Samuel L. Jackson’s Next Project

Variety reports that Jackson will star in the film, which is an adaptation of the non-fiction novel by Ron Hall, Denver Moore and Lynn Vincent.

The screenplay was adapted by father-son duo Roderick and Bruce Taylor, who penned the script for The Brave One.

Jackson will play Denver Moore, a former prisoner who is homeless and has an unlikely friendship with Ron Hall, an art dealer in Dallas.

Samuel L. Jackson is currently filming The Other Guys with Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson. The film hits theatres on August 6, 2010. The actor will also star in Iron Man 2, opening May 7.

Dwayne Johnson Plans New Film

According to Variety, the three actors have confirmed their participation in the upcoming comedy.

The film follows a team of police officers (Johnson and Jackson) whose success has made them the envy of their colleagues.  Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg will play the jealous cops.

Steve Coogan will play a villain in the flick, and Eva Mendes, Michael Keaton and Damon Wayans, Jr. are also part of the cast.

The film is set for an August 6, 2010 release.

In the meantime, Dwayne Johnson will be starring in Tooth Fairy, opening on January 22, 2010, Samuel L. Jackson stars in Iron Man 2, hitting theatres on May 7, and Steve Coogan will star in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, on February 12, 2010.

Director David Bowers announced that Theron and Jackson will be lending their voices to the animated film Astro Boy.

It is still unknown which characters the two actors will be playing, although we do know that Jackson was already a big fan of the television series.

Young Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland, The Spiderwick Chronicles) will be playing the robot Astro. Nicolas Cage, Kristen Bell, Donald Sutherland and Nathan Lane have already confirmed their participation in the project.

Astro Boy will open in theatres on October 23. Meanwhile, Charlize Theron will be starring in The Road on October 16 and Samuel L. Jackson will be seen in Inglorious Basterds on August 21.

Samuel L. Jackson in Mixed Blood

Variety.com reported that Jackson will be starring as a detective in the film Mixed Blood.

Producers called upon Australia’s Phillip Noyce, who was behind 2002’s The Quiet American, to direct this upcoming independent film.

The story is based on a book of the same name that was written by Roger Smith and adapted to the big screen by Kelly Masterson.

The plot follows an American fugitive who must make terrifying decisions to protect his family while attracting the attention of murderers, kidnappers, corrupt policemen, and a detective played by Jackson.

Shooting is set to begin sometime in early 2010.

First Mickey Rourke Photos from Iron Man 2

USA Today published the first photo of Rourke as his character Whiplash in Iron Man 2.

Whiplash, whose real name is Ivan Vanko, is the nemesis of Iron Man, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). The villainous Russian weapons creator, who works for Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), wears an armoured suit with a similar technology to Iron Man’s get-up, featuring a pacemaker type of device located on his chest. Whiplash runs around with a pair of electrical whips.

While Downey Jr. resumes his role as the main character, Gwyneth Paltrow is set to play Pepper Potts again, while Don Cheadle replaces Terrence Howard for the character James "Rhodey" Rhodes and Scarlett Johansson plays Black Widow. Samuel L. Jackson, Garry Shandling, John Slattery, Kate Mara and Clark Gregg complete the cast.

Iron Man 2 is headed for theatres on May 7, 2010.

Samuel L. Jackson Negotiating with Pirates

Samuel L. Jackson and his production company, Uppity Films, have joined forces with Andras Hamari’s H2O Motion Pictures to acquire the rights to Andrew Mwangura.

Mwangura was a professional negotiator between pirates and the owners of hijacked ships off the coast of Africa.

Jackson would play Mwangura, a journalist and sea engineer who lead the Seafarer’s Assistance Program, a non-profit group that offered humanitarian help to all merchant mariners. Mwangura was not paid for his work as a negotiator, though he earned money as a freelance journalist.

Samuel L. Jackson is currently filming Iron Man 2 in Los Angeles. The release date is set for May 7, 2010. He will also be heard as the narrator of the film Inglorious Basterds, hitting theatres on August 21.

Inglorious Basterds in Cannes

The highly-anticipated Inglorious Basterds, by Quentin Tarantino, may be a contender at the Cannes Film Festival, reports Variety.

Festival organizers invited Tarantino to present his film in competition. The director, who was hoping to open the event with his film, has not made an official comment.

Inglorious Basterds stars Brad Pitt, Samuel L. Jackson, Samm Levine and Mike Myers.

The official lineup for the Cannes Film Festival will be announced on April 23. The event takes place from May 13-24.

Inglorious Basterds is set to open on August 21.

Cast Members Named for Rape: A Love Story

According to Variety, the three actors will begin shooting the project in June.

Based on a story by Joyce Carol Oates, published in 2003, the film will be directed by Harold Becker (Domestic Disturbance) and the screenplay will be written by John Mankiewicz (House).

The story follows a mother (Bello), who is the victim of a brutal gang rape.  Her 12-year-old daughter witnesses the attack.  Luckily, a sympathetic police officer (Jackson) takes her under his wing.

In the meantime, we can next see Maria Bello in the film The Private Lives of Pippa Lee later this year.  Abigail Breslin will star in My Sister’s Keeper, opening on June 26, while Samuel L. Jackson’s next film, Inglorious Basterds, opens in theatres on August 21.

Samuel L. Jackson Plans Next Film

Jackson’s film career is showing no signs of slowing down, as he will be starring in the spy thriller Blown with Jim Caviezel.  Caviezel is best known for playing Jesus in the Mel Gibson flick, The Passion of the Christ.

To be directed by Martha Fiennes (Chromophobia), Blown will follow the story of Will Matlock (Caviezel), an MI5 agent who is trying to stop a terrorist from attacking London.  Jackson will play Julian Lezard, a villainous business man.  

The film will be produced by Shani Hinton, Gereth Wiley, Martha Fiennes and George Tiffin, who also wrote the screenplay.

Jackson’s latest film, Soul Men, is currently in theatres.  He will also star in The Spirit, opening on December 25.

Samuel L. Jackson Joins Inglourious Basterds

Jackson and Maggie Cheung (In the Mood for Love) are in talks to star in the highly anticipated film, Inglourious Basterds, from Quentin Tarantino.

The Playlist reveals that Cheung would play Madam Mimieux, the owner of a movie theatre who takes in Shosanna (Mélanie Laurent), who is being chased by the Nazis.

If Jackson signs the deal, the film will mark the fourth collaboration between Tarantino and the actor.  The men previously worked together on Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and Kill Bill: Vol. 2.

Inglourious Basterds began filming in Germany on October 13 and is expected to reach theatres in June of next year.

In the meantime, we can next see Samuel L. Jackson in Soul Men, opening November 7, and in The Spirit, hitting theatres on December 25.
