Where to stream Scream VI in Canada

Ghostface is back.

Scream VI, the latest entry in the popular, long-running Scream slasher franchise, is now available to watch at home, six weeks after hitting theatres.

Helmed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (2022’s Scream), Scream VI follows Sam (Melissa Barrera), Tara (Jenna Ortega), Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Chad (Mason Gooding) as they leave Woodsboro for New York City, only to encounter a new Ghostface (once again voiced by Roger L. Jackson).

Courteney Cox once again appears as Gale, while Hayden Panettiere reprises her Scream 4 of Kirby. Joining the cast, meanwhile, are Toronto’s Henry Czerny and Brantford, Ontario’s Devyn Nekoda. It’s also worth noting that the film was shot in Montreal.

If you missed Scream VI in theatres or simply want to rewatch the acclaimed gorefest, you’re in luck. The film is now available to stream exclusively on Paramount+ in Canada and elsewhere. Paramount+ costs $9.99/month. It’s worth noting that Wes Craven’s original four Scream movies are also on Paramount+, although the fifth film is only on Netflix.

Scream’s Ghostface can now give you a personalized phone call

If you’ve ever wanted to talk to Ghostface, Paramount has you covered.

To promote this month’s release of Scream VI, the company has launched a new website through which you can give your name and phone number. Shortly after, you’ll receive a call from none other than Ghostface, who will address you by name.

There are a few possible pre-recorded messages to hear, and they’re all voiced by Roger L. Jackson, the long-running voice of the slasher icon. As a nice touch, the call will even say it’s from a New York number as a nod to the upcoming film’s setting.

It’s worth noting, though, that it does work in Canada. I put in my number — a Toronto area code — and got a call from Ghostface within an hour or so.

Ultimately, it’s an amusing promotional campaign, especially since threatening phone calls are such a big part of the Scream franchise.

Scream VI will open in theatres on March 10th. The film features the return of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and stars Melissa Barrera (Sam), Jenna Ortega (Tara), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy) and Mason Gooding (Chad) from last year’s Scream, as well as Scream series veteran Courteney Cox (Gale). Additionally, Hayden Panettiere reprises her Scream 4 role of Kirby.

However, the movie marks the first time that Guelph, Ontario’s Neve Campbell will not return as Sidney due to a pay dispute. On the other hand, we get two Canadian Scream newcomers: Toronto’s Henry Czerny (Ready or Not) and Brantford, Ontario’s Devyn Nekoda (Degrassi).

Where to stream the Scream movies in Canada before Scream (2022)

Ten years after the last Scream movie, Ghostface and the Woodsboro gang are back.

The fifth film, simply titled Scream, is set to hit theatres on January 14th. Notably, it’s the first in the series to not be directed by horror legend Wes Craven, following his passing in 2015. Instead, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not) are helming the new Scream.

Still, the film promises to bring back several Scream veterans, including Guelph, Ontario’s own Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), David Arquette (Dewey Riley), Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) and Roger L. Jackson as the voice of Ghostface. On top of that, early reviews peg the film as showing a deep “reverence” for its predecessors.

With all of that in mind, we’ve rounded up how you can stream the four previous Scream movies ahead of Scream (2022).

Anyway, here’s where to watch the Wes Craven Scream flicks. Basically, Prime members are completely covered, although there are some options if you don’t have the service and/or prefer alternatives:

  • Scream (1996) — Amazon Prime Video (base tier, as well as on premium Super Channel and Starz channels), Crave (Crave + Starz subscription required)
  • Scream 2 (1997) — Amazon Prime Video (base tier, as well as on premium Super Channel and Starz channels), Crave (Crave + Starz subscription required)
  • Scream 3 (2000) — Amazon Prime Video (base tier, as well as on premium Shudder, Super Channel and Starz channels), Crave (Crave + Starz subscription required)
  • Scream 4 (2011) — Amazon Prime Video (base tier, as well as on premium Super Channel channels)

Hopefully, this will be helpful for both fans and newcomers. It should be noted, though, that moviegoers in Ontario and Quebec are out of luck at the moment when it comes to the new Scream, given provincial COVID-related theatre closures. For now, Paramount says the movie will premiere exclusively in Canadian theatres on January 14th in whichever provinces permit them; in other words, no premium video on demand (PVOD) option will be offered.

Scream to release on January 14th in Canadian theatres that are open

Scream (also known as 5cream) will only play in theatres in certain parts of Canada.

According to a tweet from Barry Hertz, The Globe and Mail’s deputy arts editor/film editor, the anticipated horror movie will premiere on January 14th in Canadian theatres that are currently open.

This means that moviegoers in Ontario and Quebec will be out of luck as both provinces’ theatres are entirely closed amid the ongoing COVID-19 Omnicron variant surge.

Further, according to Hertz, the film will not receive an early premium video on demand release (PVOD) on platforms like iTunes and Google Play in these specific regions but will play in Ontario/Quebec when theatres re-open.

Cineplex recently announced that it has temporarily laid off nearly 5,000 part-time employees in Ontario due to the province’s mandated closure of theatres.

Scream takes place 25 years after a streak of murders occurred in the town of Woodsboro, California, with a new killer donning the Ghostface mask and targeting a group of teenagers.

