Where to stream every Spider-Man movie in Canada before Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home, the highly anticipated third MCU Spider-Man movie from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, is nearly here.

Releasing exclusively in theatres on December 17th, No Way Home promises to the “Avengers: Endgame” of Spider-Man movies as the world of Tom Holland’s titular hero collides with the multiverse.

After an effort by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to make the world forget his secret identity goes wrong, Holland’s Peter finds himself coming face to face with villains from previous Spider-Man films.

Sony and Marvel have so far only officially revealed Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2, although the first trailer also points Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin (Spider-Man), Sandman (Thomas Haden Church, Spider-Man 3), The Lizard (Rhys Ifans, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Electro (Jamie Foxx, The Amazing Spider-Man 2). It’s also heavily rumoured that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will reprise their roles as Spider-Man from the Sam Raimi trilogy and Marc Webb duology of Spidey films, respectively.

All of that is to say that No Way Home will draw heavily from Spider-Man films beyond Tom Holland’s own Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home. For that reason, you may want to rewatch some (or even all) of those older movies in the lead-up to No Way Home.

Read on for the full list of where you can stream all seven live-action Spider-Man films in Canada. Of course, these movies can also be rented or purchased from digital storefronts like iTunes and Google Play.

So TL;DR — having Amazon Prime Video covers you for all of Tobey Maguire’s films, while Netflix has both of Tom Holland’s. For Andrew Garfield, though, Netflix only covers his first outing, The Amazing Spider-Man, so those interested in the sequel will either have to bear with ads on CTV.ca or just rent it for $3.99 to $4.99 on the likes of iTunes and Google Play.

What else?

Of course, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man also appears in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). If you want to revisit those as well, you can do so on Disney+ — now with support for ‘Enhanced IMAX’ aspect ratio, no less. The three movies can be found under both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Spider-Verse sections of Disney+.

Meanwhile, Venom (2018), the first in Sony’s growing universe of Spider-Man-related movies, is streaming on Netflix. The sequel, this year’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage, only just hit theatres last month, so it doesn’t yet have a confirmed streaming release date or specific streaming platform(s). And while unrelated to No Way Home, it’s worth mentioning that Sony Pictures Animation’s Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse can be streamed on Netflix.

Finally, it should be noted that No Way Home‘s long-awaited second trailer will officially release tonight, November 16th. Marvel and Sony are holding a special in-person fan event in Los Angeles to debut the trailer at 5pm PT/8pm ET. Presumably, the trailer will presumably drop online shortly after.

No Time To Die is now available on PVOD in Canada

If you were waiting to watch the latest James Bond flick at home, you’re now in luck.

No Time To Die, the 25th James Bond film and actor Daniel Craig’s last outing as the iconic British superspy, is now available on premium video on demand (PVOD) services in Canada. This marks one month since the film opened in North American theatres following multiple COVID-19 related delays.

For now, No Time To Die is only offered through a 48-hour, $24.99 CAD rental on platforms like iTunes, Google Play, the Cineplex Store and the Amazon Prime Video Store.

It’s important to note that it’s currently unclear which over-the-top streaming service No Time To Die will eventually land on. All of the other Bond films are currently available on Crave, which suggests No Time To Die will follow suit. That said, Amazon is also in the midst of acquiring Bond studio MGM, so the film may eventually make its way to Prime Video.

Picking up after the events of 2015’s Spectre, No Time To Die follows Craig’s Bond as he’s pulled out of retirement by the CIA to investigate a kidnapped scientist who holds the key to a deadly bioweapon. The film was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and co-stars Léa Seydoux, Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz and Ralph Fiennes.

Here are all of the new movies and shows hitting Disney+ on Disney+ Day

Exactly one week from today is Disney+ Day, the Mouse House’s inaugural celebration of, as its name suggests, all things Disney+.

The company picked November 12th because the streaming service originally launched in Canada, the U.S. and the Netherlands on that date in 2019. Fast forward two years and Disney is ringing in the occasion with Disney+ Day, which it describes as “a special global company-wide fan celebration.”

So what does that mean? Well, Disney is promising a slew of new content releases on Disney+, as well as a “special presentation” to reveal what’s coming to the service in the future from its various brands, including Marvel.

Disney hasn’t revealed an exact schedule for its Disney+ Day presentation, although it will stream on Disney+ for subscribers. We’ll be sure to cover that news once it becomes available.

