Seth Meyers addresses misconduct in Globes monologue

Seth Meyers addressed the sexual misconduct scandal in his opening monologue at the Golden Globe awards.

The ‘Late Night’ host took the reins of the annual ceremony at the Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills on Sunday (01.07.18) evening and showed he wasn’t afraid to address the big issue within moments of stepping out on stage.

He quipped: "Good evening, ladies and remaining gentlemen.

"Happy new year, Hollywood! It’s 2018, marijuana is finally allowed, and sexual harassment finally isn’t.

"This was the year of big little lies and get out. And also the television series ‘Big Little Lies’ and the movie ‘Get Out’.

"There’s a new era under way, I can tell, because it’s been years since a white man was this nervous in Hollywood. By the way, a special hello to hosts of other upcoming awards shows who are watching me tonight like the first dog they shot into outer space.

"For the male nominees in the room tonight, this is the first time in three months it won’t be terrifying to hear your name read out loud."

But he also made a joke about disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein – who has been accused of sexual harassment and even rape by a number of women – which was met with boos by the shocked audience.

He said: "I think it’s time to address the elephant not in the room.

"Harvey Weinstein is not in the room tonight, because I’ve heard rumors he’s crazy and difficult to work with.

"He’ll be back in 20 years, when he becomes the first person ever booed in the ‘In Memoriam.’ "

The 44-year-old presenter had vowed before the event not to make jokes about President Donald Trump but couldn’t resist making a jibe at his expense.

As he talked about not being the most powerful Seth in the room, the camera panned to Seth Rogen and he quipped about the ‘Interview’ star: "Remember when he was the guy making trouble with North Korea?"

And he also joked about what he felt the president’s opinion would be of the Hollywood Foreign Press, the organisation behind the Golden Globes.

He said: "A string of three words that could not have been better designed to infuriate our president: Hollywood Foreign Press. The only name that would make him angrier would be the ‘Hillary Mexico Salad Association.’ "

Seth also urged Oprah Winfrey to run for president.

He quipped: "In 2011, I told some jokes about our current president at the White House Correspondents’ dinner, jokes about how he was unqualified to be president. And some have said that night convinced him to run.

"So if that’s true, I just want to say, Oprah, you will never be president. You do not have what it takes!

"And Hanks, you will never be vice president. You are too mean and unrelatable."

But Seth ended his monologue on a serious tone, praising the women in the room.

He said: "People in this room worked really hard to get here. But it’s clearer now than ever before that the women had to work even harder.

"So thank you for all the amazing work that you’ve all done and continue to do. I look forward to you leading us to whatever comes next."

Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie to present at Golden Globes

Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie will both present at the Golden Globe Awards.

The ‘Cake’ actress and the ‘Maleficent’ star – who were both previously married to Brad Pitt – rarely attend the same events, but this year they will be among the famous faces handing out statuettes to the winners, along with other newly-announced presenters Dame Helen Mirren and Emma Stone.

Other stars who will be presenting at the ceremony – which will be hosted by Seth Meyers – on Sunday (07.01.18) include Hugh Grant, Isabelle Huppert, Ricky Martin, Penelope Cruz, Seth Rogen, Kerry Washington, Gal Gadot and Kelly Clarkson.

Amy Poehler, Neil Patrick Harris, Sharon Stone, Alicia Vikander, Sarah Jessica Parker, Chris Hemsworth, ‘Game of Thrones’ stars Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke, Emma Watson, and Halle Berry are also among the big names who will give out prizes at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills.

While it is unusual for Jennifer and Angelina to be at the same event, it is unlikely they will be seated near to one another as Jenny Cooney, a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association who helps work out the seating plan for the Golden Globes, admitted personal circumstances are taken into account when planning who will share a table at the glitzy ceremony.

She told Australia’s Vogue magazine: "There have been years where major stars may be together for the first time since a high-profile split and we go to great lengths to put them on opposite sides of the ballroom.

"It was always stressful to have Jennifer Aniston in the same room with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and this year we were wondering if Brad Pitt showed up, how that would be received by Angelina Jolie. It’s good for the audience but maybe not for the exes."

Beyonce set to re-record Lion King songs

Beyonce is set to re-record some of the hit songs from ‘The Lion King’.

The 36-year-old ‘Halo’ hitmaker joined the cast of the upcoming live-action remake of the Disney animated classic as Nala – the love interest of Simba, who will be voiced by Donald Glover.

However, a source told the New York Daily News newspaper, that Sir Elton John – who provided the songs to the 1994 animation including ‘Circle of Life’ and ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ – has agreed to a deal reportedly worth $13 million (£9.7 million) to rework his hit compositions.

