’ve learned that the Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra are now getting the One UI 4.1.1 update that includes Android 12L in Canada.

The update will allow the Tab S8 devices to have some of the same features as the Galaxy Fold 4 that’s currently on One UI 4.1.1. Some of these features include the taskbar that now appears at the bottom of the screen for quicker navigation. This was something I loved about the Fold 4.

One UI 4.1.1 also includes the Google Duo live sharing feature, so you can share photos in the gallery, your browser screen and collaborate on Samsung Notes, all while you’re on a video call. You’ll be able to take and edit photos in RAW. Additionally, it includes an object eraser, so you can remove shadows or distracting objects in the background. There’s also a Grammarly-powered keyboard to ensure that your writing has correct grammar and more.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series and Tab S8 series U.S. prices leak

With an imminent launch, leaks about the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 series keep popping up.

Samsung leaker @chunvn8888 claims that the starting USD price is $899 ($1,123 CAD).

The S21 started at $1,129.99, so it seems like much won’t change for us in Canada by this pricing. However, the S21 was $799 USD, so Samsung may raise the price in Canada like it did in the US.

Alongside the S22 prices, we’re also getting a look at the Tab S8 series, which starts at under $850 USD ($1,063 CAD). In Canada, the Tab S7 starts at $879, so we might be in for another price increase. However, we should take this leak with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed until Samsung officially releases the device.

According to a recent leak, Samsung may unveil the Galaxy S22 and Tab S8 series on February 8th.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8+ and Tab S8 Ultra renders leak online

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S8 series has been leaked online by the mighty Evan Blass (@evleaks). 

These leaks show the difference between all three models of the device. It seems the Tab S8 Ultra has the slimmest bezels and even has a notch for its front-facing camera. Reportedly, the Ultra variant will have limited production.

If the Tab S8 has similar sizing to its predecessors, the Tab S8 will sport an 11-inch display, and the Tab S8+ will feature a 12.4-inch screen. Rumour has it the Tab S8 Ultra will sport a massive 14-inch display, which will likely be too large for many.

It’s not exactly clear when Samsung will launch these new tablets, but the devices may launch alongside the S22 series in January or February.