For now, though, Disney has revealed what new content is dropping on November 12th. See below for the full list:

Disney/Pixar

  • Ciao Alberto (short) [Disney+ Original]
  • Entrelazados (series premiere, all episodes) [Disney+ Original]
  • Feast (short) [Disney+ Original]

  • Tangled Ever After (short) [Disney+ Original]
  • Tick Tock Tale (short) [Disney+ Original]

Disney+ Star

  • Dopesick (series premiere) [Star Original]

Marvel

  • Marvel Studios’ 2021 Disney+ Day Special — explores the “past, present and future” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (expect announcements related to upcoming shows)
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (streaming premiere, starring Mississauga, Ontario’s own Simu Liu)

National Geographic

  • The World According to Jeff Goldblum (Season 2 premiere, first five episodes) [Disney+ Original]

Star Wars

  • Under the Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fett [Disney+ Original]

20th Century/Walt Disney Studios

  • Jungle Cruise (streaming premiere for all Disney+ subscribers, no Premier Access fee required)
The Simpsons in Plusaversary (short) [Disney+ Original]

That’s everything we know of at the moment, but if any more content gets confirmed, we’ll be sure to update this story. You can also click here to find out what else is coming to Disney+ Canada this month.

Otherwise, stay tuned to MobileSyrup for more Disney+ Day coverage.

Crave has a new ‘KitKat Comedy Collection’ featuring Fresh Prince, Friends and more

Have you ever spent time on Crave and thought “something is missing?” Although there are some genuinely good titles on the streaming service, like HBO’s Succession, did you ever feel like you wanted more from the service besides universal 4K support and a better bitrate?

If that applies to you, then the answer to your Crave problems might be KitKat! At least, that’s what Bell seems to have in mind.

The company has launched a new sponsored ‘KitKat Collection’ on Crave that features more than a dozen comedy titles. “Satisfy your entertainment cravings with The KitKat Comedy Collection,” writes Bell. “An assortment of movies and tv shows curated by Crave. Have a well-deserved break and a laugh after work, brought to you by KitKat.”

The assortment of content includes the following 15 comedy shows and movies:

  • Adorableness
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • Corner Gas
  • Corner Gas Animated
  • Daria
  • Flight of the Conchords
  • Frasier
  • The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
  • The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion
  • Friends
  • Friends: The Reunion
  • Jann
  • Star Trek: Lower Decks
  • Superintelligence
  • Wellington Paranormal

Amusingly, there’s a 16th Crave “title” listed in the collection, “The KitKat Comedy Collection,” which is simply a 15-second ad for KitKat and Crave. In other words, it’s a perfect companion to classics like The Fresh PrinceFriends and Frasier.

The only thing that could make Will Smith and James Avery’s iconic emotional scene from “Papa’s Got a Brand New Excuse” better, after all, is a KitKat.

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye still using the Google Pixel 3 in new Disney+ series

Superman isn’t the only superhero who loves the Google Pixel.

At the 30-second mark in the latest ‘Event’ trailer for Marvel’s upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series, there’s a moment when Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton takes a phone call outside of a store. The purpose of this scene is for a fun “I’ll be home for Christmas” line from Clin, but Eagle-eyed viewers may also notice that he’s actually using the Google Pixel 3.

It’s a particularly notable phone for him to have since it’s the same model he used in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. The phone can be seen in the pivotal scene where Hulk uses Tony Stark’s makeshift Infinity Gauntlet to bring back half of all life in the universe. Clint receives a call on his Pixel 3 from his previously deceased wife, thus showing that Hulk’s efforts worked.

But what’s especially interesting is that Clint’s phone would undoubtedly have been destroyed immediately after this call, given Thanos’ airstrike on the Avengers compound. Therefore, Clint was clearly enough of a fan of the Pixel 3 to not only get a new one, but still be using it by the time of the Hawkeye series.

It’s unclear exactly how long Hawkeye takes place after Endgame, but presumably, there are at least a few months between both MCU titles, suggesting he’s been using the Pixel 3 for a little while. (I like to imagine that Clint went to replace it immediately after Tony Stark’s funeral in Endgame).

Interestingly, fellow Avenger Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) was seen using a Windows Phone in her eponymous solo film earlier this year. However, that film took place in 2016, which made it more understandable that she might be using one of the now-discontinued devices.

Hawkeye is Marvel’s fourth live-action series for Disney+, following WandaVisionThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki. Set to premiere with two episodes on November 24thHawkeye follows Clint Barton as he teams up with the young archer Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) to fight enemies from his past and get back to his family in time for Christmas.

It’s also worth noting that ahead of the Hawkeye premiere, Disney will hold its inaugural ‘Disney+ Day’ event on November 12th. This presentation will stream on Disney+ and offer news on future streaming titles from a variety of brands, including Marvel.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder among delayed MCU movies

Marvel fans will have to wait a little longer to see their favourite heroes battle it out.