The source said: "Elton is working with Disney on this new ‘Lion King’ project. They have reached an agreement to present some reworked versions of the classic hits and perhaps some new work. The songs will be thread into the storyline. It is unthinkable when you have Beyonce involved not to have her sing some of those iconic hits – and that means huge sales to a new generation."

Elton, 70, won an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1995 for ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ while other songs such as ‘Hakuna Matata’ and ‘Circle of Life’ were both nominated.

In the new movie, Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to play the villain Scar alongside Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa respectively.

James Earl Jones will return to voice Mufasa, the same part he played in the original 1994 movie. Alfre Woodard will play Sarabi, John Oliver will voice Zazu and John Kani will star as wise baboon Rafiki.

‘Jungle Book’ filmmaker Jon Favreau is at the helm of the project, which is set for a July 2019 release. Favreau is already in pre-production with Jeff Nathanson writing the script.

‘The Lion King’ is just one of the live-action movies in the pipeline. ‘Dumbo’, ‘Mulan’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’ are also in the works.

Seth Rogen says real-life events inspired wacky teen comedy

Seth Rogen’s ‘Superbad’ was inspired by real-life events.

The 35-year-old star co-wrote the outrageous film with Evan Goldberg, and has taken to Twitter to reveal the secrets behind its success, as ‘Superbad’ celebrates its 10th anniversary.

At the start of a series of movie-related tweets, Seth wrote: "I’ll answer some Superbad questions if anyone has any.

"Some Superbad trivia for its ten year anniversary. (sic)"

Then, Seth started to lift the lid on some of the lesser-known aspects of the movie, revealing that fellow comedian Danny Mcbride served as an extra in one particular scene.

He said, too, that Evan’s brother Dave was responsible for drawing all of the pictures of penises that appear in a scene with Jonah Hill.

Seth continued: "Danny Mcbride is an extra in the background of the first party scene in Superbad.

"Evan Goldberg’s brother Dave drew all the d**k drawings in Superbad.

"Almost all the names in Superbad are people we went to high school with and lots of the stuff in the movie really happened to us.

"The period blood on the leg scene in Superbad actually happened to my friend at a high school dance and we discovered it after the dance.

"Just like in Superbad, Mike Snider actually was the first guy to get a fake ID and it was awesome. (sic)"

Seth also revealed the role drugs played in naming the teen comedy, which also featured the likes of Emma Stone and Michael Cera.

He shared: "My good friend @mrDaveKrumholtz came up with the title Superbad while we were smoking weed at the oakwood (sic)"

Recalling some of his other happy memories of making the movie, Seth added: "The end house party in Superbad was filmed about half a block from the OJ murder house.

"My mother came up with the joke that Mclovin gets arrested for statutory rape at the end of Superbad.

"The cast of Jersey Shore confirmed to me that the phrase ‘D.T.F or ‘Down To F**k’ is from Superbad.

"Anyway, if you dig Superbad, thanks for digging it. I wrote it with my best friend in high school and we still write together. It’s lovely. (sic)"

Seth Rogen embarrassed by tweeting mom

Seth Rogen was left feeling uncomfortable when his mom tweeted about sex.

The ‘Sausage Party’ star was left horrified when his mother Sandy compared a post-coital nap to shavasana, a restorative pose done at the end of a yoga session.

Sandy tweeted: "Falling asleep after sex is like shavasana after yoga!"

In response, shocked Seth posted: "Jesus f***ing Christ mom."

And the 35-year-old actor wasn’t the only person shocked by his mother’s tweet, as his older sister Danya was equally horrified.

Along with the sick-faced emoji, she replied to her brother: "Seriously. I actually gagged."

Seth then replied: "It’s gnarly."

But Sandy wasn’t bothered by Seth’s comments, and dismissed her son’s outrage.

She replied: "It’s just an observation of life !(sic)"

When the ‘Knocked Up’ actor responded with "Whatever", she took the opportunity to make fun of him again.

She replied: "Whateverrrrrrrr mom mm!(sic)"

And she also told Danya she was "lame" after her response.

Actress Mindy Kaling also told the ‘Superbad’ star to leave his mother alone.

She tweeted: "I love it and I don’t want you to dissuade her."

But Seth replied: "I don’t think I can."

This isn’t the first time Sandy has managed to embarrass her son online.

While on vacation in January, she tweeted: My husband needs peanut butter in Paris! Crazy life!"

In response, Seth replied: "For a billion dollars, I couldn’t tell you what this means."

But Sandy was swift with her own comeback and refused to rise to his cheeky questioning of her cryptic remark.

She quickly replied: "If you would answer your phone you would know."

Seth Rogen was blocked on social media by Rob Schneider

Seth Rogen was stunned to find he’d been blocked on social media by Rob Schneider.

