Samsung reportedly launching another Galaxy S22 set with a new model number

Samsung seems to be making three variants S22 series variants, like legitimately nine phones: three S22 Ultras, three S22+’ and three S22 phones, according to SamMobile.

Two sets of S series handsets isn’t uncommon. Typically, Samsung releases Exynos and Qualcomm models — Exynos for Korean Galaxy S22 devices and Qualcomm for Canada and the U.S. These phones are separated by model numbers that end in “U,” “B,” and “N.” However, the folks at SamMobile have now spotted an S22 trio that ends with the letter “E” in the model number.

Samsung has never had a model number that ends with “E” for a product it has released, but it has used it for the unreleased Galaxy S21 FE, according to the FCC.

The writers at Galaxy Club suspect that this model number could be used for handset variants for regions such as Africa, Asia and India, but it’s unclear. It’s also unclear what chipset these S22 variants will sport. It’s possible that some African and Asian markets will now get Qualcomm-chipped phones.

At this point, there’s no telling why Samsung is releasing this third set of handsets, but the South Korean company will likely launch the handset sometime in January or February next year.

Samsung teams up with Dr Denim to make Z Flip jeans

Now, this is weird.

Samsung Australia and Dr. Denim have collaborated to release the ‘Z Flip Pocket Denim’ limited edition jeans designed to play off the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s retro form factor.

Interestingly, the jeans feature pockets designed exclusively to fit the Z Flip 3 into their pockets.

Samsung partnered with Dr Denim to remove what it describes as big bulky “unfashionable” pockets, and believes the small, square pockets are the next big trend in jeans.

“Smartphones are often not pocket friendly, so we’ve leveraged Dr Denim’s style credentials to design jeans that shake up the pocket norm and perfectly fit our compact Galaxy Z Flip3. Our Galaxy Z Flip3 users expect the very best in design and pocketability, and what better to accompany our premium phones than the perfect pair of bespoke jeans,” said Hayley Walton, head of brand marketing at Samsung Mobile, in a statement.

The companies plan only to release 450 pairs of Z Flip Pocket Denim jeans sold exclusively in Australia for the astounding price of $1,499 AUD (roughly $1,392 CAD).

Samsung has reportedly started mass producing Galaxy S22 parts

Samsung could reportedly launch its Galaxy S22 as early as January 2022.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 specs leak online

Twitter account OnLeaks has shared some of the first specs for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S8 tablet.

If the leaks are correct, the tablet will feature 11-inch display with a 1600 x 2560 pixel resolution. The leak also indicates that it features an LCD IPS panel, so it looks like Samsung’s 11-inch tablet won’t include the same display as the Tab S7+. That said, it will offer a 120Hz refresh rate.

The tablet is also rumoured to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and an 8,000mAh battery. The battery will charge over 45W connection and offer some form of quick charging.

In terms of cameras, the leak suggests the Tab S8 will feature two shooters on the back with 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. On the front, there’s an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.

The leak also dinciates that the tablet will run Android 11 and is 6.24mm thick.

There’s no mention as to when we might expect the device to release, unfortunately. The last flagship Samsung tablet launched in the summer of 2020, so it’s unclear if this new one will come out soon or if the company plans to drop it next summer.

Since this leak seems pretty comprehensive, I’m leaning towards the tablet being revealed this winter.

Ookla Q3 report names Telus Canada’s fastest mobile operator

Telus has kept its crown as Canada’s fastest mobile operator, according to a slew of new statistics in Ookla’s Q3 Canada Market Report for 2021.

For context, Ookla is the owner and operator of Speedtest.net, a free web service that analyzes your Internet’s performance.

According to data gathered from its speed-tracking tool, Ookla says Telus was the fastest mobile operator in Canada during Q3 2021, with a ‘Speed Score’ of 81.93.

Shaw came out on top as the country’s fastest fixed broadband provider, while the title of fastest 5G went to Bell for its median 5G download speed of 183.39 Mbps, narrowly beating Telus’ 176.38 Mbps.

Meanwhile, Vidéotron kept it steady for yet another fiscal quarter, earning the title of Canada’s most consistent mobile operator in Q3 with a score of 87.4 percent

In terms of geography, Ookla found that Newfoundland and Labrador are Canada’s fastest regions for both fixed broadband and mobile, clocking in a median download speed of 124.22 Mbps

Calgary was named the city with the highest population with the best median fixed broadband download speed (134.33 Mbps), while Halifax won the mobile download speed category (113.10 Mbps).

Finally, the report claims that while Samsung devices earned the fastest combined performance scores in Q3 with a median download speed of 64.14 Mbps, edging out Apple’s 58.12 Mbps, the iPhone 13 Pro Max was the fastest popular device overall with a median download speed of 164.63 Mbps.

Past Ookla reports from 2021 found that Canada is no longer among the top 10 fastest countries for internet speeds, that 5G speeds in Ottawa are middling compared to other capital cities, that Alberta’s Waterton Lakes National Park boasts the fastest download speeds amoung Canada’s national parks, and that SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service performs best in Saskatchewan.

Concepts show off a cool design for Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra

Over the past few days, concept designers have created 3D renders of Samsung’s rumoured Galaxy S22 Ultra, which were shared by the Netherland-based publication LetsGoDigital.

These renders aren’t factory schematic-based, but they are derived from several rumours about the upcoming handset.

The concepts created by Technizo Concept and Concept Creator look nearly the same, but the former design also includes the rumoured Burgundy Red colour variant.

Both designs show off a squared-off S22 Ultra that’s reminiscent of the now-dead Note series. Additionally, the two designs show that the phone will sport housing for the S Pen, unlike last 2021’s S21 Ultra.

Additionally, the concept designers created two separate housings for all of the cameras on the rear of the device. While appealing, this goes against previous CAD-based renderings shared by OnLeaks of the S22 Ultra that showcased a P-shaped rear-facing camera. Concept Creator’s last render also reflects this P-shaped rear-facing camera setup.

Past leaks indicate that the phone will also sport a next-gen Snapdragon processor, a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 5,000mAh battery, up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage and more.

Currently, the leak world is unclear whether Samsung will launch a camera setup with two islands or a P-shape housing, and we probably won’t know for sure until the tech giant officially reveals the S22 series in the first quarter of next year.
