Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 2 Pro appear on Canada’s Radio Equipment List

At Samsung’s August 10th Galaxy Unpacked event, we expect the tech giant to reveal the Fold 4, Flip 4, Watch 5, Watch 5 Pro and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Ahead of the event, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro wireless earbuds have appeared on Canada’s Radio Equipment List (REL).

The REL doesn’t offer any more information except its Hardware Version Identification Number, the product name, the certification number and the day it was approved, listed as June 16th and 17th (Samsung submitted both the right and left earbud of the Buds 2 Pro). All wirelesss devices sold in Canada need to be submitted to the REL.

Alleged Galaxy Buds 2 Pro renders were previously shared online. The Galaxy Buds Pro 2 aren’t too different from their predecessor in terms of design. These ones will come in three colourways, including ‘White,’ ‘Graphite’ and ‘Bora Purple,’ which will likely match the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Specifications for the earbuds have yet to leak or be revealed.

We expect to see Samsung’s other upcoming products approved for the REL later this month or early next month.

Samsung’s upcoming foldables are the ultimate tools for productivity and self-expression, exec says

August 10th is the official launch date for Samsung’s next set of foldable smartphones, and the company’s president and head of MX Business says they’re a sight to behold

“I can’t wait to show you the potential of our new Samsung Galaxy foldables as the ultimate tool for both productivity and self-expression,” TM Roh wrote in a blog post about the Galaxy Fold 4 and Flip 4 smartphones.

“At our upcoming Unpacked on August 10th, you’ll see that the impact of our innovation is not only about what technology can do. It’s about what you can do. We’ve once again taken our inspiration from the most important source — Galaxy users — to push the limits of what’s possible.”

Looking back on the Fold 3 and Flip 3, Roh said 70 percent of Galaxy foldable users switched to Flip 3. The company shipped 10 million foldable devices worldwide in 2021, increasing the figure by 300 percent since 2020.

Renders leaked earlier this month show the Galaxy Flip 4 could share many similarities with its predecessor. However, the device does appear to have more pronounced volume buttons and could support 8GB RAM with 128/256Gb storage options.

Samsung finally confirms August 10th ‘Unpacked’ event

It looks like the reveal of Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 4 and Flip 4 are just around the corner.

After weeks of rumours and, most recently, a very real-looking leak from Evan Blass and a tease from Samsung, we finally have confirmation from Samsung regarding the tech giant’s upcoming August 10th keynote. The event’s teaser image hints that it will be focused on its upcoming foldable smartphones, just like the stream of recent rumours suggest.

The South Korean tech giant’s next ‘Unpacked’ event is set to stream at 9am ET/6am PT via Samsung’s website and its YouTube channel.

At the event, Samsung is expected to reveal its Galaxy Z Fold 4  and Z Flip 4, alongside the Galaxy Watch 5/Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and Galaxy Buds Pro 2 wireless earbuds.

According to rumours, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 4 will be available in ‘Phantom Black,’ ‘Green’ and ‘Beige,’ while the Galaxy Flip 4 will release in ‘Graphite,’ ‘Bora Purple,’ ‘Pink Gold’ and ‘Blue.’ Both devices will release on August 26th.

Z Fold 4 specs include an inner 7.6-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, coupled with a 6.2-inch 120 AMOLED inner screen. Other rumours mention Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 12GB/16GB of RAM, 256GB/512GB of storage, a 10-megapixel outer camera, a 16-megapixel inner shooter and a 50-megapixel lens coupled with two additional 12-megapixel cameras.

On the other hand, the Flip 4 is rumoured to feature a 6.7-inch sAMOLED 120Hz screen, a 2.1-inch sAMOLED lens, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, 8GB of RAM, 128GB/256GB of storage. On the camera side, the Flip 4 is rumoured to feature two 12-megapixel main cameras and one 10-megapixel inner shooter.

Make sure to check out all of our coverage surrounding Samsung’s foldable Unpacked event on August 10th.

Samsung to reportedly ditch Galaxy S22 FE so it can make more S22 Ultras

A couple of weeks ago, SamMobile pointed out that Samsung might have plans to cancel the Galaxy S22 FE, but now the Dutch-based publication is expanding on why the tech giant plans to make this change.

According to SamMobileone of the company’s goals is to increase sales of its top-of-the-line flagship, the S22 Ultra. Samsung reportedly plans to manufacture three million Galaxy S22 FE units this year, but now that plan has changed.

Samsung had to decide whether to make more S22 Ultras that are already selling well or launch the S22 FE. While not directly mentioned, it’s likely that Samsung also considered its high number of unsold phones in the decision.