The 35-year-old actor tried to look at the ‘Grown Ups’ star’s Twitter profile but was amazed to receive a message telling him the 53-year-old star had stopped him from being allowed to look at his profile on the micro-blogging site.

Seth shared a picture to prove he was blocked on the platform, which he captioned: "What the f**k?! (sic)."

Rob’s snub clearly cut Seth deep as he decided to publicly slam the comedic star for looking "appalled" in his cover photo on his profile, which was a promotional image for his ‘Real Rob’ show and featured him with wife Patricia Azarcoya Schneider and their four-year-old daughter Miranda.

Alongside a screenshot of Rob’s page, which included the commercial, Seth quipped: "Why does he seem so appalled to be sitting with his own family? (sic)."

After the ‘Sausage Party’ star’s discovery, Rob agreed to unblock him on the site – but only if he would arrange a meeting for him with Seth’s friend James Franco.

Rob – who also has 27-year-old daughter Elle King with his ex-wife and actress London King – tweeted: "Dear @Sethrogen

I’ll unblock you if I can meet James Franco. You’ll be back in buddy!

Potentially yours again,

Rob."

And it seems the ‘Knocked Up’ star was only too happy to help as Rob later wrote: "Dear Seth,

You are officiallyUNBLOCKED!

Go celebrate 2Nite with some close friends. But be on your best behavior from now on!

ILOVED"TheEnd" *(sic)."

Rob then thanked Seth for introducing him to the dark-haired heartthrob, who he has hailed as a "dreamy" male, and he has confirmed the pair are "pals once again", though he hasn’t explained why he blocked him in the first place.

Rob ended the feud with a kind-hearted post, which read: "Dear Seth,

And thanks for hooking me up with Franco. You’re right, he is dreamy!

Your pal once again,

Rob (sic)."

Seth Rogen hates his neighbor

Seth Rogen’s neighbor "sucks".

The ‘Bad Neighbors 2’ actor "hates" the guy who lives next to him because he has been extending his home for over four years and it has become an "ugly house", something that really annoys Seth.

Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Tuesday morning (05.03.16), the Canadian comic star said: "My actual neighbor sucks. I hate him, his name’s Chris, I don’t like him very much. He’s been building his house for like four years and it’s the worst thing ever, it’s an ugly house, it’s not even a nice looking house. When I was promoting the first ‘Bad Neighbors’ movie, people would ask me, ‘What’s your neighbor like?’ And I would say, ‘I don’t like him, he’s building his house’. It’s the sequel and he’s still building his house, it’s the same house … He doesn’t like me very much – he would probably say I’m psychotic and would probably like me to stop talking about him on television."

Seth would much prefer to be living next door to someone who was quiet or played good music and he thinks the Dalai Lama – the head of Tibetan Buddhism – or Adele would be great neighbors.

The 34-year-old actor – who is married to writer-and-actress Lauren Miller – added: "I would choose the Dalai Lama because he’s quiet, and someone who makes music you want to listen to – Adele. That’s my two neighbors."

Seth reprises his role as Mac Radner in ‘Bad Neighbors 2’ alongside his on screen wife Kelly Radner, played by Rose Byrne, and Zac Efron returning as Teddy Sanders.

Snoop Dogg launches cannabis product line

Snoop Dogg has launched Leafs By Snoop, a branded line of cannabis products.

The rapper has made no secret of his love of the herbal drug and has now created his first batch of cannabis-infused items, which includes food, hand-weighed marijuana flowers and hash oils that are on sale in ”dispensaries” in Colorado – where recreational marijuana use was legalized in 2013.

In a statement, Snoop said: ”It’s a true blessing that I can share the products I love so much with y’all today. From the flower, to the concentrates, and edibles – it’s all hand-picked by yours truly so you know it’s the hottest product out there. It’s the real deal and you gotta get out to Colorado to try it first!”

The rapper’s site Merry Jane will show a location mapping tool showing the sites which sell the line.

Snoop describes the site as a ”premier media platform at the center of cannabis and pop culture”.

Flavors are named Cali Kush, Bananas, Purple Bush and Blueberry Dream and available in flowers and concentrates, while ”Dogg Treats” – a branch underneath the Leafs By Snoop umbrella – will include Peanut Butter Gems, Gummies, Drops and Fruit Chews containing THC.

Meanwhile, Snoop’s new website MerryJane will feature information about marijuana and a location-mapping tool to show dispensaries of the new range.

Explaining his vision for the site, Snoop said: ”We will be like the encyclopedia to the cannabis world.”

Famous cannabis smokers Seth Rogen and Miley Cyrus are also involved with the website.

Announcing the project at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco, Snoop previously revealed that the website will accept 420 users per day ahead of the official launch.

4/20 is a code-term that refers to the consumption of cannabis.
