It’s a debate as old as time: is Die Hard a Christmas movie?
Now, we’re not here to argue (it’s indisputably a Christmas movie since the entire story, themes, dialogue and music all revolve around the holiday), but instead, we just want to celebrate that it’s a damn good movie to watch at any time, especially during Christmastime.
With that in mind, we’ve rounded up where you can stream the 1988 Bruce Willis classic action flick in Canada. It’s actually pretty straightforward; since Disney owns Fox, Die Hard is streaming in Canada on Disney+ under the Star banner. It’s even got 4K support, to boot.
What’s more, Die Hard 2, Die Hard: with a Vengeance and Live Free or Die Hard are also all streaming on Disney+. Amusingly, A Good Day to Die Hard, the series’ most recent entry, is not on the Disney service, which is fitting since it’s widely regarded to be the worst Die Hard.
So if you’re someone who needs to see Alan Rickman’s Hans Gruber fall from the Nakatomi Plaza to properly celebrate the Christmas spirit, then Disney+ has got you covered.
Netflix is planning to expand its existing ‘Preview Club’ program that lets subscribers see and provide feedback on upcoming content, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Currently, there are about 2,000 Preview Club members, but WSJ reports that Netflix is looking to bring “tens of thousands” more people into the fold. It’s unclear exactly who might be chosen or when they might be added, but it’s certainly something to keep an eye out for if you’re a Netflix subscriber.
Ostensibly, Preview Club is Netflix’s take on Hollywood “test screenings,” and the streamer has made changes to content based on the feedback it’s received from the program. For example, WSJ reports that subscribers said last year’s Don’t Look Up, Netflix’s controversial Oscar-nominated satire about climate change, was too self-serious. As a result, the creative team injected more humour into the film.
Variety first reported on the existence of Preview Club in May, at which time the program was said to have been in operation for about a year. The outlet also noted that it was only open to U.S. subscribers at the time, so it’s unclear whether this supposed planned expansion would bring in people from other countries like Canada.
The announcement came via the series’ official social media channels alongside a picture of the titular bounty hunter and Grogu, AKA Baby Yoda.
While the second season of The Mandalorian ended in December 2020, Mando and Grogu appeared in the spin-off series The Book of BobaFett, which ran from December 2021 to February 2022. The first trailer for Season 3 dropped in September:
In Season 3, Mando and Grogu travel to Mandalore to confront Bo-Katan and the Mandalorians. Pedro Pascal stars as The Mandalorian, while Carl Weathers (Greef), Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan) and Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) are also set to return.
Ahsoka, another The Mandalorian spin-off, is also set to premiere sometime in 2023. The series follows Rosario Dawson’s eponymous former Jedi, who previously appeared in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, in a story that picks up where the animated series Star Wars: Rebels left off.