Back in June, reports indicated Samsung was sitting on 50 million unsold phones, mostly comprised of its lower-cost Galaxy A-series. Although the S22 FE is not part of the A-series, it may compete with some of those smartphones and hinder efforts to clear out that inventory.

However, SamMobile has heard that the South Korean phone maker will launch the Galaxy S23 FE in 2023. It aims to sell three million units of the device when it launches in the second half of 2023. However, plans can change, so only time will tell.

If you want to learn more about the S22 Ultra, check out my review of the smartphone.

Samsung teases next Unpacked event for August 10

Samsung has finally started teasing August’s Unpacked event on its Twitter. The tweet has a cryptic puzzle that apparently confirms the August 10th launch date.

The company has posted three images on its Twitter account. The first image offers a five-by-six grid with letters, numbers, and symbols that look like a complete jumbled mess. The second is also a five-by-six grid but just offers coloured dots. The final image reads “When will something greater arrive?” followed by six coloured dots that match some from the second image.

When you overlay the second and first images and use the six coloured dots from the last image, you’ll see the date 081022, signifying that the Unpacked will be on August 10th. The Verge has a good composition of how it looks.

This is the first time Samsung has made any public teases about the August Unpacked event. The August 10th date was previously leaked by Jon Prosser and Evan Blass, so this is what we’ve been expecting.

We expect to see the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and maybe even the Galaxy Buds2 Pro at this upcoming event.

Samsung releases new photo upscaling ‘Galaxy Enhanced-X’ app

Samsung has added a new app to the Galaxy Store called ‘Galaxy Enhanced-X’, an AI-based photo upscaler.

After you import an image, you’ll see edit options like HDR, Brighten, Fix Blur and Sharpen. There’s also Fix More, Remove reflection, face enhancements and portrait mode edits. To be fair, several other apps are also capable of making similar edits, including Adobe Photoshop Express and even lesser-known apps like Snapseed, so it’s unclear why Samsung opted to release Galaxy Enhanced-X now.

The Galaxy Enhanced-X app also lets users remove unwanted blur/reflections, sharpen/upscale resolution, improve dynamic range and brighten photos captured in low-light conditions. It’s worth noting that when you edit an image using Galaxy Enhancer-X app, both the original and enhanced photo in JPEG format.

The image editing app is compatible with Android 10 and can run on the Galaxy S9 series, Note 9 series, S10 series, S20 series, Note 20, S21 series, Galaxy S22 Ultra, S22+ and the Fold 3 series.

Galaxy Enhanced-X is available in Samsung’s Galaxy Store.

Samsung foldable Unpacked event rumoured for August 10

Samsung’s Unpacked event is set for August 10th, 2022, according to a new blurred image of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable from established leaker Evan Blass.

Alongside the Z Flip 4, Samsung is also expected to show off the Fold 4, Galaxy Watch 5 and the 5 Pro.

The Fold 4 is expected to feature a 7.6-inch AMOLED 120HZ refresh rate inner display, a 6.2-inch Cover screen with 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage and a camera setup that boasts a 50-megapixel primary shooter.

The Flip 4  is expected to sport a 6.7-inch 120Hz refresh inner screen, 2.1-inch outer display, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and a camera setup that features two 12-megapixel sensors.

Additionally, renders of the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro appeared online, showcasing a similar design to previous models. Except this Pro variant will be replacing the “Classic” version of the watches and will lose its rotating bezel.

Previously, Jon Prosser indicated that the event would happen on August 10th and the phones would release on August 26th.

You can see more renders of what the Flip 4 is expected to look like here.

New renders show off the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 ahead of official announcement

Samsung has yet to officially announce its new Galaxy Z Flip 4, but new unofficial CAD-based renders have emerged, showing us what the device might look like.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 has been a known quantity for a few months. Unofficial specs have pointed out that the device may share many similar features to its predecessor. Based on all the information gleaned from reports, the device isn’t bound to redefine Samsung’s foldable line. Looking at the new renders, that notion continues.

The new CAD-derived renders show off the device in its Bora Purple colour variation. There don’t appear to be any stark differences between the Z Flip 4 and the Z Flip 3. However, when looking at the antenna grooves, the upcoming device features darker tones. The volume buttons also look more pronounced. Additionally, the camera array doesn’t appear to be as flush with the rear of the device.

The renders only give a glimpse of the side profile of the device. This, unfortunately, limits what we’re able to take away ahead of Samsung’s reveal.

Turning our attention to internal specs, reports expect the Z Flip 4 to feature a 6.7-inch FHD + sAMOLED display with 120Hz support. The device may support 8GB RAM with 128/256Gb storage options. Additionally, the device is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Samsung is expected to host its Unpacked event in August, where it will likely unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 4, among other devices. Confirmation of the event should arrive within the next couple of weeks.