TikTok can now read your text in the voice of Scream’s Ghostface

One of the signature elements of the late Wes Craven’s Scream films is a creepy stranger (‘Ghostface’) playing mind games with a character over the phone.

Now, Ghostface has come to TikTok. Through an official partnership with Paramount, Roger Jackson, the original voice of Ghostface, has lent his voice to TikTok’s text-to-speech feature. This means that you can have the iconic slasher flick villain read your words.

To use the Ghostface voice:

  1. Film your video
  2. Add text
  3. Tap on the text and select the ‘Scream voice’

The Ghostface TikTok voice not only comes right on time for Halloween, but shortly after the release of the trailer for the series’ fifth film, simply titled Scream. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not), Scream follows a new generation of Woodsboro teens as they’re targeted by a new Ghostface.

Notably, Guelph, Ontario’s own Neve Campbell reprises her original Scream series role of Sidney Prescott, while Courteney Cox and David Arquette also return as Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley, respectively. Some of the series newcomers include Jack Quad (The Boys), Jenna Ortega (You) and Dylan Minette (13 Reasons Why).

The new Scream will hit theatres on January 14th, 2022. TikTok, meanwhile, is available on Android and iOS.

Emma Roberts ditches ‘toxic’ friends

Emma Roberts has cleared the ”toxic” people from her life.

The ‘American Horror Story’ star has admitted she has spent the last six months since her 24th birthday making sure to weed out any bad people in her friendship groups.

She said: ”Since I’ve turned 24, I really like cleared out toxic people in my life.

”I only surround myself with people – with work and with friends. People that are going to make me feel confident and make me happy and make me laugh. And so that way, the mean things don’t get to me as much.”

And the 24-year-old beauty is also trying to avoid looking at any mean comments made about her on social media in a bid to feel more positive about herself.

She added to PEOPLE magazine: ”I feel like people think actors aren’t real people and you can just say whatever you want about them and it doesn’t matter.

”I guess it hurts my feelings, so I try not to read that stuff. It makes me more mad when I see it written about my friends or, like, my sister. My sister is 14 and she didn’t want me to post a photo of [us] because she said people were saying mean things about her. That really broke my heart.”

David Arquette thrown out of Justin Bieber’s birthday bash

David Arquette was reportedly thrown out of Justin Bieber’s 21st birthday party after getting into a fracas with the pop star.

The ‘Scream’ actor was among the guests at Justin’s bash which started at Omnia nightclub on Saturday night (14.02.15) and continued until 7am Sunday morning (15.03.15) at the rooftop villa at the Nobu Hotel at Caesars Palace.

The altercation occurred at the after-party, when Justin discovered David was talking badly about him behind his back and had him thrown out, but the actor got back in and made a lunge at the singer before being hurled out of the suite by Justin’s friends.

An eyewitness told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column: ”Justin heard what David had been saying, and threw him out of his suite with the help of a friend, because they didn’t have security up there. Somehow David managed to get back in and rushed at Bieber to take him out. There was a confrontation, then other people got in the way to separate them. David was thrown out again, this time for good.”

Justin was paid $500,000 by Hakkasan Group to host his coming of age celebration at Omnia nightclub and it is believed David – the ex-husband of Courteney Cox – may have been a guest because he is a partner in Hollywood nightspot Bootsy Bellows with the h.wood Group, which was last year acquired by the Hakkasan Group.

Neve Campbell is pregnant

Neve Campbell is pregnant with her second child.

According to Us Weekly magazine, the ‘Scream’ actress is expecting a baby with her boyfriend, ‘Captain America’ actor JJ Feild, with whom she already has a two-year-old son, Caspian.

A source close to the couple told Us Weekly: ”They’ve always wanted more than one child. They want Caspian to have a sibling.”

The 40-year-old star – who also appeared in the television series, ‘Party of Five’ – is notoriously private about her personal life, but has previously spoken about her decision to name her son, Caspian.

Talking on ‘The Talk’ in December 2012, she shared: ”We looked through a lot of books and I liked the idea of an unique name. I like having a unique name – it’s [my mum’s] maiden name, Neve – and not a lot of people have it.

”It’s nice having something special and different and so I wanted something like that for our son.”

Neve and JJ first started dating in 2011, following the actress’ divorce from the Canadian actor, Jeff Colt in 2010.

Courteney Cox’s romantic birthday break

Courteney Cox is enjoying a ”romantic” 50th birthday vacation with Johnny McDaid.

The couple – who have been dating for around eight months – flew from Miami to Amanyara in Turks and Caicos on Saturday (06.14.14), and marked her special day on Sunday (06.15.14) by spending the afternoon in a ”secluded” part of the beach.

A source said: ”Courteney’s birthday was Sunday and they spent all afternoon on the beach. It was just the two of them and they found a secluded spot in a cove.

”It was very romantic and a beautiful setting for the afternoon. They shared a green cocktail and took a nap side by side. Courteney looked like there was nowhere else in the world she would rather be and just so happy to be doing what she was doing.”

According to the onlooker, 37-year-old Johnny was very attentive to his girlfriend – who has 10-year-old daughter Coco with ex-husband David Arquette – and the pair seemed ”totally in love”.

The insider continued to E! News: ”Johnny was doting on her, rubbing her leg and passing her a cold towel when she got hot. They seem very happy together and totally in love. After a long afternoon in the sun, they went back to their room for the night.”
