Jay-Z Signs with Sony

After a long association with record label Def Jam, Jay-Z has signed on with Sony, said a source at Billboard magazine.

According to knowledgeable sources of the current negotiations, the agreement, linking Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation with Sony’s Epic Records, is 95% complete.

Last week, Jay-Z announced the end of his contract with Def Jam, his home for the last 10 years, where he was also CEO from 2004 to 2007.

The rapper, who is married to Beyonce Knowles, will not however be joining Columbia Records, which also belongs to Sony.

Last year, Jay-Z founded Roc Nation in partnership with Live Nation.

Oasis Teams with Sony BMG

According to a report by NME.com, Sony BMG will put out three albums for Oasis, the first of which will be released before the end of the year.

The Gallagher brothers and other members of Oasis are the owners of Big Brother Recordings, which will distribute the discs and share the profits with Sony BMG.

Alex McKinlay, one of the managers for Oasis, said, "This is an imaginative and exciting arrangement which will allow Big Brother to team up with the crème of both the independent and major sectors worldwide."

According to McKinlay, the agreement will allow Oasis to take advantage of every opportunity, while the music industry adjusts to the computer age.

Sony Ready to Launch Gay Label

Music With A Twist will be the name representing many new talented stars in the United States.  In addition to signing new artists, the label will produce compilation CDs and direct a radio show.

The first CD from Music With A Twist should be ready for next June, to coincide with Gay Pride day in the U.S.