Disney has pushed back the release dates of many forthcoming movies, including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness from March 25th to May 6th, 2022; Thor: Love and Thunder from May 6th to July 8th, 2022; and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever from July 8th to November 11th, 2022.

The ripple effect continues well into 2023; The Marvels has been pushed back to early 2023, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has been pushed back from February 17th to July 28th, 2023.

As a result of the scheduling changes, there will only be three Marvel movies next year, rather than the intended four, with the Captain Marvel sequel The Marvels now set for February 17th, 2023.

However, the biggest delay has been sustained by a non-Marvel movie. The fifth Indiana Jones installment, which was supposed to appear in theatres on July 29th, 2022, has been pushed back to June 30th, 2023.

Further, four unnamed 2023-expected Marvel films have been removed from the schedule, while one untitled Marvel film has been moved from November 10 to November 3, 2023.

What effect these changes in schedule will have on Disney+ remains to be seen. Disney has committed to an exclusive theatrical window for its films before they’re accessible to stream for the remainder of 2021, but it hasn’t said anything about how things will operate in 2022 and beyond.

How to stream DC FanDome 2021 in Canada

With COVID-19 cancelling virtually every major event last year, Warner Bros. put together its own DC-focused virtual Comic-Con-style event, DC FanDome.

The one-day, fully digital convention was well-received for offering fans a way to safely connect with the top creators on DC comics, films, TV shows, video games and more.

Now, Warner Bros. is set to bring back DC FanDome on Saturday, October 16th. The main event will kick off at 10am PT/1pm ET and run for about four hours. Luckily for fans, this is a global event, unlike the traditionally San Diego, California-based Comic-Con.

This means that Canadians can tune in for free simply by visiting the official DC FanDome website.

Check out the trailer below for some of the big names that are set to attend:

In terms of what DC properties to expect, here’s some of what’s confirmed so far:

  • Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom (featuring star Jason Momoa)
  • The Batman (featuring director Matt Reeves, star Robert Pattinson and more)
  • The Flash film (featuring Ezra Miller)
  • The Flash Season 8 (featuring stars Grant Gustin and Candice Patton)
  • Harley Quinn Season 3 (featuring star Kaley Cuoco)
  • James Gunn’s Peacemaker (featuring Gunn and star John Cena)
  • Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game
  • Superman & Lois Season 2 (featuring stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch)
  • Warner Bros. Games Montreal’s Gotham Knights game

Notably, many of these projects were first unveiled at 2020’s FanDome, to give you an idea of the sort of big announcements that could come out of it this year. In any event, we’ll learn more on Saturday.

Where to stream the ‘Halloween’ movies in Canada before Halloween Kills

Halloween Kills, the next chapter in Laurie Strode’s decades-long battle with serial killer Michael Myers, will release in Canadian theatres exclusively on October 15th.

As the 12th installment in John Carpenter’s Halloween franchise, it’s understandably got a lot of baggage to it. Therefore, you might want to watch some — or, if you have a lot of time, all — of the slasher films.

To start, though, it should be noted that only Carpenter’s original 1978 Halloween and 2018’s Halloween are the only two films that are “canon” to Halloween Kills. That’s because 2018’s film directly continued from the 1978 original, thus retconning all of the previous sequels. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie to prepare for a final face-off against Myers, 40 years after their first terrifying encounter.

With that in mind, if you’re someone who just wants to catch up before Halloween Kills, you can start with Halloween (1978) for free on Hoopla (if you have a supported library card) or the horror-focused streaming service Shudder ($5.99 CAD/month with a free seven-day trial). After that, 2018’s Halloween is on Netflix.

It should be noted that Halloween Kills is the second film in David Gordon Green’s modern Halloween trilogy. The final installment, Halloween Ends, is set to hit theatres in October 2022.

If you want to watch the rest of the Halloween movies, here’s where you can do so:

  • Halloween II (1981) — not on streaming services, can only be purchased from iTunes/Google Play/etc
  • Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) — not on streaming services, can only be purchased from iTunes/Google Play/etc
  • Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers — Shudder
  • Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers — Shudder
  • Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers — Amazon Prime Video
  • Halloween H20: 20 Years Later — Amazon Prime Video and Shudder
  • Halloween: Resurrection — Amazon Prime Video
  • Halloween (2007) — Amazon Prime Video
  • Halloween II (2009) — Amazon Prime Video

Note: Halloween Kills is coming to the U.S.-only Peacock service and theatres on day one in America, but Canadians will unfortunately only be able to see it in theatres.

If Halloween isn’t your fancy, check out where you can stream all of Daniel Craig’s James Bond movies that lead up to No Time To Die, his recently released swan song.
